We ordered tonight (first time, local customers) to support our school fundraiser in La Grange. We placed the order online, chose the delivery option, and included a tip. Over an hour later, we called to check on the order. We were told only grubhub delivers and we needed to pick up our order. We asked that they just cancel at this point bc we had hungry young kids and they wouldn't - 'it was sitting in a hot oven'. We didn't see anything online that alerted us delivery was only through grubhub - their website allowed us to choose the delivery option and leave a tip. Is it possible to love this place as much as I do without ever having tried their pizza yet? Yes. The answer is yes. After spending a good 3 hours wrapped up in my work down the street at a coffee shop, I realized I had neglected to eat lunch (#fail). I needed to head back to my neck of the woods before I hit rush hour traffic, but knew I couldn't wait until I got home to eat. Low and behold, I spot Bricks Wood Fired Pizza! Well, to be honest it was their awning that read "sandwiches, soups, and pizza" that caught my eye. While I could easily down an entire pizza myself, I opted for a less aggressive option - something I could easily eat in the car as well. Their sandwich list is extensive, so it was hard to choose. I'm a sucker for goat cheese though, so the portabello mushroom and roasted red pepper sandwich was a winner for me. Balsamic marinated portobello mushrooms, sweet basil pesto, roasted red peppers, mozzarella and goat cheese make up this beauty between bread. I didn't realize they offer wheat bread otherwise I would have gotten that, but the artisan French bread was delicious despite being less healthy. At $7 a sandwich it also includes a bag of kettle chips which was a sweet deal. I added a bottle of water to my order and was good to go! Service was friendly and I was told it would take 10 minutes to prepare my order, but it only took like 5 which was great. This sandwich was not your ordinary veggie concoction. It was packed with mushrooms and peppers and the pesto for sure added to this yummy combo. The cheese was the real all-star though, and it was definitely plentiful! For all you veggie (and cheese) lovers out there, I highly suggest this terrific toasted sammie. There's no doubt I'll be back to Bricks' -- so many other menu items to try! This place has been on my radar for a few months and I finally had a chance to try it. I started with the Bricks Sticks (breadsticks). They were okay, there was nothing about them that would prompt me to order them again. Next course - the PIZZA. I have to capitalize it because it was fantastic! As a vegetarian, I am always looking for a good combination of veggies, and the Artichoke Pesto with Roasted Peppers was a home run. The menu description of this pizza is, "Sweet Basil Pesto, Oven Roasted Artichokes Hearts, Roasted Red Peppers & Garlic, Mozzarella, Provolone & Parmesan." The crust was perfect, the amount of cheese was perfect, the flavors were perfect. The only thing I would change is to put a few more roasted red peppers on it. Not to echo everyone else, but the service was great, the entire staff is very friendly. Overall, they are doing just about everything well, but I wish they would switch out the styrofoam drink cups to paper. Next visit: I will skip the appetizers and try another variety of veggie pizza. What the heck happenend, Bricks? You've changed. Your food used to be amazing, but now you're serving crap that would't pass muster in a grade school cafeteria. I hate to do this, because Bricks used to be so awesome, but the food has steadily declined in quality the past couple years. The pizzas that used to be light and tasty are now almost inedible. I'm talking about a paper thin, flavorless crust covered in bland tomato sauce and very skimpy toppings. I wish I had taken a picture of the greasy, gloppy mess that was on the flimsy crust because you really had to see it to believe it. We had ordered several pizzas for company and they were embarrassing to the point where we had to keep apologizing to our friends for the sucky pizza. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time we were disappointed by the poor quality. We've had so many bad experiences lately, I'll be hard-pressed to ever go back. read more

