Came here after replying to a Craigslist ad. The ad wasn't very clear other than saying testing on hair and payment after testing completed. Had expected to be explained more when arrived. So I got the confirmation email that stated their address but no apt number. I eventually found this place and found a couple teenagers behind the counter of a gutted business. One could literally pack everything in the office in an afternoon. So began by signing in, a sheet that wasn't thought out; asking everything but persons name. So they gave me a stack of papers to sign and I waited. I was passed around like a football between 4 staff that didn't seem to know where I needed to go. After things finally started moving and I walked into another empty room with cameras and lights I walked out. I realized that all this trouble wasn't worth risking my time, health and public figure. They were asking people to come in once a week on Mondays for 3 months to get $200. The rooms smelled like mold and doubt any of them can tell me the risk of the chemicals they are applying. And since they were planning on taking full facials, I am sure some of the people faces will eventually end up on ads if the product works without any compensation. read more

Ugh, unprofessional & unorganized - all the worst U lettered words. The wait was always long and the office is SO small it's so hard to get past people. No one ever responds to phone calls or emails. I had to send over 5 emails to different people because I didn't get paid and didn't get a response until the last one. The worst part was when I got a call back regarding my situation, I was asked "did you walk away before receiving your check" and of course I said yes because they always did a deposit into a card. I asked if they notified anyone of the change and they said no and then I followed up with if they were going to notify people if it would change back, answer - you got it right they said no. How the heck are people going to know if something has changed if you don't notify people. Who is running this? The management is so awful, sometimes it's not even worth it. read more

I had 2 negative experiences with Biometrix before I called it quits. The 1st time, I arrived on time for my appointment and was told that the study I signed up for was filled and they offered me a different study that paid far less. I was annoyed but nevertheless completed the study and when I returned, the woman said "Oh- we need to show that you tested this product a little longer -- can you just say you've been using it for the past month?" Shady! I hope this isn't to test for adverse reactions! The 2nd time, I left work early to make my SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT for a test specifically for Indian women, only to be told that the woman in front of me told them she could get her entire extended family to come within 1/2 hour...and therefore, there were no slots left for me. WTF? What is the point of making an appt and getting pre-screened if it doesn't matter in the end? Why did this woman's family get precedence over someone who was actually there at that moment and who was recruited for the study? The people who work here are incredibly disorganized and they have absolutely no regard for your time. I finally told them to take me off their list and to stop contacting me. They kept harping on how they desperately need Indians for their studies -- well, you just lost one! read more

This company's staff are not very professional at all. Once you're in their database they keep calling you. That's the great part. Right? However, once you're scheduled the staff members are late a lot of the times. I'd once sat waiting for 1 and a half hours. Sometimes, you're in and out quickly, but many times, they're late and become backed up. Considering your waiting time and the poor pay, it's probably not worth your time, especially if you don't live in San Francisco. For instance, they have a acne study for $40., that's a 2 week study. After you've come in twice and spent money for BART, Muni, and/or gas to get there and back, not to mention the energy needed to get there It amounts to about $8. to $10. in total. There's one right now for $25. for a BB cream that you only get to use for 5 days. Again, consider what your time and energy is worth??? What bothers me the most is that I was ask on a number of occasions to recruit others to do studies and I'd be paid. I recruited my neighbor and never got paid. I was literally told on at least 5 occasions that the check was in the mail. I was promised a check over a month ago and to date I still haven't gotten it. It's not the money it's the principle. To boot, I also told others about the company, which I didn't expect to get paid for. I just did it thinking it was a win-win situation for the people referred and the company. The people that I sent there complained about how unprofessional the staff was. This caused me hella embarrassment. But the fact that they didn't paid me for the one recruitment, the poor pay, and the unprofessionalism of some of the staff, made me not want to deal with the company again. Plus, I was coming from across the bridge. It was not worth my time. On the plus side the young lady and her brother who works there are great. Too bad I couldn't say that for the rest of the staff I've dealt with. read more

