LOVE this place! The food is delivered fresh every other day, which says it all. The vibe is quaint, the service is excellent, and the food is absolutely stellar!

What an amazing place! I recently ate here with some friends and we had a fantastic dining experience. It's a very small restaurant and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing along with their beverages. It is very popular and I must emphasize the food is amazing!

Just off the freeway on our way to Chicago. We will be back. This place is for foodies. Small but very welcoming atmosphere. We are always struggling to find a good place when we go into the city (which is often) but I think we found our go to. We sat at the bar and watched all the plates go out. Every dish looked amazing. Can't wait to come back!

I have been to 27 countries and ate at a lot of restaurants. I generally don't give reviews. Yet this place definitely deserves one. A+ on the food it was so good. Not a far drive from I94. Watch out for the local police they look really bored.

This is a cute little place, about 6 tables and a bar. Friendly service. The burger was good, but I do not like sweet pickles. Ask for extra if you like the pickles because you only get 3 small slices. I like the seasoning on the fries but shoestrings are not my favorite. Wings were good. The sauce is different, sweet, tastes homemade.

This was our first visit to this restaurant but will definitely not be our last. It was so delicious. My husband had the burger with bacon ham and egg. I had the chilaquiles which were probably the best I have had. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The salsa verde had a wonderful flavor. Drinks were also refreshing and delicious. Service was impeccable. Never went without attention. Great pla

Outstanding find in Mattawan replacing Chin Chins as the best area restaurant. I will be back for the food, service, and atmosphere. Very cozy, intimate, and charming place. Like all other reviews the cauliflower appetizer and shrimp grits was delicious. I tried something different having the halibut. It was excellent. Fresh tasting fish with a delicious creamed corn and chorizo. I am not sure if it were supposed to be cold, but it was and tasted great with the hot fish.

Great stop while driving between Chicago and Michigan. Conveniently located minutes away from I-94, but feeling quite! Small but great ambiance, clean and modern deco, nice touch with beautiful flower arrangement, very funky wallpaper in the restroom! Most importantly, they serve gourmet food that both taste and look great! Highly recommended!!

This is a fabulous little hideaway! From the service to the food to the bathroom -- I didn't want to leave! I was out on a mother-daughter day and Mom and I stopped here. Going out to eat is always an adventure for me because I have a severe allergy to artificial sweeteners. But our waiter was friendly and peppy and answered my questions in an inviting and open way that didn't make me feel stupid or an inconvenience when they were clearly busy. Mom and I ordered and then were entertained by this open-air greenhouse vibe with the short-order cooks hustling only feet in front of you and the smell of garlic in the air from the fresh cut and cooked garlic fries. Food: Chicken Confi: beautiful, crunchy sub bread with pull away cheese and juicy chicken. This is the kind of sandwich you wake up in the middle of the night and are angry you can't have delivered! The Mushroom Ruben: not for the fancy, a nice spicy saucy and nice juicy mushrooms -- this was a very filling sandwich and while it looks small, you can easily split it and then chow down on fries or chips. The Chips! The are BBQ home made chips -- they aren't oily or greasy and I just had to take some home to my husband who wanted to know, 'are there more?' The Fries -- If you like garlic, just order the fries. These fries are garlicy to almost spicy garlic flavor. The Bathroom -- this is by far the best restaurant bathroom I've ever seen! Every person who walks in starts laughing because it's been decorated with monkeys drinking alcohol. More important than the drunk monkeys, there are grab bars all around the toilet and room enough for a wheel chair or walker! Good Job! Just the best time and I can't thank them enough! I don't get to take my mom out on dates very often and she had a very nice time -- thank you very much!

Bravo on the Sea Bass! It is a pricey entree((over $50) but very well done. Congrats to Bird Dog for keeping the quality out front.

