This is a great place to relax for a couple drinks, has great decor and service is good as well. Very comfortable feeling. Our barmaid was great , very friendly. However they don't serve food, you can order pizza from next door to go with your drinks and hang out with friends. And they do have a few board games. read more

The reign of craft beer has mostly run its course in my heart. Cocktails on the other hand, have become more interesting to me. Having tried a few places around Akron for cocktails, I resolved that Ken Stewart's was my best option (still a good one) but sometimes I just want a well mixed drink without all the pomp, circumstance, and prices of a steakhouse. The cocktail menu is quirky and overall solid, plus they can make any of the usual stuff, there's a lounge spot in the front that I prefer when it's available, and on all the tables are boxes of hilariously-outdated Trivial Pursuit cards. My favorite thing about it may be that they haven't plastered a 75" TV on every available surface--they do have TVs but they're ignorable for people like me who find sports uninteresting and commercials annoying. We like to stop and get snacks at Whole Foods or Swenson's on the way in, since they don't have a kitchen. So far they've always been cool with that. I just try to make sure I tip well because I like to take my sweet time when I'm there. read more

Hidden bar for the local crowd. We came to this place accidentally after a fundraiser event. The bar outside didn't look inviting; however, after entering inside, we liked dimmed lights and reddish interior. The Batman- Elisabeth, was smiley and inviting. Elisabeth right away took care of us. I and my friends, we wanted to try signature drinks. She asked what we usually liked in our drinks, and she did an amazing job on our cocktails. After that time, I have visited the bar at least two times more. By the way, they offer complimentary snack such as small pretzels snacks and some nuts- a small gesture but makes you to come back. Todd and his crew are super personable and make incredible variations on Manhattans and other speakeasy style cocktails. Arguably the best Manhattan I've ever had- and they've got a tremendous selection of unique bourbons. It's a nice mixture of regulars, neighborhood folks and other people from all over. There are some couches and games to play near the front, guys like to play backgammon or chess often here. They don't have food but they do have beer and wine in case liquor isn't your thing. read more

Due to the Horrible music at a nearby restaurant (might rhyme with Ben's) we quickly used our skills (phones) to find a nearby place. The bar is in a tiny strip center hidden behind CVS but is worth finding. Walked in to a great vibe. Mixed age crowd, super clean and they know how to make a drink. This isn't a good place, just a pub that has a great brown liquor selection. The owner is as super friendly, greeted us and asked if we were in a hurry as he was training a new employee but made sure to check in often. Drinks were fantastic with a great bourbon and scotch menu (they do flights - yay). We stopped for one and stayed for three. Keep up the great work. One is here to sip and sip not gorge, of course, so on to the main attraction. 1.5 oz pours range from predictably pricey (Dear old Pappy, you tottering overhyped fool) to so generous it makes your reviewer think twice about posting this ($15 for Stagg Jr--well, gosh, let's make it a double, guv'nor!) And for those seeking provocative repose, the men's room teems with saucy wall art (and is even semi-famous for it, a newspaper clipping adjacent to the commode informs you). The bartenders totally picked up on my vibe and were very polite and non-intrusive, kept my glass full, and gave me the space I wanted. Here's the deal: You want a beer, but don't want to go to Applebees. And you're too old to go to a bar downtown. You just want to be comfortable, have a damn beer, and not be surrounded by guys looking to fight and/or get laid. And you definitely don't want to go to a coffee bar. So what's left? A hotel bar? Expensive. Some pretentious wine bar? That's 20 minutes away. And you don't own a BMW, South Point strikes a surprisingly unique balance. It's grown-up but not pretentious. It's very nice but not uptight. It's like a really nice bar your buddy built in his basement where you can chill out and he has great snacks on top of it. Disclaimer: I know the guy who owns it. But if it sucked I just wouldn't say anything. So there's certainly a modicum of bias to this review but not enough to skew it more than 1/2 a star. But I did take the effort to post the same review on Google and Yelp! so clearly there's some enthusiasm on my part. read more

Stopped in for a quick drink and was pleasantly surprised. The specialty martinis are tasty and the atmosphere is inviting. The bartenders are friendly and helpful. The only downfalls are the location and lack of food. They do give you peanut butter pretzels so it's not all bad. read more

It is always a struggle to find a decent little spot to get away for a beer following Akron family get together. This place is a chill little spot offering classic old-fashioned cocktails and bottled craft brews. I enjoyed the Duclaw Sweet Baby Jesus and my favorite Belgian-style tripel the Fin du Monde. This is a great neighborhood bar with an extensive whiskey selection. I would call it a dive bar, and I mean that in a good way. In other words, it's tiny and dark and the goal is to come here and drink. Also, there is no food served. You can do what my friend and I did and grab dinner across the street at Ken Stewart's Grille then walk over here for drinks. Bartenders were friendly, and the crowd on a Friday night was lively. Seating is cramped: either find some seats at the bar, or one of several smaller tables. There are some padded chairs right by the front door. But that's it, so if you get there and it's busy you might be out of luck. The whiskey selection is good. Angel's Envy Cask, Booker's Rye, Bulleit Barrel Strength, and more are available. I just want to reply to that idiot Ian from Chicago. This isn't Chicago. Four people on a Wednesday at 10pm is doing pretty good. Furthermore, it is a hidden gem. In fact, it is literally hidden behind a CVS. What the bartender meant by "make sure your friends are good people" was that we don't like White Sox fans. Our feelings are still a little hurt after the Series. I'm sure you can understand. The owner is a really good dude who knows his stuff. On a slow night, it is not uncommon for him to go out and get pizza for everyone. And I'm talking good pizza, not that Papa Johns crap. The bathrooms are all kept very clean and well stocked with fancy hand soap. I am even told that the lady's room has free tampons. That's class! read more

There were only 4 people at the bar on a Wednesday night around 10pm. Then, I said "well great I'll bring some friends next time" but they said "Ok make sure your friends are good people..."second disappointment.
