So, I'm an out of town visitor who spent nearly $300 in their store. I came home and like a man would, I miss-sized 2 of the 3 jackets that I purchased. I came back to LOS ANGELES two of the jackets didn't fit at all. Not even close. I called, and asked for mercy. I told them and the manager that I am asking a favor for 2 jackets valuing $200 and whether I could return them in EXCHANGE ONLY, for the right size and that I would pay more for any jacket. I did not want a return I was willing to pay more and to pay for shipping and handling. I even offered to send the jackets to a friend if handling by mail was a problem. I would pay for all the shipping. I did not want to get money back, I would spend more. NO. She would not even get on the phone. What a blow to "Southern Hospitality", I will never step foot in such an asinine retailer ever again. read more

This is a large outfitter store with all the high dollar high end items. Seems to be overflowing with product but very few deals. I did not have any issues being followed like others reported. I never had one person in the store even speak to me. So not sure if that is good or bad. Maybe they are listening to the reports. They need some clearance items or sales to get me back in. Bink's in Franklin can best be described as a small town REI. It's a pretty big store for being on the square, and very well stocked with the best brands in outdoor gear and wear. You can find North Face, Underarmour, Mountain Hard Wear, Reef, and even more fashion lines like Ugg and Life is Good. From what I could tell, they had gear for all types of outdoor activities: hiking, biking, swimming, running, climbing, yoga, and sports for all ages. Prices were reasonable--obviously this kind of stuff is never that cheap, but I didn't think it was out of the ordinary. I could only see one sales guy in the store, but it was the middle of the day on a Wednesday--they weren't that busy! He was helpful though when I asked questions. I much prefer these smaller sporting goods and outdoor stores because of the level of service, and I think Bink's is a great find! read more

BEWARE OF TERRIABLE POLICY FOR DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE! I bought a North Face Hoodie and got home and noticed the seam on the arm was not sewn correctly. It had a 3 inch hole in it. I took it back to exchange it and was told I needed to send it to North Face myself, and have them exchange it. Won't shop here again!!!! read more

JUST IN TIME FOR THE CHANGING WEATHER! This is a very large outfitter store, especially for this area. I made the mistake of walking in during the recent Dickens festival and it was swamped with visitors seeking hats and gloves to protect them from the chilly weather. It was super cold on this day, so this was the place to be. I didn't need any warm weather gear but wanted to look at flip-flops and boots. Unfortunately I was not able to look around too much because the store was just so crowded. I did notice that they had a large inventory of items for the entire family, kids included. If you are looking to get some outdoor clothing and gear, this store is well stocked and will probably have just what you need. You might just be lucky enough to find some coveted items currently on sale. read more

I popped into Bink's today to pick up a birthday present for my dad (Teva Flip Flops) and to just have a general look around the place. It's a pretty interesting store for downtown Franklin. The actual physical store itself has clearly had a lot of thought and love thrown into it. I should preface by throwing out that I'm an REI member and if you are going in here expecting an REI...well...that's just ridiculous. This is a store on mainstreet in downtown Franklin...and REI is essentially a "big box store". But I digress... If you like North Face stuff, they have a TON of it. I mean, a TON. And it all appeared to be competitively priced. They also have some other name brands such as Patagonia and Under Armour, as well as some locally produced stuff like the Volunteer Traditions line (if you were wondering where you can get your Tennessee state flag bowtie, this is the place). I have been back to Bink's many times since my original review of this location. I have grown to love it. They always have quality things for sale. They sell high quality shoes, clothing, and much more. I recently picked up my first pair of the famous Rainbow Saddles. Supposedly these saddles will out live me. They are so well made! They are great! I have just begun breaking them in and they are starting to feel wonderful! I highly recommend this local gem as a place to get your shoes, clothing, and whatever cool things you can find! It is a bit pricy, but you pay the price for quality made goods. read more