First off, as for your time: that's really a judgement of you. My study paid me $40, for two visits over a four week period. The first time I turned it into a day date with my boyfriend - we went to lunch in the city, thrift shopping, explored and then stopped by for 15 minutes on the way home to pick up the test product. So although, yes, I paid for gas and time I just made it worthwhile to be out there. The product worked well for me, so it was nice having virtually free product to use over the four week period. When I returned it was a similar situation - just went to eat to make the time worth while (there was a cute sandwich shop down the street). Learned from my first and came right at the beginning of my appointment to save time and avoid lines. The second study I did was similar but for a facial wash. They also emailed me before the end of the study so that I could pick up my check and next product in one trip. For me, I also find a huge testimony to how easy it is. All I had to do to earn the $40 was pick up a product, wear it, and return it - without any long term commitment. So it can be a sweet way for a little extra cash if you live nearby. Also, they have always replied promptly to my emails and never bugged me over the phone. read more

The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Extremely disorganized. They can't seem to clearly communicate even alongside each other. They disagree over logistics and prepare supplies and products haphazardly, with the subjects waiting around. Despite stressing that subjects must speak English, many people they recruit don't understand a word, which slows things down for everyone. For the longer studies downtown, they say they will provide snacks, refreshments, and lunch. Ha, a gross Subway sandwich and a small bag of Lays. No drinks besides their gallon of water. Thanks. We nearly starved 8AM-7PM as we sat in a freezing, sterile room with uncomfortable chairs. Never again. A star added because they did compensate. read more

I have been doing studies for a long time, with them . And they have some amazing products. Problem is they will not pay you on time. I have went down there after work , tired and do what they ask( cause if you do not bring the product back you will not get paid) and you will wait sometimes forever to get your funds. I actually got into it verbally with the director because he insisted he paid me one time,only to find out I was telling the truth. You will never get through on the phone , everyones mailbox is full and has been since last year. I hate giving out bad reviews. But this is not the first time and I am quite tired of it. read more

Okay, let me start out by saying I've had a great experience with the Ocean Avenue location. My review is based on the downtown location. It is horribly disorganized. The staff don't seem to know what they are doing. They run over an hour for what was promised as a 30 - 45 minute appointment. I just had my second appointment for a serum with them and they took 70 minutes. I'm fed up and will not be joining them again for any other studies at that location. As for the Ocean Avenue location - I've only experienced excellent customer service and professionalism. The products are fun to try. I'd just steer clear of the downtown location. My husband is participating in another study with the downtown location and waited an hour and half. He had the same lame experience I did. I'm sorry I referred him. read more

The place is wwaayy too small, so narrow! A couple of ladies that work there are somewhat friendly. When they have a research study, they should at least be there & let people in 30 min prior, because there is nowhere to sit outside, no Starbucks or anything. Also, I wish that studies were compensated for more money or for more studies to be like 1 or 2 weeks long, not 4. Its not worth it for me, since I live in the East Bay, but I tried. I answered an online ad for clinical trials for women of varying age groups. I got an email back informing me of my acceptance into the program, and Nina text me personally. She set up my appointment and went over the terms of compensation. I showed up at my scheduled time, was given a consent to fill out and return and was given a copy for my records. Lots of people began showing up and in their tiny office it felt like it could become chaotic quickly, but it didn't. They were very organized. We formed a line and had a quick evaluation by two different doctors, were given the product and instructed on it's use, and then sent on our way. The whole process took less than 40 minutes. I'm no longer doing any paid studies with Biometrix. They do not pay as promised. I have had to contact Peter about getting paid for two studies. I was paid late for one study back in August, 2017. I did another study that ended yesterday, September 20th and was supposed to have been paid within 24 hours, but I have not been paid yet. It is such a hassle getting paid I wouldn't bother working with these people. I have had email and phone contact with two people at Biometrix. They are saying my payment is pending. Please do not waste your precious time in trying to get paid to do studies. It is frustrating. read more

