About a month ago, I began feeling pain in the big toe of my right foot. It got worse and worse until I could no longer wear a shoe and was wearing only an open toe sandal. I hoped it would get better on its own, but it did not. It became increasingly sensitive. Finally, I called Dr. Charles Baik at renew podiatry on La Veta. I have used Dr. Baik previously for foot problems and he has been excellent. I called last Friday and he took me in right away. He examined my toe and cut away a substantial portion of the toenail on my right foot. He told me to soak my toe in an Epson salt solution which I did. Within three or four days my toe was completely normal. I am now walking 2 miles a day with no toe pain at all. In my opinion, Dr. Baik is a foot magician. With minimum discomfort, he took care of my foot problem completely. I give him my highest rating. He is an excellent podiatrist. read more

Over the past couple of weeks, I developed a pain in my left foot that grew increasingly severe. Dr. Baik is my long time podiatrist so I went to see him. He talked to me, examined my foot, diagnosed whatever the problem was, manipulated it somehow, and the pain was gone. I was able to walk completely normally. he also made a special pad to put in my left shoe that reduced the pressure on the tender spot. I have walked several miles since having Dr. Baik treat my foot and I'm able to walk with no problem. He did an absolutely outstanding job in just a few minutes. I'm writing this review for my daughter because she was the patient and not me. It's a bit of a late review, but hey, better late than never. My daughter had a really bad ingrown toenail that got infected. Took her to the doctor's office twice and all they recommended for her to do was a warm soak in epsom salt nightly. That didn't do much after a few visits and she was still in so much pain. I looked on Yelp and found this place. They were awesome and were able to take her the next day after she got out from school. Within 30 minutes from check in, consultation, numbing her toe, and then treating the ingrown toenail, we were done and they took care of her pain! This was the first time I had an ingrown nail removed. I don't know how Dr. Baik would treat my nails? I was so nervous & afraid of pain. He understood me and gave me two injections of anesthetic to comfort me. It turned out great and I didn't feel any pain at all! The nurse bandaged my wound very carefully. She told me how to take care of the wound patiently which needs to be disinfected every day. I came all the way from Pasadena to Tustin because Dr. Charles Baik is a true professional and an expert in what he does. I got an acute pain in the mid section of my left foot after starting to play at a soccer league in L.A. and I decided to book an appointment with him after seeing that the pain was not subsiding on its own. The front desk ladies were super kind and helpful and dealt with the nightmare that it is my insurance (I have a dentist in Costa Mesa that I still regularly go get checked at, but their personnel wasn't able to process their medical bill claims so I had to do it myself after they told me twice the insurance wouldn't pay them. Eventually, and after being on the phone with my insurance for quite a while, I was able to sort it out myself and get the insurance to pay my dentist). Just by that alone (the fact that these ladies, unlike the other ones, were able to sort my bill out with my nightmarish insurance company, without me getting involved) they deserve 5 stars. But Dr. Baik himself is also a very patient, personable and charismatic podiatrist. He took the time to explain what the issue was, gave me possible solutions and even answered several of my questions. He took the time to study and analyze my gait, and gave me feedback on it. I also brought in two pairs of shoes that I regularly wear and he gave me feedback on them and even recommended some other brands to wear. All in all, excellent customer service and professionalism from him, even though it was a minor injury, he still took the time and gave attention to it as if it was a serious matter. My wife has a severely dropped foot as a consequence of a bad outcome of a hip surgery. I'd gotten her 8 AFOs which are specialty braces from a publicly traded, national company that were specially designed to fit her foot. The reason I had to go back 8 times was because the first four severely lacerated her foot to one degree or another. Thereafter, the final 4 fittings were done until we got the specialty brace constructed in a more favorable fashion. The pain was both physical and emotional for my wife. For me, I was simply and continually aggravated. Online my wife discovered a support group for people that have a drop foot and there was a recommendation for a new type of brace that actually casts the foot forward thereby stopping the pronounced atrophy of the calf muscle which was a result of the old braces we had tried. I went into Dr Baik's office with low expectations only to discover that Dr Baik was extremely professional and knew how to help my wife with a totally different type of brace. It took a week for the brace to be made and she walked out with a 30% improved range of motion and a 45% improved attitude. Her balance was markedly improved thereby diminishing the risk of her falling. We received the brace on June 1st and she has not fallen to date. I can't recommend Dr Baik more highly and I believe that it's worth your time, effort and energy to check out what he has to offer in the line of podiatry. read more

