Bink's in Franklin can best be described as a small town REI. It's a pretty big store for being on the square, and very well stocked with the best brands in outdoor gear and wear. You can find North Face, Underarmour, Mountain Hard Wear, Reef, and even more fashion lines like Ugg and Life is Good. From what I could tell, they had gear for all types of outdoor activities: hiking, biking, swimming, running, climbing, yoga, and sports for all ages. Prices were reasonable--obviously this kind of stuff is never that cheap, but I didn't think it was out of the ordinary. I could only see one sales guy in the store, but it was the middle of the day on a Wednesday--they weren't that busy! He was helpful though when I asked questions. I much prefer these smaller sporting goods and outdoor stores because of the level of service, and I think Bink's is a great find!

Ok, while I think calling it a "small town REI" would be a stretch, Bink's IS a really nice outdoors store, especially for Franklin.

I called and talked to Luke on the phone and described what my 11-year-old daughter was looking for in a bike - I had a make and model in mind. They didn't carry that specific one, but he spent 15+ minutes looking online and making suggestions of similar options. We decided on one (a Haro) and even though it was above what I was looking to spend, the customer service on a cold call from someone random was top-notch. They even went out of their way to special order a white basket for the front of the bike and mounted it. My daughter has been riding it every day since we got it. Their bike tech Stephen was great on the phone when I described what she wanted in a basket. It's not cheap, but it's not outrageous, and the customer service I experienced was on another level. If you're looking for something that will last your kids many years, I highly recommend coming here.

They first introduced me to a winter obsession of mine - Smartwool socks. If you've never worn them, they are so wonderful and warm and addictive. They are meant for hiking, and that's what I originally bought them for, but I wear them all the time in winter now. The people at Blue Ridge will find you just what you need for your level of outdoorsiness. They are extremely friendly and knowledgeable.

I've never had staff help here that seemed anything other than them trying to make a sale. I went there today with a pair of Vasque boots whose sole cushioning had dry rotted after 3 years. The manager said there was nothing that Vasque would do, and recommended a cobbler on the West Coast who would repair them for $60. Instead I took the boots to Cumberland Transit, and 15 minutes after I had walked out of BRMS, Cumberland said no problem. All I had to do was pay $10 shipping to have them sent back to Vasque to get new soles. It also ticked me off that the lady at BRMS repeatedly said the soles had delaminated, when in fact they had dry-rotted, something I had to point out to her multiple times. In short, this is the worst BRMS store I have ever been in, and one of the worst outdoor stores in the Nashville area, which is consistent with the reviews I have heard from other outdoor buffs. I guess they stay in business catering to the Belle Meade label conscious crowd.

Good luck with that because all we found were small and medium. Have you not noticed the plethora of tall, athletic women in Williamson County? Note, Bombas socks are not with the socks near the shoe section because they find the need to have two sock sections. She also found an unusually low stock of leggings (compared to other Dick's) outside of the Calia brand that she doesn't prefer. Again, see comments about athletic females in this county. On the bright side, they're definitely keeping up with the Williamson County lacrosse craze and offer a tremendous variety of equipment in all popular sports for young people (except maybe ice hockey). So at least somebody there is paying attention to what they're selling.

I pop in on occasion and have shopped for clothes, shoes, grills and coolers. As with most Dick's, they have a solid selection of sportswear and you can usually get a solid deal on good quality athletic and athleisure wear. My only gripe with this location is the service, or lack thereof. On my last two trips in I was looking for something specific and needed assistance locating. Finding an associate that wasn't on the registers was nearly impossible, and when I did spot one, they seemed to scatter when they felt I was going to approach with a question. On both trips, I ultimately just looked, didn't find and left. And oddly on my way out, both cashiers who were not assisting other customers didn't even interact. The store is kept in good condition and is clean on each visit. Always stocked well and easy to navigate. Overall, not the best Dick's experiences.

The location was really easy to find, once we arrived we checked in and were offered some general information about what to do and the location of changing rooms/restrooms. We were also given instructions about the route we would be floating, the vast collection of mussels we may see, and information about other wildlife we may come across, and safteg information. The launch is a quick drive from the base location. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. They got us all set up and sent us on our way. The water was shallow, but still had some nice current in places. The Duck River was extremely peaceful, and not over crowded (the spacing out between groups from Higher Pursuits helped with that greatly). Getting picked up at the end, and knowing where to stop was also made to be a breeze. Higher Pursuits runs things like a well oiled machine and really has a great system going! Between the ease of everything, the peaceful kayaking location, and the friendly customer service I could not have asked for a better experience!
