Love the idea of filling up the flavor I want in my puff. The flexibility is attractive to people like me who wants Oreo Crumble Eclair with chocolate filling instead of the typical vanilla flavor. They offer Japanese Donut which has the same texture as the eclair's, but shaped like a donut (no fluffiness). I had the Oreo Crumble Eclair with chocolate filling, Green Tea Eclair with green tea filling, and the Green Tea Donut with green tea filling. The fillings were filled all the way. Every bite is 50% eclair/donut, and 50% filling. So good! The chocolate filling didn't have strong chocolate flavor. It is the same for the green tea filling, flavor was mild. Despite this, I love the eclair and donuts because I won't be sick of having the overpowering flavors in my mouth. Another plus point, the fillings weren't overly sweet. Sweetness was perfect. The staff were very patient and friendly. So nice of them to explain the menu to me. Will come back for more! read more

Odd service and mediocre puffs. The server asked us what we wanted twice before pulling out an AirPod and finally being able to hear our request. We got our food right away which was nice but the puffs were more pudding than puff. I was disappointed in how much the cream resembled pudding. Unique dessert shop! Stopped in bc my kids were screaming for "donuts" and this place came up as the closest on Google lol! Fair warning, no donuts in sight, but glad we stumbled in! Puffs with an assortment of pre-assembled sauce topping (ube, matcha, strawberry, chocolate), with any filling you want, such as chocolate, vanilla, matcha, etc. There are Thai teas and other goodies, but we stuck with the original stuff for this visit. I must've went to this place on the wrong day. I went on a Saturday, there was only one person working the register making the drinks and adding cream to the puffs. The puff did not taste good to me and the coffee had more milk than coffee. My coffee looked white and for an iced carmel latte thats a no Bueno no carmel either. Also, my husband tried a iced mocha latte and it came out orange. Generally speaking I should've went on a better day or kept my money. read more

DELICIOUS! I am totally blown away by how delicious these cream puffs are! A friend recommended them and I had never heard of them, but apparently they have over 400 locations. I was torn on giving them 4 or 5 stars because the iOs app to order from my phone sucks, but that doesn't take away from how delicious they are. I ordered 6 cream puffs to bring to a friend's house for dessert after dinner. They were an absolute hit. Everyone loved the churros and honey butter shells. The chocolate filling was the favorite of our group. We also liked the chocolate topped one with vanilla filling because it was just like an éclair. When I was there, the guy working pointed out that I got a free cream puff because I had purchase 6. He gave me some minis instead and I got to try the cookies and cream shell. Wow, it was delicious too! They also have mochi ice cream and cheesecake and chocolate fondant cake. I didn't especially love the plain shell, we wouldn't get that again. Once you've had some of the delicious topped shells, the plain is just too plain. I also liked that they filled the shells right there and then so things don't get soggy. They have a cute little carrying container too! It's such a weird name for a place and the signage doesn't tell you what it is, but I guarantee that is if you like cream puffs or desserts at all like this, you'll love these! ENTER SUGAR LAND with their quiet opening. One day they had their sign up. Low fanfare. No lines. Walk right up and grab a delicious puff... and boyyyy did it take me back to Japan for a moment. This is the beard papas I remember! I love all their flavors. The newer CHURRO flavor was so flavorful! I loved the cinnamon sugar coating. Beard Papas opened up in the SL area. So, we went to try it out. It's located between Jang Guem and Somi Somi. There's no actual sign for the business yet. Upon entering, there was a display case of cream puffs to try out. I settled on the Oreo cream puff with chocolate filling. My lil bro got the original cream puff with chocolate filling. My sis got the strawberry cream puff with strawberry filling. My lil bro and sis didn't enjoy their cream puffs. They thought the cream puffs were hard and dry, and the filling wasn't very flavorful. I actually liked my Oreo cream puff. I just thought the chocolate filling was unnecessary and made the cream puff as a whole too sweet. Next time, when I do want to eat a cream puff, I'll just order the Oreo cream puff sans any filling. My sis wants to try out their matcha cream puff next time. read more