Ok, while I think calling it a "small town REI" would be a stretch, Bink's IS a really nice outdoors store, especially for Franklin. You will not find a large selection of tents, packs or bags, but there is plenty of fleece, caplene, and gore-tex to chose from. One cool thing is that they also have a few Jackson Kayaks in stock. These 'yaks are made right here in Tennessee, by Sparta, and have some neat features you would not regularly find on a Perception or Dagger. read more

Seriously, an outfitters store with all the gear (especially the clothes) that also carries Lily Pulitzer. Alrighty, the selection was impressive and all the standard brands are represented, with Men & Women's clothes about evenly distributed. The shoe selection was OK. Bink's Outfitter's is a local outdoor gear shop, but they really serve the area well and carry a huge inventory of outdoor gear like Robin said, it is almost an identical inventory to an REI or Outdoor World store. Their focus is on camping, hiking, and backpacking. They sell a lot of outdoor clothing and shoes so these items can work for any sport. They also have tents, sleeping, bags, and backpacking packs. They stock gear for both cold weather and hot weather sports. They sell Nalgene bottles in all sizes so if you are a fan of these, this is a great place to find them. read more

Although Bink's has a good clothing selection, it really doesn't have much in terms of "gear." Honestly the vibe is geared towards people who like the idea of being an outdoors enthusiast, sporting idyllic goods. My qualm was when I inquired about return policy compared to REI Brentwood, the guy at the desk turned into a prick, no kidding. And by that I mean he really was a jerk about it (not being a sensitive entitled American here). Details unnecessary, just take my word for it. I'm all about supporting Mom and Pop type stores. They deserve our business, but I bid a business warning when you get your customer service wrong, especially when a potential customer simply asks a reasonable question. I instead smiled, walked out and ordered my jacket from REI that has policies that take care of their customers when a problem comes along. Sure, they can afford to do more as a huge chain, but it too was once a small business that grew into something special. If Bink's has visions of outdoor Empire, you'd better get it write with the little things first. read more

Love the merchandise, BUT...being followed around and being asked every 2 minutes if I need help or how am I doing is not only distracting while I'm shopping, but it borders on being harassment. Every time I have been in the shop, the staff hounds the customers as if they are afraid someone will dart out of the store with something. That behavior coupled with the "Smile, you're on camera signs" is a bit much. From now on, I'm shopping for the same items online. Customer service is one thing, but being up in my grill every time I turn around is another. This review is only for the Murfreesboro location. Have not been to the one in Franklin. read more

Great place!! Wonderful merchandise selection! Purchased Keen shoes for the grandkids in larger sizes for down the road. Six months later, tried on shoes and to our dismay had 2 right feet. Guess what???? They were holding the 2 left feet waiting for someone to call!! The staff was very accommodating and even took the blame. They shipped the shoe with a return label for us to return our mismatched!! NO CHARGE!! This is unbelievable customer service. Certainly would never happen with a big box or even in most cases! We are happy customers and look forward to our return next summer!! read more

Just stopped in to look for son a gift. Gentleman that greeted me as I entered the store was very friendly. I made a small purchase and was going to purchase a gift card but the boy who was at the register did not greet me, ask if I found what I needed, ask if I needed anything else or thank me for coming in. He was talking to a buddy about his wrist hurting. I didn't bother with the gift card. Inventory is part of a business. Customer service is the other. read more

This place is definitely a NO GO. The customer service was TERRIBLE!!! I asked the guy working if they had a specific fleece jacket (by name) and the response was "I dunno we have a lot of stuff over there" he was apparently too busy standing there doing NOTHING at the time to help me look for it. All in all it was a frustrating experience; incompetent sales associates with lacking social skills. I walked away empty handed and went back to REI where one of their employees greeted me at the door and took me right to the item I requested. My advice- don't waste your time with Binks Outfitters. the "customer service" check out girl told me as i walked in that unless i was gonna buy something, they were closed, and she said it in front of customers who were still in the store. so thanks for making me feel like an inconvenience because i wanted to come in and spend a bunch of money. won't ever shop here, and won't let anyone i love shop here, either. read more
