They are ballroom dance shoes, so the front part of the shoe bottom was worn, but the heel was not. When I picked up my shoes, he said I owed him an additional $20 for heel repair, which the shoes did not need. He said his worker told him that the heels were in bad shape, but they were not, or I would've asked for them to be repaired when I dropped them off. I am not dumb. I know what my shoes needed, and they did not need heels. If there was an increase in the charge, he could have asked me before the work was completed, and I would've declined the extra unnecessary work. Total scam. I do remember him being unfriendly the last time I came here for business. I thought I would give his shop one more try. No thank you. I will never go there again. FYI, I just did a quick Google search and this behavior is illegal under multiple CA consumer protection areas: Breach of Contract (Common Law) California Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA) California Unfair Competition Law (UCL) It is also a Federal Trade Commission violation.

From the start, I had to push for an MRI when my symptoms weren't improving, which he at first kept claiming was unnecessary. When the MRI finally showed a fracture, Dr. Bastani told me he didn't believe it -- that it was probably a radiology error because he had ordered a "lower-grade" MRI. He wanted me to just ignore the diagnosis. I had to advocate for myself again just to get him to follow up with the radiologist. He eventually ordered a CT scan, which confirmed the fracture. Even after that, he didn't offer a clear treatment plan. When I asked whether I should continue walking on the injury or be immobilized, his advice was essentially "It's 50/50 -- you can choose." I felt like I was being left to make medical decisions alone without proper guidance. I was told that Dr. Bastani follows a "conservative" approach, but in my experience, that felt more like avoidance than thoughtful care. When I brought up valid concerns about long-term joint health and arthritis, I wasn't given a clear plan --that isn't what conservative care should look like. Conservative medicine should still involve communication, reassurance, and a willingness to guide the patient. Instead, I was left to carry the uncertainty on my own. Every visit felt rushed, and I never felt like he took the time to understand my full history or concerns. With a nerve injury already affecting my gait, and a fracture that involved a joint, I needed someone willing to look at the full picture -- not someone who seemed eager to move to the next patient. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Bastani to anyone dealing with a complex injury or long-term healing concerns. In the end, I sought a second opinion that gave me a much clearer understanding of my healing status and a more personalized recovery plan. If you have a straightforward injury, Dr. Bastani may work for you, but if you have concerns that require clear communication, detailed care, or support navigating something more than a basic sprain, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

They took so long to get back to me and when I called they let me know that my insurance denied my claim. I had to do all the work, and then they told me I had to pay out of pocket for the orthotics. Very expensive! So I canceled the order and I'm going to another clinic that actually cares about me and is willing to explain and be proactive about a call back. If I wouldn't have called, they would have not called me back and I would have waisted my time going into a follow up appointment just to let me know that I had been denied. I'm obviously still frustrated with the whole matter. I'm glad to not go there ever again.

The staff offered me the choice of a same-day appointment or one the following day. I chose the next day, and the scheduling process was incredibly easy and convenient. From the moment I arrived, everyone was welcoming and professional. Check-in was quick, and I was called back to the exam room within minutes. Shortly after, Dr. Yang came in, which I really appreciated because I wasn't left waiting like I have been at many other medical offices. Dr. Yang took the time to explain my options for treating my pinky toe. He explained the difference between removing the ingrown portion of the nail, which would eventually grow back, and performing a permanent procedure that involved numbing my toe, removing the nail, and applying acid to prevent it from growing back. He made sure I understood everything before moving forward. What impressed me the most was that I didn't expect the procedure to be done that same day. Based on my past experiences with other doctors, I assumed I would only be evaluated and then have to schedule another appointment for the actual procedure. Instead, Dr. Yang was able to take care of everything during my visit. I really appreciated not having to come back for a second appointment, which saved me both time and the cost of another copay. My entire visit, including check-in, the consultation, and the procedure was completed in less than an hour. I have plantar fasciitis and bone spurs in both feet, and because I didn't have the proper shoes or inserts, I was compensating in all the wrong ways -- pulling muscles here, straining muscles there -- until eventually the pain was everywhere and completely overwhelming. Honestly, I felt defeated and scared. I truly thought something more serious had to be wrong because the pain had become so severe. For the longest time I've had hit and miss instances with shoes. I've ended up with ingrown nails that required surgery. I've ended up in even more pain than I probably should be in. Enter my friend reminding me that foot analysis places exist and to "treat myself." I made a free appointment online and Cheri had me stand on a scanner of sorts. First thing that caught me off guard was I'm not a size 7 in everything... I'm an 8 (oops). Second was learning I pronate which makes sense why my ankles need so much support (esp with my health issues). Everything from start to finish was a breeze. Cheri set me up with some Hoka Gaviotas as well as some cute boot/shoe hybrids that already have insoles inside. With my Hokas, Cheri explained I needed to break-in/get used to my new insoles with a 2,4,6 hr rule and now I'm in love with them. Please don't hesitate to treat yourself as well if you find yourself in my position.