Mmm... yes. Definitely a solid 4 in my book. In a city where Deep Dish pizza steals most of the limelight, Bricks definitely challenges the status quo...and delivers! This might sound blasphemous in Chicago, but I love NY pizza and authentic Italian pizza. So I was stoked to find out there was a brick oven pizza place in the 'burbs that didn't serve massive blocks of cheese on crusty bread. This place feels like it's off in the middle of nowhere in Lombard, IL but it's worth the drive. Love the pizza. Not the best thin crust I've had but pretty darn good. Unfortunately mine was cold when I ate it (my fault) but it was still really tasty. Keep in mind the prices are low because the portions are smaller. The Margherita ($11) is good for one person. It's about 10" but super thin. If you decide to share this with someone you're going to doing two things: 1) be annoyed that you didn't get two instead of one 2) eat really fast so you can power through more pieces than the other guy All in all, definitely try it out. Very disappointing. Ordered pizza and ended up waiting 30 minutes for it. When we noticed people who sat down 20 minutes after us getting their pizza... I went up to ask where ours was. It zipped by as I started asking- and as you'll see by the picture- they must have left it in the oven an extra 20 minutes. Crust was burned! Once we saw other pizzas next to us- it was apparent that only ours was burned. Told the server/busser- and she said, "oh you should have told us right away". Whatever... Is it Brix or Bricks? Even the signage inside the store hasn't made up its mind. Well, even if they are undecided on their name, the proprietors have a clear mission: to provide tasty, quality, slightly upscale but still cheap-ish pizza to the good people of Lombard (and visitors). It's counter service, and they have only a few tables in front, so they do a lot of takeout business. They offer many combinations both basic and fancy, and we opted for the Piluski: prosciutto, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, and olives--a salt extravaganza! These pizzas come out in about ten minutes and are very thin but not crispy, so they are the perfect size to share between two people, if you get something else on the side. We did--the greek salad and the garlic bread; both were pretty boring but worked well with the meal. All that plus two sodas was less than $22. They served it up to us with a smile, too. It was a solid, enjoyable meal, right smack in the middle of downtown with a big front-window view of the Cruise Night festivities. If I'm ever in Lombard again, I would go back, especially because they have some other combos (e.g. the Bricks) which sounded very tempting. read more

I've gotten take out from here twice so far and it's been delicious! The first time I ordered takeout I got the veggie sandwich and my boyfriend got the margarita pizza. The order was prepared very fast and the employees are so sweet! I just ordered a Greek salad with grilled chicken and avocado and I used the yelp check in offer for free bread bites. Neopolitan-style pizza is my favorite style of pizza. Bricks has a very good version with a nice chewy crust with that lovely blistering from the wood-fired, brick oven. I'm a traditionalist so I usually order the Margherita; fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, olive oil. Prices are reasonable and the location makes for an easy pizza pick-up from the train station. However, for those of you really into Neopolitan pizza, I recommend Parker's Restaurant & Bar just a few miles south of downtown Lombard at Highland & 31st. Their Neopolitan pizza's are VPN (certified as the real deal). You can taste the difference. The Margherita was voted one of the Top 25 Pizzas in Chicago by Chicago Magazine. You can order by phone and pick it up in the bar. It's slightly less expensive too. read more

One of my favorite local places to go. Garlic bread is always a go-to with any order I place here (while not on a diet of course) it's delicious. Lots of people come here for the pizza but I usually come for the hot sandwiches! The chicken pesto is great I usually add green peppers for a nice touch but my all time favorite is the Stromboli Sandwich. It usually comes with mild sausage but I substitute that for hot sausage instead to make it spicier. With the pepporcini peppers and cheese it is a great flavor combination...I highly recommend! Last but certainly not least I commonly order the chicken Baja enchilada soup which has the perfect amount of kick to it. It is a creamy soup but is full of chicken, veggies, and black beans. I also highly recommend this soup! There are soups of the day they interchange but I believe they always have the chicken baja. The pizzas are good although they are on the pricey side for being relatively small. This is partially why I tend to always get a sandwich. I don't often eat in but when I do the place always is clean and the staff are always very friendly and welcoming. 5/5 love this place! read more

Deep dish who? I'm sure this next line will seem blasphemous esp when you consider Chicago is known for their heavy filling pies. Bricks has some of the best pizza anywhere. It reminds me of a New York slice, but with more flavor and fresher toppings. The crust is perfectly crisp on the outside with just a slight bit of chew to it that makes for the perfect combination. Whats really blasphemous is anyone who eats a slice of pizza and skips the crust. Bricks will make you a believer and even convince you to start eating pizza backwards. The only thing keeping me from giving a fifth star is that they are low on desserts. I have a strong sweet tooth and their offerings of carrot cake or cookies aren't enough. read more