Honestly, I've had the greatest experience here. He helped my step by step with my Plantar Wart and explained in great detail on what must be done and how to go about it. My Plantar wart is driving me crazy because they are very difficult to get rid of. He helped with it very much. Also, I still can't believe how affordable it is here... Its actually cheaper to go here with out insurance than going through insurance to some where else. $200 bucks for a Swift procedure, less than 100 bucks for each treatment... even with insurance, other places charge $90 co pay and they charge another $250-300 to the insurance company... I would rather go here with out insurance.... He keeps his prices low on purpose to help people.. He could of easily raised up his prices and he still would of get the business, but he keeps the prices low to help those in need... Thank You. read more

Here for an ingrown toe nail that made me quite unhappy. Dr. Baik is very popular! Nominally you may have to wait a couple weeks since he is so booked up. I lucked up by taking the slot of somebody who cancelled. Dr. Baik is very professional and concise; no fluffing. Laid out the procedure and let me know what to expect. I'd say it was about 20 minutes start to finish, with half of that being the numbing kicking in on my toe. Barely felt a thing (And was surprised at the amount of yanking he could do without feeling a thing). Would recommend! read more

Dr. Bhakta is nothing short of a blessing in my life!!!! I had a toenail fungus and eczema on both of my feet. I visited his office in February to receive one session of laser fungal nail treatment on my toenail along with a treatment for my eczema. By September my feet and toenails were all cleared up. I was a patient in December 2021 and came into the clinic twice that month (First appointment for ingrown toenail removal and second appointment for a follow up on how my toes healed). I found the clinic on Yelp as I was looking for a podiatrist in Orange County. I have had the worst pain in my big toes for years (Knowing it was likely ingrown toenails due to all my years of dance back in high school and college). When I called the Tustin clinic, it was so easy to make an appointment. The staff/receptionist was so kind to answer my questions and run my insurance before my appointment. They are extremely patient and not rushing you off the phone or placing you on hold for a long period. This was my first time seeing a podiatrist so I wanted to make sure everything went smoothly before the actual appointment. When I came to my appointment, there was tons of parking in the lot. I had a family member accompany me for backup in case i could not drive after my appointment. Coming into the clinic, they take temperatures for screening precautions. The receptionist sitting on near the glass window area (Did not catch her name) was very kind and easy going during check in process. I felt so welcomed and glad to be in the clinic. They are extremely professional. They immediately took me in for my appointment right after I did my paperwork -- I usually have to wait 10-20 minutes after paperwork to meet with the doctor at other clinics, so it was nice to be seen right away! Dr Charles Baik's assistant guided me to the clinic room and made me feel comfortable, that is so important at every doctor's office! She would even make conversation about how my day was or how I was feeling. I did not catch her name but she is the one with the light curly hair found in the back of the office by the clinic/exam rooms. When Dr. Baik came in, he diagnosed the problem in my big toenails for at least 5-10 minutes. He asked where the pain was located, he had me demonstrate my gait patterns a few times, and checked the overall anatomy of my feet. He confirmed I had ingrown toenails on both toes and went over the procedure with the different options. I went ahead and filled out some consent forms and understanding of the procedure and the instructions for after care. The procedure itself involved the local anesthesia and numbing of the toes, which was extremely painful. When I came back for my follow up appointment a week later, I was seen for a good 10 minutes after Dr. Baik confirmed my toes were healing well. I am recommending him as a podiatrist. I did not feel rushed with the questions and concerns I had on the procedure or during. He is very knowledgeable, educated, and well-rounded as a doctor. Other reviews on Yelp mentioned that Dr. Baik makes you feel like a person, not just another patient. I'm glad I got to experience that! If you are looking for a podiatrist in Orange County, I highly recommend this team. I've never been in a doctors clinic where all staff and the doctor himself are very warm, friendly, and welcoming! This review is long overdue. I've had about 3 laser appointments so far for a fungal infection on a toenail. I got it from getting pedicures (which I've done for about 20 years and this is the first time it's happened), and I was so embarrassed. I went to two other doctors that accepted my insurance and they were completely unwilling to