The restaurant is right off of Exit 211 Southbound and easy off easy back on 81. Our main pit stop, traveling South. When you walk in you get to see their large displays of breads, cakes, pies etc. Seating both off to the left and main dining room to the right. Staff is always friendly and great. I think "Brenda" was our server and she was very good. Food Chicken salad melt on Rye, my fault should have changed the bread but the sandwich was loaded with chucks of chicken and was very good. What a great diner! I love stopping here when we're traveling nearby. The homemade breads and pies are insane. Sweetbreads, cinnamon raisin, White bread and at least 1/2 dozen flavors of pies. Breakfast was simple and the prices are very reasonable here. My soft scrambled eggs with grilled ham and cinnamon raisin toast was perfect. Gave our names to the hostess and 10 minutes latter in walks a bus full Of people. We were told we had a 30 minute wait for just a seat at a table. Whenever we travel through northeast Pennsylvania and it is breakfast time we always stop here to eat. On our last visit we had a Philly cheesesteak omelet with home fries and their homemade rye bread which is a must to have with any breakfast. We also had a two eggs ham slice (which was as big a my husband hand) extra crispy home fries and more homemade rye bread. The service was quick and the waitress checked back frequently. I noticed another customer that was a regular and was touched by how attentive and nice the staff was making a personal connection with her. It was heartwarming to see such kindness. Bingham's isn't exactly on the beaten path for us as Los Angeles, California residents, but it is about halfway between Allentown, PA and Syracuse, NY which made it the perfect place for a relatives meetup between the two cities. So we did! Bingham's is a comfortable American restaurant with super-friendly staff and all the American comforts you could want for breakfast and pies to boot. We're vegetarians so there usually isn't any kind of issue finding something to eat off a breakfast menu and the portions and food we received served our needs. I had egg whites with potatoes and a biscuit. Everything was cooked as it should be though I'm not as much a fun of biscuits cooked on the grill after being baked, but that's just a personal preference. The egg whites were cooked perfectly which is not always a given at places on or off the beaten path. Our kid had the walnut waffle which was generous in size and look and he liked it. My wiff had eggs over easy with potatoes and they were perfectly prepared as well. The coffee was okay. I'm a fan of super-strong coffee and this was a level or so above "browned water" so not "send-backable" but not exactly what I'd hoped for. We stop at Binghams whenever we drive down to NYC. We stipped by yesterday and you can never go wrong with any of the menu items. As soon as you walk in you are welcomed with huge desserts. When we were seated there was a really cold breeze coming through and our waitress allowed us to move tables. Our waitress was Delany and she was really sweet and attentive. I ordered the chicken pot pie and french onion soup. The chicken pot pie came with a side salad. The salad was great, just your typical salad and then the french onion soup came out next. The french onion soup was pretty good! The broth was flavorful and the only adjust I'd make would be the cheese type. Lastly, the chicken pot pie was a large portion and delicious as well. Great little no-frills-diner-roadside-type joint just off of I-81. While traveling through PA, I found myself in need of nourishment in an area devoid of options. Have no fear, Binghams is near! After browsing the extensive menu, I opted for the Alpine Burger as all burgers were $9.99 on Wednesdays. With Swiss and mushrooms, this hearty burger, steak fries, and bottomless coffee had me filled up for hours of more highway travel. Service was welcoming and friendly, I was in-and-out quickly. Cute mom and pop place off the side of the highway, highly known for their pies. Stopped in for dinner ordered the Turkey dinner, side of broccoli, chicken soup and a blueberry pie. The turkey dinner was pretty good, meat was juicy and the gravy could've had more flavor but over all a solid dish, the broccoli was fresh... but had mold.. Everytime we eat breakfast at Bingham's the food tastes like steel wool. Everything that they clean with steel wool needs to be rinsed off better after cleaning. The eggs, pancakes, waffles-all taste like steel wool-its not good. Also-do something with the disgusting looking water stained ceiling-ugh. Don't feel like eating after looking up. Simple, homemade fresh food. Stopped by after seeing sign on the highway and it was excellent. I had the chicken pot pie which was served with a simple, yet fresh tossed salad. The chicken pot