If you are only in Sonoma for a day, you NEED to take a tour with Sonoma Adventures. We had Emily as our tour guide, and had such a blast biking through Sonoma and trying out different wines. We visited Tin Barn Vineyard, Buena Vista Winery, Vella Cheese Company of California, Figone's Olive Oil, and Sonoma Springs Brewery. Tin Barn Vineyards and Buena Vista Winery were extremely different from one another - but that is the beauty of wines and visiting! We learned a great deal about how wine is grown through Emily and also had great (and affordable) tasting options. The cheese tasting and the olive oil tasting were fantastic! They were fun activities to do as well. If you buy anything from the vineyards (which, we obviously had to), Sonoma Adventures had a car to pick up all of the goodies and it was brought to their store at the end of our trip ready to go :) No hassle necessary! The bike routes were smooth and mostly through back roads (so we felt safe the entire time). Emily is extremely knowledgeable of the area (she was born and raised here in Sonoma!) and had such a great energy and sense of humor. My husband and I are STILL smiling from our day spent with Emily and others who biked with us. Highly recommend this bike tour! read more

Last Saturday was our first time joining a bike tour and we had a blast! It was definitely the highlight of our trip. Our guide Emily was very friendly and engaging. We loved being led on the bike path, around the neighborhood and through the Sonoma wine country without having to worry which direction we should be going had we done this on our own. We visited two wineries and a cheese factory. We spent a decent amount of time at each wineries and didn't feel rushed. It was hot out so the time spent at each place was perfect to be able to relax and socialize with the rest of our group. We really enjoyed our day with Sonoma Adventure. Super helpful. Rented electric bikes which were expensive especially since we only had for a couple hours but paid for all day. The bikes were good, helmets provided and they will give you a map, tell you places you can go. They are on a main road which makes it harder to get to the wineries. But they have a back way they will tell where to go on a back trail. We had to ask someone on that trail or we would have been lost. But you ride through there get to a neighborhood and find dirt roads and eventually get to one. Long ride day but I would suggest to only get the electric ones unless you want to really get a great workout. The staff was stellar. Thanks. read more

Took a full day bike winery tour led by Hunt. We had a blast! Do not skip this experience. Biking is a great way to see some parts of Sonoma you probably wouldn't otherwise. We went to two wineries, a cheese factory, and an olive oil store. Hunt was chill, flexible, and never rushed us at all. He is a wealth of knowledge of the Sonoma area, and it felt like he knew everyone all over town! We bought several bottles of wine from the tastings, which his staff picked up for us and brought back so we wouldn't have to carry on our bikes. And at the end we were able to buy a specially designed cardboard box from them to take our wine home in, as checked luggage. Since I just arrived back home, I can attest that this box worked perfectly for the plane and definitely saved us a lot of headache. read more

A great activity that I'd recommend to anyone staying in the Sonoma area! My wife and I visited in the summer of 2018 on a last-minute change of plan (due to wildfires), and we picked out a bike tour through wine country on a whim. It ended up being a really fun day for us. Our guide was Hunt, who was friendly, polite, and very much felt like a friend on the trip with us. The route was scenic, and though it was not strenuous, Hunt was always checking in with us to make sure we were fine. No particular wine expertise was necessary (we knew quite little about wine, really). The wineries were enjoyable, we got a fun variety of different wines to try, and towards the end of the trip we stopped at a great little cheese shop and tried a platter, and bought some to bring home. Although it was perfectly fine as a couples' activity, I think it would be the kind of thing that would be most fun with a small group of friends, riding and talking together. read more

We were looking to just rent some bikes for the day. We did not take advantage of their tour. The service was GREAT. The person working was extremely knowledgeable of the area. She listened to what we were planning on doing and offered suggestions of alternative routes explaining why, very nicely, we didn't want to do what we were proposing. She gave us very detailed directions for where to ride. The bikes were very comfortable and in good shape. The whole experience was wonderful, I would highly recommend them. Best place to rent bikes in Sonoma. We rented 8 bikes on New Years day. Hunt drove right to our hotel, sized us all up, adjusted the bikes to fit us, and had us on our way in no time. Many places were closed or didn't have enough, or the right sized bikes. The setup wa quick and easy. Afterwards, we just locked up the bikes at our hotel and that was it. The rest of our time was spent riding the bike path that runs behind downtown and connects you with several local wineries and food spots. I had requested two bikes but accidentally booked them for a day later than I actually wanted them. I didn't realize my mistake it until the night before, shot Yuni and Hunt an email, and they were able to rectify the situation immediately. On very short notice, they had delivered the bikes to my B&B before I even started eating breakfast. Hunt arrived with the bikes and gave me a map and some recommendations for the area. The bikes were in excellent condition and had front-mounted bags for small items, and one bike even had a larger bag in which I was able to fit a wine bottle that I had bought. We mainly biked around the Kenwood area and were able to hit up 6 tasting rooms at a leisurely pace. No problems biking around or finding a place to park the bikes. We tried to use the backroads as much as possible but sometimes the highway was best option so be sure to exercise caution when using the shoulder. Highly recommend renting here, this place is awesome! read more