Biometrix was the first time I had ever done a case study. I am always open to new products, I personally love the new and best of those products! I have been using this product for 20 days now and have been SO excited at the progress and difference. My face looks amazing! Not only did I look amazing (on one side of course), the staff was amazing! Through the whole process everyone was very helpful and informative. I hope to work with Biometrix again for their studies. My main complaint is about the horrible and unprofessional manner in how the employees and management would treat the study participants. I went onto their website and filled in the "join" their study questionnaire and would occasionally receive emails about the current studies that I was qualified for. I have been doing their studies for years now and occasionally, in the past, I would receive emails/calls on past studies that still haven't been filled up and would be asked if I wanted to join. Recently, I received an email about a study, however I had miss the sign-up date. I kindly emailed the people at Biometrix asking if the study still had spaces left and if I could join the study, since I meet the requirements. I then got an incredibly rude email response from a person named Peter, telling me that I was confused and could not sign-up for the study because they were only enrolling people last week. Fair enough, I knew I missed the sign-up deadline, so I was fine with not participating in the study. However, I did not appreciate the rude and unprofessional response that I got from Peter! I simply asked a very straightforward question. I emailed Peter back on the situation and to please still keep me informed about any upcoming studies in the future. I then get a call from Peter, himself. On the phone he was completely rude and judgmental! He repeatedly kept saying I was confused and that I could not join the study. Yes, I get that, but I was not confused. He then proceeded to tell me to stop asking this stupid question and talked over me when I tried to calmly explain myself. He then just hung up on me. Bottom line: The company and study at Biometrix itself is great and I like testing out all the various products they had and it pays pretty well. But this Peter guy seriously needs to step back and learn how to be more professional and to stop being so rude! In the end, everything at Biometrix is decent, too bad Peter is not. :) read more

They are accommodating (as best they can) to your time schedule. The technicians are really great too. Downtown is out of my way. I would prefer the Ocean Ave. location. Received email from Yelp the other day- Biometrix demanded that they remove my review, claiming I'd signed an agreement not to post on review sites! Ha ha ! That is very funny. To Yelp's credit, they refused, stating they had no proof of such an agreement and don't know if such an agreement would be legal if it did exist. Which, of course, it does not. If you had any question about Biometrix's lack of professionalism, this should be evidence enough. Seriously, asking Yelp to enforce a non-existent contract is so ridiculous and shady I'm almost embarrassed for Biometrix. One would think that if I had signed such a thing, they'd be coming to me with their demand, yes? What makes it even funnier is that I signed up with Biometrix years ago, at a time that I don't think Yelp even existed. And other review sites certainly weren't on anybody's radar. Definitely was not something one would require a (questionably legal) contract to avoid. Damn, Biometrix, you are worse than even I imagined. Better watch yourself lest you get sued for fraud. Recently was asked to retest a product. I did. When I couldn't return it due to my real job, I offered to return it the next day. The office acted so unprofessionally in responding to me that I question their ethics in other areas. Whatever, do it if you need extra money and the time isn't too inconvenient, but for god sake, their research quality has got to be so poor that companies should not hire them for anything. Too bad I don't know who those companies are. read more

I went there for an ad that said they had a 3 day study paying $150. There would be a 30 min session one day, a 2-3 hour session the next day, and a final 10 min evaluation at the end, according to their Craigslist post. When I went to the office, I was told I would have to go thru 2 days of "screening" for 2-3 hours each and if I qualified, I would then need to come back for 2 more days for 4 hours each. I went there thinking I was going to be making roughly $35/hour. Their "new" study broke down to $12.5/hr. Screw that. I said, no, I was not available for that length of time, and this was not at all what was stated in their ad. They then offered me $50 for the 2 days of screening and mentioned that their employees would still be in training. I walked out. So basically, make sure to confirm on the phone with them what exactly is going to be asked of you before you go to their office. SCREW BIOMETRIX!!! read more

This place is good for fair skin care products. .. of course you don't know the products. If your lucky, there will be competent staff when you visit. Its been 50/50 for me. Today I went all the way to their office and they already had enough people of my ethnicity. Another time their directions were wrong. At my first study I was supposed to sit in a room for 20 minutes.... but they pulled me out after 10.... after rushing me through my paperwork. The money can be good depending on the amount of incompetence you experience during each study. If only they'd get it together. read more

Nice place. Apparently, there's more than one building on the block. Bit it's not too far from each other. This is my second time coming here and it's a fun research. They let you try some of their products to see how it word. And within a few fees after completion, you would go back for checkup and see how the product is working. The plus side is, they will pay you for conducting the research. It's fun to participate and good pocket money after completion. Not harmful at all. read more

