    Non-Veg platter
    Amy L.

Ordered from Doordash for lunch. I ordered the Non-Veg Platter and Butter Naan from Bir Kitchen via DoorDash on a whim. I was specifically craving Chicken 65 and came across their Non-Veg Platter while browsing the menu. I'm so glad I took the chance. The results of that whim were fantastic. The Non-Veg Platter was amazing and generously portioned. It came with four pieces of chicken tikka, four chili momos, four pieces of fish fry, and a scoop of chicken Manchurian. Since the menu didn't mention naan or rice included, I added a butter naan--and it was the perfect pairing. I don't eat Indian Himalayan/Nepalese cuisine often, so I wasn't sure what to expect. To my surprise, many of the dishes had a subtle Chinese influence, which I really enjoyed. Everything was packaged securely. The platter even had a sheet of parchment under the lid--likely to absorb condensation, retain heat, and prevent sauce from spilling. Thoughtful touch. Chicken Manchurian - Really tasty and reminiscent of General Tso's chicken, but less sweet. I could easily polish off a whole bowl of rice with this alone. Chili Momos - I had no idea what to expect, but these were excellent. The dumplings seemed fried, then tossed in a peppery, savory sauce with bell peppers and onions. The sauce wasn't runny--it coated each momo evenly. It reminded me of a Chinese stir-fry, but lighter and less greasy. Chicken Tikka - Tender, juicy, and full of savory flavor. Perfect with the butter naan. Fish Fry (Swai) - This one surprised me the most. I initially imagined something like fish sticks, but these were different. The batter was slightly translucent white--possibly a rice-based batter --and maintained a light crispiness. The real standout was the minced onion sauce. It's more of a paste than a liquid, but the flavor was incredible. It even reminded me of fermented black bean sauces used in Chinese stir-fries. I could easily finish a bowl of rice with this fish alone. Overall, Bir Kitchen was a fantastic find. I'm excited to explore more of their menu in the future.

Bir Kitchen is an absolute gem in the Mission and a place I'm already excited to return to. The staff were very warm and welcoming and the service was excellent throughout the meal. The menu leans into a really interesting Indian-Nepalese fusion, and it works beautifully. The palak paneer and rogan josh were the standouts of the night, with both arriving piping hot, absolutely packed with flavor, and with just the right level of spice (even the medium gave me a small sweat and I love spicy things!). The palak paneer was velvety and creamy while still tasting fresh and spinach-forward, and the rogan josh had deep, layered spices (with very little gaminess) in both the goat and the curry, though I personally would have preferred the goat to be a bit more fall off the bone. One of the most memorable moments of the meal was actually the way it began. Shortly after we sat down, they brought out a huge complimentary portion of papadum, generously topped with an assortment of chopped onions, tomatoes, and spices (I think that makes it a masala papad?). It was crisp, bright, and addictive and the kind of starter that immediately makes you feel like you're about to be treated to a really fantastic meal (which we were!). Between the warm hospitality, the thoughtful fusion of Indian and Nepali flavors, and dishes that are as generous as they are delicious, Bir Kitchen feels like the kind of neighborhood spot that you instantly add to your regular rotation. If you love bold spices, comforting curries, and genuinely kind service, this place is an easy must-visit in the Mission.

I really enjoy my experience here every time, the staff is very welcoming and the food is delicious. They make it flavorful, spicy and in generous portions. Inside, the tables are clean and well spaced, never had an issue with that. My wife and I really enjoy their Manchurian chicken, chow mein, and biryani offerings! This is my local Nepalese restaurant!

Absolutely loved the food here. Dined here on NYE and was immediately seated inside. They have plenty of seating space and the ambiance overall is pretty neat. We were a party of 5 including a toddler and ordered their chicken curry, chicken tikka masala (both entrees cage with rice), roti, goat thali and chicken chowmein. Everybody loved the food and the portion sizes were pretty decent. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Looking forward to being back here soon!

Great service, amazing food! Nice interior! Saw this new restaurant and decided to come support the new business and i'm glad I did! Will def come back! here is what we got: chicken 65 - honest better than i expected, presentation can be worked on but the flavors are there, although it's quite pricey for what it is chicken tikka - very good 5/5, nothing to add garlic naan - pretty good but prefer more garlic they gave us a free appetizer (not sure what it is) - pretty good, very light

Bir kitchen is a new Nepali restaurant that is family owned and operated. Everything here from the staff to the food is warm and inviting. As the weather gets colder, fresh cooked food like this is perfect. I got the masala papadum, piro chatpate, baby corn manchurian, tandoori momo, and also the house special biryani. - The appetizers were really fun and crunchy to eat. The piro chatpate has crushed up instant noodle and seasoning, and eating it felt really whimsical. I think it would be a great bar snack with a beer. - I loved the baby corn manchurian! The chili sauce is savory, sweet, and tangy, while the corn adds a slight crunch. - It was my first time having momos tandoori style, and I really enjoyed the meat filling. Preparing it tandoori style takes a lot of time so I applaud the effort that goes into this dish. The homemade green chutney is superb, and the spice gradually adds as you eat more. - house special dum biryani is artfully made. I can taste the curated spice blend like saffron, cardamom, coriander, and more. This spice is the one that grows from your belly, not the spice that burns your tongue. Bir Kitchen has a huge menu, tons to choose from. Very vegetarian and vegan friendly. Perfect for sharing with a group. Please support small businesses like Bir Kitchen!