Fresh, quality ingredients on a lovely thin crust fired in a fancy brick oven... great pizza all around. I must not have read the reviews very carefully, because I was expecting it to be a full-service restaurant, and it's not -- you order at the counter and get self-serve fountain drinks. But the staff was very friendly and glad to clear plates and help us with anything we needed. Three of us split an order of garlic bread and two pizzas, plus a free bundt cake for checking in, and it was just about the right amount of food. But it wasn't super-filling, so if you want leftovers I suggest adding a salad or making it one pizza per person. The garlic bread was nothing fancy, but it was really good bread. And the pizza crust was great -- just the right amount of light crispiness and yeasty goodness. Add in super-fresh delectable toppings of our choosing and you've got one great little pizza. Did we really order two pizzas in one sitting? Yes. Yes we did. I had a hankering for pizza and while I'm a huge Michael Anthony's fan, I was feeling like trying something new. I've passed by Bricks many times so I thought I would give it a try. The inside was smaller than I imagined it would be, but it wasn't super crowded. I think a lot of people take out their pizza. Upon first walking in, I see a bunch of autographs from those that have stopped in. One was from Rise Against. I let out a squeal. Already winning in my book. Then I looked over to the big board with the pizzas. We ordered the sausage pizza, bruschetta and two beers. They say they have craft beers, but they really only had two. Meh. No biggie. I wasn't there for the beer anyway. Our bruschetta came out first. Holy freshness. The tomato chucks were huge and they were incredibly fresh and juicy. Some of the best bruschetta I've had. Then the pizza came. It was perfectly thin and delicious. Real freakin' italian sausage. The crust was perfect. I love wood fired crust. My bf and I gobbled that pizza up in no time. "Can we have another," he asked. Considering we did a ton of yard work that day, I figured we earned it so this time we ordered an arugula pizza. Damn that's a lot of arugula. Kinda made it a bit hard to eat since there was so much on there, but I appreciate that they didn't skimp. We got full halfway through the pizza, so we took the rest home. We left belly full and happy. I'm glad we finally made it to Bricks and we'll likely make it part of our regular go-to restaurants. read more

I made a huge mistake last night by posting a negative review for Billy Bricks and not knowing all the facts. Bricks has the best pizza I've ever tasted and I was disappointed when my pizza arrived cold and thank God I ran across a public relations email, a fellow named Peter is the one who received my negative email and I felt horrible after finding out it was Grub-hub who delivered it without an insulated bag, not Bricks. Peter apologized on Grub-hubs behalf and told me if I give them another chance and order directly through them (didn't realize they delivered) that my outcome we be totally different. I come to Chicago twice a year for training and have ordered their pizza every time, most time two nights in a row, that's how good their pizza is. When I got out of training today I told my wife (who's always with me) what had happened and she scolded me for not getting all my facts right before posting a negative review and she's right and I deserved it. Because their pizza is so dang good and because Peter took the time to explain to me who's fault it was, we ordered pizza again and my wife will not eat anything two nights in a row, except for Brick's pizza. This time we ordered a pizza & pretzel bites and the pizza & bites showed up hot and the delivery driver who was from a totally different store, apologized for my experience I had the night before and upsized my pizza to a 16" which made me feel even worse than I did. We weren't sure how the ordering process worked, but luckily one of the employees came over to our table (where we were deciding what we were going to order) and gave us the low-down. Just got back from a fairly good meal here at Bricks. My friend and I split the Cran-apple with Gorganzola salad ($7) and the Artichoke and Red Pepper pizza ($11) for a very satisfying meal for two. Salad was big and easily served two (we actually shared it with our two other friends easily). Overall I thought it was very tasty but the chicken in it wasn't great which is probably why the price is so reasonable. Ask for another thing of dressing though because one wasn't enough. Artichoke pizza was very good and if I could do it again I would add some meat to make it more filling. I thought there crust was excellent too, had a subtle sweetness to it that I really enjoyed. Friends veggie pizza was not as good as ours but I think that the majority of the vegetables on the pizza are out of season and that played a big part in the lack of flavor. Overall, if the prices were higher this would just be A-OK but since it is so reasonable and the service was very nice I am definitely a fan. Thanks to yelp I found this place! My coworkers were looking for a place for lunch and to have a quick meeting and I found this place on yelp and it stays true to the high reviews. Between the 10 of us we ordered a total of 9 pizzas and there were some still left to take home. All pizzas werw different so we got a good amount of different flavors to try. Most pizzas are about 11 bucks and its all 12 inch pizzas. Every pizza was delicious and being brick oven baked, the flavors were great, crust was crispy, and the bread fresh. The oven and pizza making counter are right up front so you can watch the guy tossing dough! Thanks to yelp, I got to try their chocolate cake and carrot both. Im more partial to the chocolate cake and I was giggly as I ate it!! This whole time the front staff is amazing. They were so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. They also serve sandwiches, salad & desserts! The taste is spectacular, I can eat half the pizza without being fully bloated and feeling like crap afterwards. I've always enjoyed billy bricks. I think they have a good product and I love supporting our local business. BUT.... when you have a house of hungry football watchers and the wrong order comes not once but TWICE, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We ordered a pizza with three toppings. The first one came with two toppings (one being the wrong topping) and the third completely missing (and the best part!!! The meat topping!!!). We called to have it redelivered and a plain cheese pizza shows up. Hangry and disappointment can't even describe the current mood. I ended up cooking some ground turkey, cut up some canned peppers and we made our own at home. Ended up being pretty good.
