In my search for a local, non-franchise donut shop, I visited Billy's donuts. Upon entering the donut shop I was greeted by a very kind old Asian man. He spoke to me in Chinese and asked me what I liked and gave recommendations about his offerings. What stood out to me were the Boudin kolache and bacon and sausage kolaches. The bread here around the fillings is very airy and fluffy and subtly sweet-- exactly what you want in a kolache. The fillings of most kolaches come in both mild and spicy versions. I recommend the spicy of every kolache as the spice is not too unbearable. The donut that I had was not the best blueberry cake doughnut I've ever had. It had a bit of a off or old oil taste that I noticed while I was eating the doughnut. On top of that, the blueberry flavor was not that pronounced. What I did like about the donut is that it had great texture-- was crispy on the outside while still remaining fluffy and light on the inside. The donut holes were by far my favorite thing. They were light and perfectly not too sweet. I could literally eat a dozen or two of these at a time. While the shop itself is not the most clean, this can be forgiven as you can tell that it is aone-man operation. I will certainly be back and I look forward to trying more of his spicy and mild kolache and his good variety of donuts. read more

Billy's will probably be my new go-to donut shop in the sugar land area! I've been in search of a hole in a wall and Billy's was exactly that. The owner is a sweet old man from Cambodia and he took the time to chat with me and make us feel like valuable customers. I got the boudin kolache (amazing! with a bit of spice), sausage and cheese kolache (not my personal favorite - it was a bit bland and too doughy, but overall not bad), and the donut holes (deliciously crisp exterior with a soft and chewy interior that was perfectly sweetened). Small store in sugarland specialiazed in break fast sandwiches,donuts and kolache.my niece brought me here one time it is open from 4 am to 12 pm or somedays till 1pm. when we came they are already closing,Its a family owned business and when my niece told them that she wanted me to try the kolache and that im just vacationing from canada both owners open the door,even have chats with us very friendly they are both asians if i am not mistaken they are chinese-vietnamese. Kolache is a pastry that holds fruit or any filling,statrted as desert in central Europe I tried the hotdog one and the jalopeneo one,it was awesome,very delish and soft,fluffy bread and even i kept the other half in my bag it is still soft after few hours.we also picked up some donuts and i would say its perfect for coffee,theres a lot of stuff inside but since they are closing havent seen the break fast sandwiches the little piggies in a blanket. Tried the traditional glazed and a old fashioned cake donut. The glazed one was great--though not tall in height/rise, the inside was doughy and airy. The icing was a bit overwhelming--perhaps because I showed up at 11am and the donuts weren't fresh? It had a crunchy sugary texture to it. The old fashioned cake donut was odd. Not what I was expecting and had a hint of coconut flavoring in the icing. Doesn't make this a bad donut or a bad shop--just a matter of my personal taste in donuts. I love donuts and decided to try a new shop this morning. I got a chocolate sprinkle, an old fashioned, donut holes and a coconut iced. Let's just say, I took one bite of the chocolate sprinkle and I threw the donut out the window. It was hard as a rock and not fresh at all! Seemed like it was left over from the weekend. If you always feel like your kolaches don't have enough kick in then come to Billy's Donuts. This is my favorite jalapeño and sausage kolache in the Sugar Land area near New Territory. I've been to a couple of different kolache shops but this is the only place where they put in plenty of spicy jalapeño in. You can definitely taste the jalapeños! Billy's Donuts are AWESOME! They serve both sweet donuts and kolaches. I am a fan of the donuts and my husband always gets the kolaches. In my opinion, the yellow cake donuts with chocolate glaze are the absolute best. The donuts are always fresh and never dry...I've never had a bad donut at this place. As a bonus, the donuts (not the kolaches) are egg-free and nut-free so if you have a child with an egg allergy and a nut allergy as we do, this is the only place in town that serves donuts safe for her to eat. We have been going to Billy's since they opened and everything they put out is fantastic! The regular glazed doughnut just melts in your mouth. It has just the right amount of vanilla!
