FIVE STAR FROM START TO FINISH! Ryan was a true professional in every aspect when he serviced my 2003 BMW. My vehicle's CEL was on due to faulty DLP according to the code reader. He was able to find a severed electrical wire which was the cause of the fault. He also gave me a great pricing on fuel filter and valve cover, which he promptly replaced. Sorry for the late review! I have a 2003 slk230 which I took to Ryan for an oil change and a overall inspection. I was worried because the prior oil change was done at Mercedes benz in san diego. They gave me a repair estimate over 3,000 dollars! Which is odd because the car has less then 50k anyways Ryan did the oil change and also reseted the computer and insured me that my car didn't need anything else. I can't' say enough about how cool these guys are compared to the alternatives. I used to go to another repair shop in town, but after a bad experience there I ventured out for an alternative. These guys not only fixed my '99 M3, but they showed me what was going on with it while it was on the lift. Very cool. I'm a relatively new BMW owner. I picked up a used but very clean 2000 540i Touring with about 100K on it. I knew it had some minor fluid leaks and one potential mechanical issue based on a sound it was making. I contacted Ryan the second week of November and he agreed to take a look at it for me on pretty short notice. His inspection of the car was very thorough. He identified all of the suspect leaks, the source of the sound, and even found a few things I was unaware of at the time. He also agreed to complete the work before he left town the weekend before Thanksgiving. While doing the final check on the car just before I picked it up around 5pm on Friday, the battery went dead and the alternator began making a very unfriendly noise. Ryan (and Max - sorry if I got the name wrong) hustled to get me a replacement that evening and get it installed. All in all he repaired/ replaced gasket covers in a number of places on the engine, the water pump, two idler pulleys, radiator, spark plugs, and the aforementioned alternator. I don't have the service report in front of me but he also took care of a large number of small things (filters, wheel well cover, etc) while he had it. I got a lot of service for a very, very reasonable price. I also got a lot of info about taking care of the car and what to watch out for in the way of problems that may pressent themselves over time. Ryan and company know thier BMWs inside and out. It may sound a bit corny to say so but it felt like he cared about the car as much as I do. I'm hooked on BMWs and this first experience with Ryan has made me a lifelong customer. read more

I got my brake fluids flushed today for my 2008 3-series and I have to say it was a pretty great experience today. I was searching for BMW repair shops and I found this one as one of the top rated shops on Yelp in San Diego. I went in and met the owner, Ryan, who got my info in the beginning and explained to me what their shop is all about. After talking to him, I began to get a sense of what he is like. Despite sporting a large beard and multiple tattoos on his arm reminiscent of a Harley-Davidson biker, Ryan is a genuine expert at servicing BMW vehicles. He explains that they are a business to make customers happy and not necessarily to "strike it rich". I asked them how much it would cost beforehand over the phone to get my brake fluids flushed, and he quoted me $100 out the door and would take about 30-45 minutes. This immediately appealed to me considering how BMW San Diego quoted me $300 and did not say it would take about 30 minutes to complete. You might wonder a place like this would use genuine BMW components. I asked Ryan about and he said they do and the brake fluid that would be put into my car would also be genuine. They keep costs down by having 1 rack in their small garage and Ryan is the primary servicer. You might have doubts about a small garage like this, but the nice thing about this is that the waiting room was next too the rack where my car was hoisted up for service so I could immediately see what work was being done. I explained to them that I was kind of curious how they changed the brake fluids so Ryan was immediately welcoming me to come over and take a look. The transparency of the whole servicing made it feel like as if a handy-family member was working on my vehicle. They were literally finished within 30 minutes. The waiting room was a pleasant experience. There was a 52"(?) TV with cable and a PS3 available for usage, along with a leather couch. I think the nicest/most generous perk is the Keurig machine they have the waiting room. Those machines are pricey and the fact that a small repair shop like this has one with many K-cups available just serves as a subtle reminder that they care about you. Another small attribute that gave me a good impression about this place was they accept credit card, with no price difference whether you pay by cash or card. This may not seem like a big deal to all, but it does irritate me when small businesses only accept cash or they charge a fee for using credit card. I do have to say that I do kind of judge a business if they charge differently for using credit card, and this place continued to impress me. It makes it so much more convenient for the customer. I think this place has been open for about 2 years. This place could be a real BMW Repair gem in San Diego. Hopefully the quality of the customer experience will not fade over time. Highly recommended. Will come back again and recommend to other BMW owners. read more

Ryan at Bimmerspeed is a life saver to say the least! After taking my 2002 325 CI to a highly recommended BMW Certified Repair center in La Jolla, for a simple checkup, I was told I needed a new valve cover and gasket, a new cam sensor, and a new Vanos assembly, with a grand total of just over $900 in parts and labor. A kind demeanor was no where to be found at this shop, it seemed to me that they were only concerned with making money here, no "Hi, how may I help you?" no smiles, just a cold, here is what is wrong and this is how much we charge... So back to the web I went, where I was overwhelmed with places to take my European Model, I called numerous places in the area to get a couple quotes on what I had been told was wrong with my vehicle. I found three quotes ranging from $800 to $950 but wasn't satisfied with any of the numbers. So I gave Bimmerspeed a ring, and to my surprise I had finally contacted someone who seemed genuinely interested in solving my problems. Ryan was a straight shooter from the get go, and advised me to come in so he could give my car a second look. After 20 minutes, Ryan had hooked up his computer and put pen to paper and put down a price that I almost chuckled at. He said my valve cover a ($260) piece of plastic was in perfect condition but the small oil leak that we could see was caused by the gasket itself and not a warped cover like I had been told. He proceeded to make my day by telling me that the Vanos assembly was probably relaying a poor test because of the cam sensor failing to return a positive test. I couldn't tell if he was spoon feeding me B.S. or if he was an automotive genius who knew everything there was to know about my vehicle. To my surprise everything Ryan explained to me was spot on, he said that he would start by replacing the Valve gasket, and then take care of the Cam sensor, then hook it back up to the computer to make sure all problems were solved. I was blown away at the speed that he moved, like a jedi with a socket wrench, he had the top half of my engine in pieces in minutes, with every movement he made something was getting done. Ryan is not in this business to waste any hard earned dollars, the man works hard and does a tremendous job all around. After 45 minutes he came into the waiting room and told me I was all set, he had the computer hooked up and preformed the test right in front of me, I was amazed yet again, all error readings were gone! We had talked about the price before he went to work and I would have been more than happy paying him the price he estimated at $220, but that wasn't what Ryan asked for, he handed me a new invoice with $180 on the bottom line. Having just saved me over $700, and teaching me a lot about my BMW, I wanted to buy the man dinner, but Ryan just wanted a handshake. I could tell that he was happy just knowing that he made someones day a little brighter. So I am new to the Euro Domestic Market and my first EDM ride entering the scene is a 04 Audi A4 quattro! And i was excited to get my first turbo awd car... Perfect small shop for BMWs. Did some DIY on my rear brakes and messed up a backing plate that the e-brake assembly touches. Ended up towing the BMW to Bimmerspeed. Showed and explained to Ryan what happened. They were able to fix the backing plate and installed new brake rotors and pads. Everything works like a champ. Priced was few hundred under $1000. Which was a lot less than other shops quoted me. Plus they don't charge for a "diagnostic" fee. They really specialize in BMWs and like what they do.
