Next, we made our way to Merryvale Vineyards where we also stopped to have our boxed lunch. Their inside space was gorgeous and it was interesting learning about the barrel aging process. We finished up at Backstage which was one of the highlights of the day - the wines we tasted were excellent and the seating area is just gorgeous, overlooking their beautiful vineyards. What we didn't expect were all the fabulous recommendations that Colleen gave us. She listened to what we were looking for in our Napa experience and made recommendations based on our feedback. We wanted to visit small, family-owned wineries that we'd never heard of and couldn't buy their wines in Houston. Colleen provided a fabulous list of wineries that fit the bill. We wish we could have visited them all, but only got to 7 over 2 days. We were blown away with the wineries she took us to outside the valley floor. We never would have discovered these on our own! We spent a day on Spring Mountain that was nothing short of spectacular. And for the cherry on top, Colleen herself was fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyed our day with her. She walked us in to each winery, made sure we were being taken care of, and then quietly disappeared until it was time to go.