pie was the perfect size with flaky crust, and thick flavorful chucks of chicken. My husband had the open faced turkey sandwich, which was hot and satisfying. I had a side of mashed potatoes and beef gravy, which were filling but I liked the turkey gravy better. They serve 2 dinner rolls and a sampling of their sweet breads at the beginning of the meal. We saw the generously filled cream puffs as we walked in and opted for this instead of pie at this time. Cream was fresh and light. They are known for their numerous homemade pies, but were too stuffed to try at this visit. I look forward to stopping again when I'm in the area to try their homemade cinnamon bread and pies. Right off the highway and absolutely delicious food. Everything we tried was perfectly done. You know they put their heart and soul into their place. Everything had that homemade soulful taste. I will say this - American food is way to screw up. Bad American food tastes bland. Luckily, this place knows how to cook! We got seated right away and were given complimentary lemon-poppyseed cake and a cherry cake and dinner rolls. The cakes were like your gramma bakes (you know what I mean!) and the rolls were melt in your mouth. They have refillable sodas for 2.75 which is a great deal. The menu clearly states to order dessert first if you have doubts. We ordered the pot roast melt that comes with onion rings. The pepper steak that came with home fries. Then we had a coconut cream pie at the restaurant and a lasagna and creme puff to go. First of all, service is super. Prompt and with a smile. The onion rings were perfect. One might think you dip onion rings in a batter and fry and it's simple but it's not. The batter was just the right amount. The oil was possibly at the correct temp cos that stuff wasn't greasy. Crispy AF. And the onions tender and melting in the mouth in the center. Pot roast was juicy and complemented well with the mustard and horseradish. The sourdough was buttered and toasted on a pan so it was perfectly golden brown and crunchy. This restaurant knows how to treat their potatoes cos they were fluffy and just cooked in the center and crispy on the outside. Beautifully seasoned!! The pepper steak (again seems easy) was so so flavorful and the gravy was just the right accompaniment. It wasn't greasy. Cooked inside and crispy outside. I mean you gotta make those calories worth it (am I right!) If you're not a fan of coconut you can still try their coconut cream pie. It's a delicate, flaky, hearty slice of dessert. The lasagna and the creme puff next day only reminded us of that awesome time we had at Bingham's. And we are already planning our next road trip through Binghamton ;) read more

The food was excellent and the menu choice was amazing, so many offerings. Our waitress was Jean a.k.a. mean Jean and she was terrific. I said to her I am now calling you un mean Jean!! Their choice of homemade pies is even better than a bakery. we had a slice of the lemon meringue and the chocolate cream pie. They were excellent. This is like a real mom and Pop restaurant. What a wonderful place to stop as you're moving along I-81 between Scranton, Pa. and Binghamton, N.Y. It's been about a decade since our last visit and I noticed that while it's always been quite pleasant in this restaurant, they've spruced it up and it has lots of charm. It was a busy Sunday afternoon and the wait for our table was about 10 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. The line was moving along. We were able to peruse the display case of pies while we waited and that was a wonderful thing. The pies look great. The server was very pleasant and attentive. In simpler times she'd be called a "good ol' girl" but I don't if we can do that anymore, but it's meant as a strong compliment. The food was wonderful and the portions were sizable but not overwhelming. I had the San Francisco melt with onion rings. I started with the Lobster Bisque and that was excellent. All recommended. The onion rings came with a spicy sauce that was not too spicy but gave the experience just the right amount of kick. Three of us went here for breakfast. My first time, but not for the others. It's only been a couple weeks since PA has let resturants seat people, so it wasn't crowded. All of us had the same thing - 2 eggs with home fries and toast. My dad and I both had Corned Beef Hash with our eggs. It was excellent. We also went with the "Thick Cut" toast. We were looking for outdoor dining on a Sunday afternoon, and stopped at Binghams. They were set up perfectly with outside dining under shelter from the sun or rain. Plenty of "social distance" space, and a firm mask rule in place inspired confidence in our safety. Binghams menu was extensive. Everyone should easily find something to love. Our meals were excellent and the portions very generous. I rarely, almost never, take leftovers away, but there was too much left to leave behind. I fully endorse Binghams. It's right off the Lennox exit on I-81. Easy off and on, and less than 30 minutes from both Binghamton and Scranton. Just do it. read more