We have done bike tours in places throughout the world and this was one of the most fun and laid-back tours we've experienced. Doug is a longtime Sonoma resident and former mayor, so he knows everyone and just about everything to do with the wine industry in the area. The tour was 9 miles of bike paths and country roads to three area wineries, Gundlach Bundschu, Buena Vista, and Bartholomew Park. All three have different charm and Doug knows the staff well and gets VIP treatment for his guests. Buena Vista was amazing and his wife Penny brought us a fabulous picnic lunch there. She is a wonderful person as well and their hospitality was terrific. We did not have a visit to the cheese shop as it is closed on Sunday, but that meant more time to linger over the wines! Highly recommend Goodtimes for a different type of Sonoma experience than simply driving to vineyards. Next time, we may have Doug do a custom tour in Napa or another area nearby. read more

This is my very first yelp review ever. Two of my girlfriends and I were visiting Sonoma for a girls weekend. We are all moms so we are up early and want to take advantage of our time away by doing fun adventurous activities. We went to the concierge at the Sonoma Renaissance Lodge and Spa and we saw the bike tours postcard and asked about it. It was Friday and she called Hunt and booked the tour for Saturday at 930am. It was easy to pay at the hotel online and then I immediately got a confirmation email and text from Hunt. We met outside the hotel at the bike tent just to the right of the hotel, footsteps out of the lobby. Hunt introduced himself and had Emily with him as well. They had "Sherpa" bags on their bikes and small zipper bags for us on the front of our bikes. So purses, mini backpacks, jackets, etc... all fit. The bikes were easy to use with simple gears and we all had helmets. Hunt was super friendly and let us know he was married with kids so we immediately felt at ease with him. Emily was also super friendly making conversation about her Sonoma upbringing. The ride was not on too many busy streets but on the couple minutes when it was it was Hunt made sure we were safe and informed all of us exactly how to ride on the bike path. Our first stop was a "history" of Sonoma where we learned about missionaries and the California state flag and other fun facts. We stopped at a house from the 1800s to learn about it and it was at the end of a beautifully paved road in between gorgeous fields. From there we traveled to the 1st winery Sebastiani with a gorgeous fountain and stone structure closely resembling Tuscany. We had a wine tasting that we paid for separately. Hunt made sure he took wonderful photos and videos of us at every stop and they looked professional. After that we moved on to a vineyard field where Hunt educated us on the grapes and science of making wine when the grapes are at their peak. We learned all about how the different types of grapes and even used a special tool to measure them. Then we biked to Buena Vista winery where we encountered one small hill but the pay off was the most gorgeous grounds we've seen and a real fun and exciting spot. Most of the guests were dressed in old timey clothes and they definitely were in the spirit of "Buena Vista" which was rich with history. After our tasting which was 2 for 1 since we came with Hunt and there were 3 of us but they only charged us one tasting fee, Hunt's lovely wife met us and brought a delicious picnic of sandwiches, salad with chicken for our gluten free friend, and organic strawberries and grapes and cookies. We set at the picnic tables on the property and really enjoyed the time with leftover wine from the tasting, then one of the employees brought over more wine for us that was complimentary. It was a delicious lunch with fun conversation. We continued to tour the beautiful castle like buildings and cellars. Hunt educated us on the family that started Buena Vista and all it's intriguing history. It was such an interesting and fun place. From there we went to a small house privately owned winery called Peter Cellars. A former software salesman from London owns the property and makes gold and silver medal wines. He was lovely to chat with and knew Hunt well. We enjoyed that as our last stop and even bought a few bottles since you can't find them in stores. Our way back was easy and fun and made me realize how much fun it is to do adventurous things on bikes. Recommend this bike tour with Hunt 100% if you have a free morning and afternoon. Hands down best part of our trip. Hunt also gave us excellent recommendations for dinner in the square that evening. Everywhere we went we told them Hunt said us and everyone knew him. I did this tour on 4/28/2012 with a friend, and it was outstanding! We visited three wineries -- Gundlach Bundschu, Buena Vista, and Bartholomew Park -- and the Vella Cheese Company while biking through beautiful Sonoma on a perfect day. Doug, our tour guide and former Mayor of Sonoma, was incredibly helpful and passionate about the area, the people, and the wine. From the bike paths to the open roads to the wineries, Doug knew everyone which made me feel at home and certainly helped us get fast service at all of the wineries. In fact, at the Buena Vista Winery we had our tasting in a private room usually reserved for members because of Doug. It felt like he truly enjoys what he does. For food Doug's wife Penny met us at about 1:30PM at Bartholomew Park and laid out an incredible lunch on a picnic table at the winery. The sandwiches and homemade cookies were fantastic (not to mention the two bottles of wine we had just sampled earlier in the day)! The atmosphere could not be beat. Doug only takes up to 6 people on the tour and that is how many we had. Between the biking, tasting, and lunching together, we got to know the other people on the trip which made the entire thing even more enjoyable. And biking through Sonoma is the way to go! If you can bike at all and even marginally enjoy biking you should do this trip. It is not like driving through at 40mph. While biking you can really get up close and personal with Sonoma and drink in the beauty. read more

Had a positively fantastic bike tour with Hunt. he was very knowledgable and accommodating. Our tour was roughly 13 miles long, but was generously broken up with stops at wineries and Vella Cheese Company. We felt like locals, cruising through the back streets of Sonoma and glimpsing behind the scenes at our stops. The tour felt very personalized and tailored towards our needs. I would definitely recommend the bike tour, as we experienced far more than what we could have accomplished renting our own bikes.