help. In fact one doctor took a sample and told me that it may come back false negative, as if it happened quite frequently. Surprise surprise, it came back negative. She wanted me to wait another 6 months, get tested again and then see what they find. So basically let it grow more, when it's textbook fungal infection. She just didn't seem to care what I wanted or thought about my situation. I felt like she wasn't treating me as an individual case, but just another patient to check off for the day. Ok on to Dr Charles Baik. He has simply been amazing. From the first appointment he really listened to me and I didn't feel judged. He gave me a thorough exam and gave me MULTIPLE options, which I appreciate because I felt like he really wanted to give me the facts and let me decide for myself. He does not accept my insurance but he's so worth it, I didn't even care. To finally have a doctor willing to jump right in and start helping me means a lot. Also, after 3 appointments my toenail is almost 100%. The ladies up front and the in the back also deserve a shout out. They're always very sweet when I go in. Excellent consultation! Dr. Charles is a great Dr. He examined my foot explained the issue and provided me with all the options to deal with the pain in my toe. I ended up getting a steroid shot in the joint of my big toe which was not painful at all. I didn't feel any pain while getting the shot because of his expertise and caring. I hope this review helps the practice improve. As I have seen in other medical practices, the front office staff doesn't bother making eye contact, and just asserts commands at the patients. A little bit of human warmth wouldn't be bad for the brand. The lobby is maybe one of the saddest medical lobbies I've seen with an intentional bad decor, missing electrical covers, the drabbest brown carpet, bad lighting, insufficient seating, plants with dying leaves -- sad. The Dr. seems like a decent guy although the recommendation for doing the extracorporeal pulse activation at a cost of $200 a session is scammy. At their recommendation of up to five treatments (15 min each), that would bring in another $1k for the clinic. My research indicates it should be done AFTER stretching and other treatments have not been successful. It was presented as a first step at this clinic. Then I researched other practices costs for this type of treatment and other clinics charge as little as $90 vs Dr. B's $200 a session. A nice money making service offering NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE. Then the boots etc they offer are heavily marked up (I could source my own at Amazon for significantly less). I think the days of people blindly going along with anything a person with a white jacket says are long, long gone. People have access to information, they are educated and they know how to do their own research. Everyone can make up their own minds but when someone suggests a pretty costly treatment to speed up healing that could be done without cost at home with proper stretching (I checked with several physical therapists and it is very likely this can be resolved at home with the proper steps and not having to spend $1k for pulse activation), I start to lose confidence that my best interests are being considered. I think one would fairly say to the patient, "It is very likely if you do the at-home work, you can resolve this on your own. If you WANT to spend $1k doing the pulse activation, you CAN but you could wait and see how it goes at home first, then assess the spend". That is a legitimate approach. And that treatment does NOT have to be marked up to that extent as well. I also checked what this equipment runs and its not a $40k piece of equipment. read more

I had an ingrown toenail that was bugging me for a little over a month. The pain was a 7 out of 10, so I couldn't really do my workouts during that time. Also, walking was an issue as my toe would constantly be in pain. Onto the review, I set up the appointment and was able to schedule it within the next 2 days. When I arrived at the clinic, I was greeted by friendly staff and Dr. Baik met with me shortly. He is very amicable, knowledgeable and let me know of the options I can take for ingrown toenail removal. The procedure was very quick and Dr. Baik is very skilled in his field. He was very understanding and asked me if I felt any pain during the procedure. After the procedure, Dr. Baik and his staff gave me the necessary resources for taking care of the toe. Dr. Baik is such an angel! I've had severe foot pain for most of my life that was always quickly diagnosed as plantar fasciitis and I got multiple pairs of custom orthotics that did nothing to ease the pain. Dr. Baik was the first podiatrist to really listen to my symptoms and is SO thorough. He cares about finding the cause of the pain as much as you do and it really shows in his follow ups. He doesn't just stop listening after deciding on the most obvious diagnosis, but orders imaging, PT, whatever is needed. Spoiler alert: an MRI ordered by Dr. Baik showed that I didn't have plantar fasciitis at all.