This isn't a review i cared to make, but the food was so bad last time that here it is.. the lunch/dinner is usually good. Not out of this world, but good. The baked goods are good, but again nothing to get excited or over the moon about in my opinion. The breakfast is typically mediocre, however. The potatoes they give you are like something you'd get from the freezer section at your local supermarket, terrible. I have seen/heard of the manager on multiple occasions being rude to his employees, including a pregnant woman. Ordering for takeout is a hit or miss affair, mainly whether you get everything you ordered or not being the issue, however the food started getting between being good or less than average. The last meal I ordered however, was gross. The apple sauce in particular was so bad giving it to one of my dogs would have been animal abuse, it was disgusting. It was so bad I sometimes wonder if it was purposely done that way.. and that's why I made this review. read more

It was topped with tons of walnuts, craisins, and Mandarin oranges. I chose grilled shrimp for my protein. Hubby got a cheese burger. It was cooked well (he asked for medium) but he said it was still moist. The REAL reason we eat there is the desserts! I had a yummy piece of fresh strawberry pie. Single crust, packed with berries. We waited to be seated looking at two with their backs to us, one eating ant the other just talking to her. Finally we were seated. Waitress was brief and took our order. Were were served cold coffee and when I mentioned something, she said the cups made it cold and was told many people complain about it. My wife had pancakes with peaches and nuts.when they came of they were falling off the plate. Normally a good thing but 2 pancakes!! Had a fabulous lunch at this spot I have passed by for thirty years without ever stopping. The waitress was friendly and efficient and got our drinks as soon as we were seated. You can tell she's been doing this professionally a long time. I was surprised at the extensive menu, including many shrimp dishes. I opted for my old standard, grilled cheese on rye with tomato and it did not disappoint. I added fries, which were very large and tasty. The coke slaw was perfect. If I wasn't going out of town, I would have bought a pie, which this place is known for. There were so many to choose from, but the coconut custard beckoned me. On a recent bus trip we stopped here for breakfast on the way down to Philadelphia and also on our way back for dinner. I was impressed at how efficient the staff is here. A full bus load of people along with their regular customers and we were in and out in an hour. This was my first time here but everyone told me about their famous cinnamon raisin bread so I had that along with my omelet. The breakfast was amazing! Also they gave us a sheet to pick if we wanted to bring some pies/baked goods back home when we returned on our way back. This way they would have it all ready for us. My girlfriend and I split the cinnamon raisin loaf, cherry loaf and fruits of the forest pie. For dinner on the way back on had chicken and biscuits (the small entree) and it was delicious. It was not small either, had enough for 2 people. I also split a slice of cherry pie with my girlfriend. The cherry pie was ok because it was cherry pie filling and very sweet. The fruit of the forest pie brought home was very good! The fruit tasted like real frozen berries that had been cooked up. Of course the cinnamon Radisson bread was great but the cherry loaf was just ok for me. Altogether a very nice place to stop and when I'm driving south I will definitely stop here. read more

We stopped here on our way back from the finger lakes. This was honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had. WE should have been paid to come here. Where to start: 1. Soda was flat. 2. We ordered hamburgers and a chicken salad sandwich. Both were devoid of flavor. The steak fries were the best part of the meal, and even they were not outstanding. 3. We ordered 3-4 different slices of pie, which is supposedly what they are known for. All of them were ok, which ordinarily would not be bad, but for a place advertising their pies, this is quite lousy. 4. Finally, the service. We had plates piled up on our table that were not removed. When it meals came, the server handed me hot plates to pass to my kids. My son asked for a glass of water which the server never brought. And we had to ask to order dessert! My strong recommendation would be to drive past this place and pick somewhere in Clarks Summit or even Scranton. Anywhere but here. read more