I was just in a study with the folks at BIOMETRIX, they were very helpful during the study, explaining everything and making accomadations as needed. They even fed us a nice lunch when we had to be there for a couple hours. The staff were all very inviting and made the experince bareable. read more

I found about this company a few years ago on Craigslist,while I was unemployed and was looking for ways to make extra cash. Honestly, I don't know how this company is still in business. If I knew of the cosmetic companies that contracts Biometrix, I would totally report their practices. I've had so many issues with them, I could write a report. This review is for the Ocean location. To start, they don't pay up on time even though you sign an agreement saying payment will be provided upon completion of the study. When you try to contact them about non-payment they are non-responsive. They clearly take advantage of their research participants and try to avoid paying them, possibly hoping they will forget and not pursue further action. Depending on the research, they ask you personal information at the front desk in front of other research participants, such as the last time you were on your period, your address, or medical conditions that you might have, just to name a few. Just very inappropriate to be asked that kind of information while others are behind you in line. The staff is also very unprofessional and rude by going as far as saying you are lying if you tell them that you didn't receive a call or email from them to return a product, when in fact you really didn't. Also,the facial equipment they use for their research studies aren't disinfected after each participant, the workers don't wear gloves when touching your face, nor do they wash their hands between participants. There have also been instances where the staff told me to fill in random dates on some of the the research diaries saying that I used the product on those dates, when in fact I never did. So much for a research study. I could could go on, but I don't want to bore you. If you have a chance definitely look for other research companies that you can be involved with that are ethical and treat their participants with respect. read more

I hate giving bad reviews just because Nina is really accommodating but I think their company as a whole needs to improve on organization. First off, when they send out emails about upcoming studies, they need to be more specific about what it entails, the dates, the required visits, the location, and so forth. I remember I was invited to go to a study at the Hyatt in downtown Sf. That was great because I would rather trek down to downtown than go to their ocean location. I asked where the return visit would be and when and they said downtown and on a friday. I decided to go and spend about $8 round trip to get there only to be told that I would have to return the item on a thursday at their ocean location. I couldn't make that date and I wouldn't make it in time to get to their ocean location. I contacted Nina and she was accommodating enough to tell me to go to their event at Hyatt a few days after. So I spent another $8 to get to the Hyatt. I was told I would get a check but I felt skeptical since they seemed so unorganized... It was a month and I still haven't received my check. I emailed Nina and she said she did and would send it again. I never got it. but at this point, I'm too tired to even complain because I would just look like a liar. So there goes $56 down the drain. A waste of my time and money. Besides that, I get phone calls and emails the day of the experiment. I would like to join if I KNEW AHEAD OF TIME and I need more information to know if its worth doing. read more

First off I can say getting a $40.00 pymt for trying a product is not too bad! Its a good opportunity to get a little extra cash in these tough times! But, on the other hand you have to have a lot of patience and expect to be there for a long time! You may get somewhat irritated with staff, except for the young guy, who is sometimes working the front he's the only one who seems like he knows what to do! The staff can be friendly which is good, but that's not going to cut it when running an office. Staff can be very slow and very disorganized when calling in clients...lets say they are... discombobulated... ( Running around like chickens with their heads off, literally! ) the office area is so small, and can get very over crowded! I have gotten to the point to where I have almost walked out a few times, but ended up being asked to come in right on time its just frustrating when people picking up their products are there when others are dropping off! If they could schedule times you can come in to where you do not have to wait with 20 million people they will be great and people will be more willing to participate! It just comes down to the fact that we all have things to do and places to go and just not having any extra time to waste! read more

The staff is always friendly and helpful. The place is small and can get very crowded but they now give out appointments which makes it better. read more

I have been doing trials for Biometrix for around 2 years. Some of my early experiences were rather chaotic but recently they have been nothing but professional. The products they trial are high end cosmetics and I have really loved them. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to help me with my two kids which usually at least one of them accompany me. The offices are compact as you are just popping in to pick up and drop off there is nothing more needed. Getting money for testing great cosmetics - what's not to like, do it. read more
