BUYER BEWARE! The current owners of this business are not dry cleaning professionals. They ruined a $400 pair of Ralph Lauren linen pants by washing them instead of dry cleaning them, as the label clearly called for. To add insult to injury, they then didn't even bother to press the inside of the pants. The result is that the pants have shrunk and can no longer be worn. Richmond has more than its share of professional dry cleaners who know what they're doing for you to trust your clothes and money to these complete incompetents. read more

The workers can be very rude - they will not treat spots so most do not come out ( especially after they use heat to iron it in !) The building interior is hot as hell but parking is usually quick - right in front ( if you don't mind leaving for home with soiled garments!) . read more

If you are trusting them to launder shirts, wash them at home first then take them in for starch and ironing. Don't use them for dry cleaning - they've been known to add stains On my articles. Beware: it takes at least four days to get anything back. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I wish I could rate this place with zero stars. First, a shirt that was never worn had a stain on it. Then my wedding dress that was supposed to be cleaned had more stains than when I dropped it off. The owner was not accommodating at all and would not refund me. I would not recommend anyone go here. DON'T GO HERE. Prices aren't posted anywhere. I've had to go back 3 times over a period of several days after I'd been told my items would be ready the next day. They are still not ready. $60 for five items (2 shirts, 2 skirts and a dress) seems really expensive. There is nothing like knowing the people who own and run the businesses your frequent and Bill's is no exception. When I lived in the neighborhood they were my dry cleaners of choice as I liked being able to pull up in front of the store, right on Cary St, and drop off or pick up my cleaning without fuss. I also liked that they usually have two on the front desk at peak times. The staff is friendly and courteous and these people know their stuff. You also feel confident that your clothes are not being sent out to some huge central dry cleaning factory. I do wish they would install some central AC with all the money they are making! read more

I moved to Richmond about a year ago. I asked a vendor for recommendations for a quality dry cleaner in town. He told me "Bill's" was the best. So I've been going ever since; and I indeed have been happy with the work as well as the speed. But this week I've stopped. The woman most often at the front (not Veda who is great) is exasperated, rude, and literally sighs heavily and rolls her eyes every time I walk in. Could be morning, afternoon or evening, summer spring or winter....but she is consistently put off by my walking in the door. I just don't need to walk on eggshells when I go to the dry cleaners; I just don't.... They do good work though! read more

The staff at Bill's is friendly and helpful. You can tell they aim to be a nice little neighborhood spot. I had some couch covers cleaned there, and it was done quickly and very well. There was a slight pricing error and I was overcharged, but the woman immediately realized it, was so apologetic and fixed the issue right away. I'll definitely be using them again. read more

I don't usually submit reviews, however, I must share my recent experience with Bill's Cleaners because they went above and beyond in both quality of work and in price. I have used Bill's for several years as my dry cleaners and have always been VERY satisfied, but when it came to my daughter's wedding, I admit I did some research before taking her dress in to be pressed before the wedding and cleaned afterwards. I was happy to find that Bill's was the best price in town and I couldn't have been more pleased with the final result. The dress was stained and black on the bottom when I took it in to be cleaned, but Bill's was able to clean it beautifully. I am so thankful for their quality service, reasonable prices, and professional staff. read more

After exiting the highway and approaching Carytown, I saw the sign for dry cleaners and remembered the bag of dry cleanables in the trunk (2 blazers and 2 coats). There was a man helping another customer and woman. She did not speak to me so I greeted her and asked about prices. Although the woman was very short with her responses, she answered my questions and handed me my ticket. Two days later, I went to pick up my jackets which took less than a couple minutes and was cheaper than what I was originally quoted (nice!). To be honest, I'm not sure if the jackets are actually clean. There weren't any stains; they just needed "refreshing." I know they aren't going to smell Downy fresh but they smell like.... Something.... I just can't put my finger on it. Nothing bad, just a chemical penny smell. Oh! They helped me out with a missing button by moving a bottom button to the top where it was missing. One less thing for me to promise to do later, ignore, then get upset when it's time to wear it. I don't think they charged me for it but thanks just the same! read more

This place is absurdly expensive. I never walk out spending any less than $30. they charge about $10 to dry clean a blouse. I went a few times since it was very conveniently located to my house but I won't be going back, I feel like I am throwing away money. read more

The owner is rude and unprofessional! It appears that the cleaners pressed one of my husband's dress shirts too long and several holes were visible and buttons were cracked on the wrist of the sleeve! This shirt was picked up with several other shirts and wasn't noticed until after he put his shirts in the closet at home. When my husband returned to the cleaners about a week and half later to drop off more clothes to get cleaned but to also share the damaged shirt, he was greeted by the rude owner! The owner didn't take responsibility or offer compensation but immediately said the cleaners wasn't responsible and couldn't possibly have done that! He even asked if we had a pet? When my husband said no, the owner walked to the back of the business without returning! My family and I have used this cleaners for several years and I'm simply appalled of the way this incident was handled and disgusted that we've been patrons of a business that is so rude to their customers. Can't help but wonder if my husband would've receive a more favorable response if he was of another nationality and was wearing one of the suits he was planning to have cleaned! read more

Bad experience. Ruined the faux fur lining on the hood of my clearly labeled "dry clean only" jacket. Changed the color of the body of the jacket. When I asked what method he used to clean the coat, he stated that it was filthly and that he washed it after he dry cleaned it. The worst part of the conversation was having this business owner stick his finger repeatedly in my face making accusations that I was "trying to get something for nothing". I had not asked for anything yet. Since he removed the stain that took me to him, I did then and only then ask for 50% of my $18.50 charge for cleaning.
