The sandwich was on fresh delicious bread. They have a great selection of items here and we would definitely make the pit stop again - hopefully with more time to wait for custom orders.

It was 50 minutes from the time we placed our order until we got any food. Only 20 minutes to get seated and there were a ton of open tables...they are quite obviously understaffed out front and in the kitchen. Oh...and the potato rounds were just warm, not hot...so they'd been sitting awhile. I got the pork belly BLT and it was pretty good. The pork belly was tender and full of flavor. Big sandwich bun and avocado as one of the toppings. I'd get it again. The girlfriend got the smoked pork nachos since it was one of the gluten-free options. She would have given it 5 stars if it was hot. By the time it was given to us all the cheese had hardened, it wasn't even warm. We did bring this up with the server and she pretty much told us if we sent it back that it might be another hour before we got a replacement. With that being said we didn't want to order dessert. When she brought the check everything was discounted 50% so I think they acknowledged their error of bringing us cold food an hour after ordering. It would have been about $46 for the meal but we got it for $23 and even at that price it was too much for what we got. I'm sure they might have just had a bad day. I would give them another chance and update my review if I was ever in the area. The food had potential and was great tasting...the execution wasn't poor which is a reflection of mismanagement. We really liked the vibe here and all the eclectic items and unique tables. The "thrift store" part of the restaurant is worth walking through as is the downstairs outside area...but after doing it once you won't need to do it again and it takes less than five minutes. Perfect for checking out while waiting on your order.

The space has a cozy, slightly speakeasy feel, with plenty of seating at the bar and tables for dinner. The music area is separate from the bar and dining area where we sat, which makes the layout feel lively without having the music sit directly on top of your entrée. There is also a related shop next door, The Naked Olive, where you can buy olive oils, balsamics, tapenades, and other dangerous things you convince yourself are "for later." By the time we were leaving early Saturday evening, they were getting ready for live music, which added to the local, come-stay-awhile feel. We started with a classic martini, and it was excellent. Perfectly balanced, cold, briny, slightly sweet, and served with blue cheese olives. A proper martini is not just a drink, it is a small personality test. We also tried the monthly special, the Dirty Devil, which I believe had bourbon, Coke, and salted caramel. It was good, but the classic martini was the clear winner for me. Service was friendly and helpful. I believe our server was James, and he helped us work through the menu without making us feel like we were preparing for a graduate seminar in small plates. They also honored us with a military discount, which I sincerely appreciated. Food wise, we ordered the Truffled Mushroom Pizza, which was genuinely good, with mushrooms, onions, peppers, and mozzarella. My only note is that the truffle was very subtle, maybe attending more in spirit than in full costume, but the pizza itself worked and I enjoyed it. We also had the Chicken Chesapeake, a sous vide chicken breast topped with crab and Chesapeake sauce. It came with a house salad and house vinaigrette, which was standard but good. As chicken breast goes, the entrée was well cooked, tender, and nicely finished. The crab and seasoning gave it some personality, which chicken breast often desperately needs. The mashed potatoes were hearty and solid. The vegetable du jour was the one underwhelming part of the meal; I am still not entirely sure what it was, and I do not think it was sure either. Overall, I enjoyed The Naked Olive Lounge. It may not be in my top three Berkeley Springs restaurants thus far, but it is definitely a solid entry in the local rotation. The ambiance is warm, the layout is comfortable, the service is friendly, the martinis are legitimately excellent, and the food is good, even if a few details could be stronger. The price point was reasonable, and I would happily come back, especially for a classic martini and live music.

This is the only civilization between Paw Paw and Hancock, MD on the C&O Canal towpath. Good food, libation, high spirits and good company are the order of the day. Don't let the down home atmosphere scare you away, this is the genuine article. Sadly, Bill Schoenadel passed away last January, but his son Jack and his wife Ann have taken over and there are no plans to close or change anything. Regardless if you're a bicyclist or hiker on the C&O/GAP trail or the American Discovery Trail; stop in, rest, and enjoy the ambiance. It is worth while diversion. read more

NOPE, DO NOT STOP THERE. Not sure why @NPS recommends this place for C&O path travelers. Openly hostile and inflaming rhetoric, 1st evident in their long-winded "Welcome" sign, trying to justify their racist/misogynistic/homophobic beliefs, and it only gets worse once you're inside. Uncomfortable ambiance as soon as you walk in. Greeting an employee and not getting a greeting back is always uncomfortable.. I don't know if it was because my group was a mix of races or what. I've been here a few times before. My wife and I fell in love with this place the first time we were here. The owner is personable, friendly and enjoys his work. You can tell by the way he carries himself. And his wife is right next to him. With her own smile. All that said, the real reason for coming is the beer. This place has much to offer. On the menu are a Belgian white, a seasonal lager, Kolach, Hefeweizen, Irish red, stouts, IPAs, and a porter. I ask you to find that much of a choice in any other brewery and walk out angry. It cannot be done. For today I had tastes of the pumpkin, harvest ale and lager, before settling on the lager. TBH we came for the Hefeweizen but they just ran out.
