Our last visit had us leaving with several bags of my favorite unhealthy snack - Snyder's spicy pretzel pieces ("Buffalo Hot" & "Jalapeno") for less than half of what supermarkets charge, canned diced "Muir Glen" tomatoes for $.99 (that's a pittance compared to regular markets), Harry & David's expensive "Moose Munch" caramel popcorns for a pittance - you get the idea. They pretty much have a little of everything from soup to nuts at bargain basement prices. No dents or shoddy or expired stuff - everything is in prime condition. Since it's all overstock, clearance, or discontinued stuff, you can't count on being able to buy the same items when you go, but there's always something new & interesting to browse in the grocery department. Also be sure to check out some really terrific bargains on small appliances & cookware, & as for books - I'm a cookbook collector, & nearly always score a new volume or two when we visit. All at about a third or less of list price. Bottom Line: Interesting place to stop by occasionally for an ever-changing array of inexpensive finds. And if you sign up for their free rewards program, you get extra discounts on the already well-discounted prices.

Star Wars Where's Wookie". Oh I love look and seek books. Hard back with hard pages for $2.99 people. I got a children's book of animals that has the U.S. English word and the Mexican Spanish word beside it. Hard back book. Hard pages. $1.99. I stayed in the books section a while. Great ideas for Christmas in the book section. I mean, they had an easy 300 books just about cooking. 3x as many for children. Self help, religions, etc. Tons of toys and body, face, hair care. Check the ingredients as always. Check for toxic labels as always. Always check that everywhere!!! Even Mr. Coffee, Coffee Makers have toxins labels. (Don't believe it? Go check). It's on the box on your local Walmart. The entire store, just like Walmart, basically is made, produced or manufactured in China. Not surprising. The store was interesting. I'll say that.

She kindly offered to wrap the gifts we found for our granddaughters , daughter, neice and Mom and we walked out with beautifully wrapped goodies for our loved ones. The deli sucks but checker Chris is outstanding…read more Went in to get some groceries for an outdoor class I was attending the next two days. Headed to the deli for cold cuts and was next in line as a young black dude helped a customer and a large black man (a manager) spoke to him and a female worker. The young man handed the patron in front of me their order. He looked me straight in the eye as I approached to tell him what I wanted and without a word- he TURNED AND WALKED AWAY! He went to a sink in the rear of the deli and started washing something. The manager clown kept bumping his gums and the girl responded and the (now) dish washer nodded. I however, remained unacknowledged. After the manager stopped quacking, the girl finally came up to me and asked my order only to be interrupted by the buffoon manager. It took me close to 10 minutes to get a few slices of turkey!!! Beyond unacceptable. I was literally constructing a one star Yelp review in my mind as I prepared to pay for my selections. I unloaded my basket and was greeted by an effusively friendly employee, Chris. He asked if I found everything I needed and rather than complaining about the idiots in the deli I asked where to grab a steak in town. Chris rattled off a couple of his favourite spots describing the pros and cons of each. He then asked another checker who also opined. I took Chris' advice and went to the PIEDMONT STEAK HOUSE and it was just how he described it, expensive but really good. When I came by the next evening to get some almonds, Chris remembered me and asked where I ended up going. I was blown away! I thanked him and told him that he had nailed The Piedmont. He went on to recommend a couple of other places to dine in Culpepper including a group of food trucks. Just goes to show that one good employee can make all the difference. For one, it's almost always in a state of disorganization and I believe it's because the place is almost always understaffed - so there's usually nobody around to clean up the items that are discarded to the floor by other patrons. The other day, I walked through a bunch of items that were just strewn on the floor in the first aid section. Because it's always understaffed, there's never more than one person working the cash register, so you end up with really backed up lanes. They're usually pretty quick, but you might end up having to wait a little while to get through. They also raised their prices to $1.25 in 2021 and then brought $1.50 to $7 items in 2024 - so it's become more in-line with Dollar General and Family Dollar as a result. The staff here have always been really kind and friendly. I've never had an issue with them.