Beard Papa's opened in Sugar Land! What an exciting day! It's next to Jang Guem and SomiSomi, so there's a lot of other good stuff nearby too. There's already one in Katy and Bellaire, but I won't say no to Beard Papa's! This one is just as good as the others, but unfortunately it's a smaller space. There's kind of a bar table area by the windows (just like SomiSomi), but otherwise there's not a place to eat. Really, this is really more of a to-go location and not a hangout spot. That's fine though - likely you're not going to just get one - you're probably going to grab a couple and bring them home anyway. If you've never had Beard Papa's, prepare for a treat. These are thick, decadent cream puffs. I don't think I've had better. If you're thinking of those frozen small cream puffs filled with whipped cream and come in a plastic bin, perish the thought. These have a variety crisp of golden brown shells, and they can come frosted with other toppings like green tea glaze, chocolate, or oreos. The fillings are also custard, not whipped cream. It makes them that much more decadent. They have the basic fillings right now, so vanilla, chocolate, and green tea. Great place. If you've never had them before, give them a try. The store smells amazing when you walk in. I got an Original puff with vanilla filling, ube puff with vanilla filling and the matcha puff with matcha filling. My favorite was the ube puff with vanilla filling. The ube glaze on top wasn't too sweet and paired well with the vanilla filling. The matcha wasn't bad but the filling was a little bitter. The staff helps with recommendations for flavor combos and the service is fast! The last time I went in, they had a buy 5 and get 1 free deal on their cream puffs, so look out for that. The cream puffs are not overly sweet, which I personally prefer. They're also pretty easy to eat without making a huge mess. I love how easy they are to distribute since they package each one in its own little bag separately before putting them all in an easy to-go carry case. Their inside dining is available but limited (maybe 3-4 tables with 4 chairs each). Beware if you come late at night that the popular flavor puffs might be sold out! read more

I lived in Tokyo for 10 years and I have very good memories of passing by Beard Papa's shops and getting intoxicated by the delicious smell of fresh cream puffs. This place did not disappoint. Their cream puffs are so good! I think this is the newer location compared to the one on Bellaire. They even had an additional flavor- ube- which wasn't on the menu at the bellaire location. It was so good! We got six cream puffs and they were able to fill the puffs and package them pretty quickly, but it was a slow day for them, there was only one other customer there at the time. The location is pretty lackluster in decor, the location seemed pretty bare, minus like one accent wall. Again, I'm not sure if it's cause it's new or if they're emphasis is more of a window stall style/food cart type location. Basically, order, grab, and go. All-in-all, the location isn't designed as a trendy, hang out spot, like the bellaire location, but the puffs are still delicious! read more

I'd ordered from the Beard Papa's location at Katy Asia Town a couple of times, and found their creampuffs to be very tasty, with just the right amount of sweet. So, when I found out that they opened here in Sugar Land, I had to try them out. I found their iOS app, and used it to place my order (to the previous reviewer, yes, it works!). I arrived right at the time the app specified, and sure enough, my order was ready right when I got there (not like the place next door, for which you'll have to read that review). A very nice and cheerful cashier took my name, and brought the order right out. I ate my creampuffs for dessert (2 chocolate shells with vanilla filling). They were as good as the Katy location. It's a nit, but maybe there could have been just a bit more filling, but now that I think about it, the Katy location does the same thing (I think their machines automatically squirt out the same amount). In any case, the creampuffs were very good! I will be back again, and will definitely order online first. This is surely a nice, light, tasty treat! read more

I haven't been to a Beard Papa's since Hawaii. People lined up for blocks when they first opened. This location's quality is just as good! The cream puffs are Japanese style--the crust is crispy! Even after a day in the refrigerator, they will stay crispy. They also fill them with a cream of your choice, which I don't remember them doing in Hawaii. So, entirely customizable, huge, crispy cream puffs are here in Sugar Land. The staff is very friendly and the place is brand new. So, it is bright and spotless. My wife and I came in for the first time today. Mike, the owner, gave us a friendly welcome as we came in (which is already a rare thing these days). I told him that it was our first visit and asked him to give us one each of his top choices. He chose the crispy almond eclair and the honey butter eclair. Both were fantastic. At the time we visited, they had just opened, so there was only a banner on the storefront. I've never been inside any of the other locations (always someone else picking some up and bringing it over), but this one is pretty small, room enough for a few people at a time. Their cream puffs are standard across the brand: large, crisp choux pastry filled to the brim with lightly sweetened cream.