After reading some positive reviews on Yelp. We visited Bir Kitchen on a Saturday evening and impressed. The restaurant was new, clean and perfect for a date night or a relaxed dinner with friends or family. The booths were comfortable, dishes and cutlery were new and sparkly clean. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. We started off with a delicious gratis appetizer. It was similar to a thin vegetarian tostada. We also enjoyed paneer pakora with tasty mint chutney. YUM! I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and my BF enjoyed paneer tikka masala with Naan and basmati rice. Everything was delicious and well seasoned. Prices were reasonable, especially for the quality. I'd absolutely recommend Bir Kitchen and can't wait to go back. Ideal for a romantic evening or any time you want fresh, satisfying Nepalese cuisine. One benefit is Reyna's across the street-The concha's smell amazing!

The food was amazing as always. Everything was great, and the server was kind. Only one server for such a busy night, she handled every single table amazingly. We could see how busy the place was, but the kitchen staff's teamwork was impeccable.

Super tasty food, affordable prices, and incredible service. My wife and I decided to eat out for the first time with our 1 month old and although it was a scary experience, the staff here accommodated us in the best way possible and made our experience thoroughly enjoyable. I think we may be able to eat out more often based on this experience. They even went as far as to offee to hold our fussy crying baby so we could enjoy the meal. Amazing job Bir Kitchen, we'll absolutely be back to explore the vast menu. They use super fragrant szechuan peppercorns in some of their dishes, which was very tasty.

The food here was phenomenal! I was excited to see that they had Nepalese, Indian, and Chinese food, and some dishes in between. We got the chicken momo thukpa, chicken thali, and of course the mango lassi. The lassi tasted so fresh, it made me realize that a lot of lassis I've had have just been concentrate, but this one tasted like I was eating straight mangoes. The momo in the thukpa were so good; the filling was extremely flavorful and the skin was perfectly bouncy. The soup cleared our sinuses and the delicious spice left us feeling warm and comforted. Everything in the soup was the perfect texture; nothing was too soft. The thali had a great variety and everything in it was delicious (the daal was a favorite). The AC had broke that day, so it was quite warm inside, but the food was so good I didn't care. We also got a free appetizer. I can't wait to come back to try the kebabs and the rest of the extensive menu!

The taste was absolutely delicious! I attended a work party and we ordered a variety of dishes. The sizzling platter included chicken kabab, pani puri with chana soup, veggie momo, chicken in jhol, steamed momo, chicken biryani, nan, chicken korma, and chicken fried rice. Each dish was incredibly tasty, but my personal favorite was the chicken biryani. The staff was also very friendly and attentive, making the overall experience enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning in the future. Ambiance also very nice with the Nepali artwork and handcrafted items.

I got the chicken thali. The mains, naan, and papadums all tasted good, but there were lots of bone shards in the chicken. (Sorry for the somewhat icky photo attached.) The sides were so-so. Haven't tried the dessert yet but expect it will taste pretty good.

Amazing momo and thukpa. We ordered chicken momo and momo thukpa(item name). It was super healthy, fresh and tasty. The service and ambiance of restaurant is inviting one. We saw people enjoying naan n curries and drinks. They have a great menu selection.

The original plan was to grab some lunch items at Whole Foods, but who doesn't want to try a new restaurant?! Walking into the restaurant, it's a little unclear if you order the counter and they bring you food or if you're seated and you order at the table. We quickly figured out that your order at the counter and then grab one of the tables and they will bring you your order. I found the restaurant to be unkept, and most of the tables that did not have customers sitting at them were super dirty. The tables hadn't been cleaned from the previous customer/customers. We had already ordered and it was that quick mental conversation of are we expected to clean the table so that we can dine there or what. Thankfully, a bus boy appeared, and he didn't seem overly eager to want to clean the table that we were standing at but instead wanted to clean one that someone was dining at. It was kind of odd. He took a couple of swipes at the table and it really just removed the food that someone had dropped all over the table. Just not a comforting feeling when you know that you'll be dining in that same spot. Our food came out fairly quickly, and I was super excited to have a good meal. We ordered the lunch special, which included a lentil/garbanzo, bean side, CTM ( chicken, tikka masala), rice, and naan. We ordered one mango lassi to share because we figured it was easier to try it, then order too much. You can always order more, right?! The mango lassi was very underwhelming. It locked through mango flavor, and that hint of tanginess. I just felt like I was drinking warm mango juice. I definitely have had better. With the lunch plate, we upgraded the naan to the cheese naan. I love carbs like anyone else does, but I found this to be basically bread that someone had put curry flavor in with a couple of cubes of cheese. So basically curry powdered bread. Yuck. The CTM, I found the chicken to be very sparse in terms of the portion size, and the chicken was very rubbery. It was overcooked, and I specifically had asked for little to no spice. Apparently that request was ignored. The lentil and garbanzo beans were tasty, but the garbanzo beans were undercooked, incredibly hard, and the flavor profile was really weird. It couldn't decide if it was supposed to be spicy, spicy, and salty, or something in between. The rice was OK. It had far too much fenugreek in it, and again the flavor profile, even combined with the CTM just was a little offputting. The guy behind the counter was fairly friendly, but it wasn't that warm and inviting friendliness. Is this a place I would go back to? No, not at all The one thing that I really enjoyed was the artwork on the walls.