To the east of Chinn Chinn in the same building, Main Street has three sections: a dining room with…read morebooths and tables (for groups up to 10), a room set aside for very large groups (greater than 10), and a bar with numerous TVs lined up high on the walls. This last is the largest of the three rooms. There is sufficient separation that bar noise doesn't seem to filter much into the other two rooms. Five of us, all from the same work setting, and a couple of partners (including my girl) met tonight for our annual holiday meal. We had not called beforehand with a reservation, but the staff put together a couple of tables for us without complaint. We were struck by how crazily huge the menu was. That is usually a giveaway that the bulk of what the kitchen puts out will be at best middle of the road, with few winners. And after we ate, that was the consensus of the group: that there were no disasters among the seven meals ordered, but there were also no outright screaming winners. Among the things ordered tonight were a Reuben Sandwich, an open faced Tuna Melt, Grilled Salmon with rice pilaf and green beans, a Chicken Ranch Melt ("a grilled chicken breast topped with house made Ranch dressing, bacon, Monterey Jack cheese...on a toasted sourdough"), a Patty Melt ("topped with sautéed onions and Swiss cheese then sandwiched between two pieces of toasted pumpernickel"), and something called "The Bronco Burger" ("topped with BBQ sauce, crisp bacon, melted Cheddar cheese and finished with haystack onions"). We had several orders of Onion Rings as appetizers. Of those, only the Chicken Ranch Melt, the fries that accompanied several of the sandwiches, and the White Chicken Chili (which came with the Grilled Salmon dinner) got thumbs up. The remainder of the food (with maybe two exceptions, see below) was deemed as inoffensively bland and forgettable. My girl thought the onion rings, covered in an industrial coating of cornmeal and flour, were the most repulsive. I thought the supposedly home made Ranch dressing that accompanied the onion rings was an affront to ranches everywhere. Good Ranch dressing should have overtones of garlic paste, parsley, dill, chives, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, vinegar, paprika, cayenne, buttermilk, and the hot sauce of your choice (optional). Main Street's had none of this. Good Ranch dressing should convey a tang or a gentle bite. This was just a pearly white combo of toothless mayonnaise and sour cream and no more. Service was perfectly acceptable. Our server, Alyssa, took good care of us. We ordered no alcohol so I cannot judge how well the bartender makes a drink. In summary, it's a bar that makes and sends out bar food. Sometimes you might want to go to a bar to drink and eat anonymous food because the wait at the nearby Asian Fusion restaurant is too long. Maybe you want to watch from a dozen TV screens without being able to understand the content of any of them. Maybe the very phrase "Asian Fusion" is just too provocative relative to the food you stuff in your cheeks. Maybe you own a truck. In any of those cases, go the Main Street, order the Chicken Ranch Melt with fries, and get a bowl of the deliciously piquant White Chicken Chili.

I hate that they add the 4% service fee. Also on takeout, they add the tip. That being said, the…read moreRueben is super good and I love the fries. I would like to eat in because they have a good beer selection, lots of televisions in the bar side and lots of specials. Wait staff did take good care of us to take our order and then getting us our food - still hot.

A 4 indicates that it's good and I will definitely be back. Food: was pretty good leaning slight closer to more authentic Mexican food than many of similar places in Portage and Kalamazoo. Our table had a burrito, salad, and street tacos. Everyone seem to enjoy the quality and taste. See attached picture of my Burrito Ranchero. The included guacamole, picante, and sour cream are extremely small. Service: expected a little more responsiveness. It wasn't really busy for a Monday dinner seating. But many of our extra requested food items ie fresh jalapenos, cheese, and salsa came later with meal getting cold. Our server had no sense of urgency or hospitality. Atmosphere: We liked the seating which was private enough to have an enjoyable conversation but open enough to observe other around us enjoying themselves. Overall a very pleasant clean place with a warm fun vibe.

But I heard the current owner had made major changes so we stopped in on a super hot Saturday afternoon. Living in the area, I knew they added this portable deck that reaches out into the parking lane. This is nice, but this is Red Arrow Highway so you do get a lot of semi traffic which can be loud. They also have their smoker out there and today they were smoking their wings. It smelled wonderful. We opted to sit in the veranda, which is part of the original building, but they removed the front wall and built this cozy niche to sit and relax in. I was pleasantly surprised it was rather crowded at 2pm with people out on the deck, in the veranda, and inside. We zeroed in on the 2 Coney dogs with chips for $5.00 for both of us. They were very good and hit the spot. While we were eating, we decided that Sporty's will become one of our places we will be frequenting. The menu listed sandwiches, burgers, wings, and they also offer daily specials. I'm excited to return and try some of their other items.

Besides the place being a mess/dirty, being completely ignored, when we got up to leave walking out the door, someone from staff yelled " welcome to Sporty's", sarcastically. No matter how much money this owner has dumped into the place, it's still the same dive it's always been. It's too bad.
