Billys is a very clean neighborhood bar. Friendly bartenders and bar regulars. Great little spot to grab a drink.

At witz end is a good place to relax, dine, and watch live music…read more I ordered a burger and fries. The burger tasted fresh and "healthy", like the onion and lettuce came right from the grocery store. The burger was better than a typical bar burger. The fries are thick, with standard bar taste. I finished the entire meal in one sitting. The beer is mostly domestic, with a couple of popular crafts on tap. I had the Goose Island 312 IPA and Great Lakes Conway's Irish Ale. Both were solid, but I would have liked some more local options. My main bartender had a technique of getting another drink about halfway through my current glass, so I always had something on deck. Both bartenders dressed well, behaved professionally, and were attentive. The environment is clean and relaxed, with a stage big enough to accommodate a four-piece band. I came to see Grunge DNA, an alternative rock cover band, and they sounded good in the space. The music was not overpowering, but loud enough to feel like a rock concert. There is also a touchtunes jukebox when live music is not scheduled. The clientele were mostly middle-age plus, except for the bartenders. I did not see any rowdy behavior. Some customers were dancing to the music, and had good knowledge of 90s rock. I had a good time, and would go back to see another band.

Nice place usually, despite being a Dive Bar. Good prices. Only 3 problems:…read more 1) I get cold sores any time I have a shot there. I've watched them, they rarely wash the glasses before passing them to someone else. Health Code Violation. 2) I overheard the bartenders talking. They have a keg of rotten beer they give people they don't like or they want to leave. Health Code AND Liquor Control Violation. 3) I've had my Credit Card "Skimmed" 3 times while I was there. Once again, I watched. Guy sits at the bar by the register and takes pictures of the cards with his phone. I don't think the bartender is an accomplice, but I'm not sure. Get your act together! Before someone reports you! I don't want to see my favorite bar go down for stupid reasons!

Having tried a few places around Akron for cocktails, I resolved that Ken Stewart's was my best option (still a good one) but sometimes I just want a well mixed drink without all the pomp, circumstance, and prices of a steakhouse. The cocktail menu is quirky and overall solid, plus they can make any of the usual stuff, there's a lounge spot in the front that I prefer when it's available, and on all the tables are boxes of hilariously-outdated Trivial Pursuit cards. My favorite thing about it may be that they haven't plastered a 75" TV on every available surface--they do have TVs but they're ignorable for people like me who find sports uninteresting and commercials annoying. We like to stop and get snacks at Whole Foods or Swenson's on the way in, since they don't have a kitchen. So far they've always been cool with that. I just try to make sure I tip well because I like to take my sweet time when I'm there.

Great mixologist and such fun options for cocktails. Can't wait to return and check it out earlier in the day on a Saturday when we have more time.
