My one regret is not taking before and after photos! Brought my wedding dress in to be cleaned about two months after my wedding. I had a very long train that kept coming unbustled during the reception. It was stepped on, dragging on the ground/floor and I'm sure spilled. In the past 6 years I've had a few items cleaned at this branch of Puritan Cleaners. It went smoothly until this year. For most of the past 6 years, I dealt exclusively with one woman (I'll call her woman#1) who was helpful, interactive, and very pleasant. Seven days ago (Saturday) I took in a hand-knitted blanket. I was told by woman#2 that I could pick it up Wednesday. That's fine; I'm in no hurry. Woman#2 did not seem to appreciate my custom. And on the ticket, she seemed to find it acceptable to reduce my name from Kimberly to Kim. It's only 5 more keystrokes, girl, is that so difficult? So I returned Wednesday, early afternoon, and dealt with a third woman, woman#3. I was told that it had been cleaned, but was not yet available for pickup. Grrr. Woman#3 was slightly warmer than either woman#2, but neither would melt a stick of butter if they sat on it. I returned Friday, and picked up my blanket for $12.91, dealing again with woman#2. I sure do miss woman#1. I have more items to be cleaned, and anticipate returning next week. If woman#1 is not there, I'll leave and find a different cleaner. read more

I was a little nervous because being from the 1950's it wasn't in the best condition so I didn't want it to come out even worse. My husband and I got married two weeks ago in a small, socially-distanced outdoor ceremony. Of course, it poured rain! My dress got soaked, and despite my sister's best efforts, the train got dragged through the mud and leaves. My dress is massive and ornate, with six layers of lace, beading, tulle and satin. I didn't think it would ever be possible to get the dirt out when I saw it the next morning. But the Puritan Cleaners in Scott's Addition did an incredible job; the dress looks as good as the day I first tried it on in the bridal shop, and they got it done in less than two weeks! I've now brought items to this Puritan cleaners a couple of times and both times have received items back with holes where solution was applied. I spoke with Tracey, the manager, about this. She said that they could give me a compensation for the item minus depreciation, which was considerate and somewhat fair. But at the end of the day my items have been ruined. Each item was nearly brand new, and had never been dry cleaned before. One was a silk dress, the other a wool sweater. To me receiving the items back in this condition illustrates a lack of care and attention. If an item develops holes, it should be noted and the customer alerted. Let me list the ways: 1. Every single time I walk in the door, I'm greeted by a bubbly attitude and a big smile. Seriously, the ladies who run this location are just fantastic. 2. My clothes are always, always returned to me in prime condition. Sure, you should expect this from a dry cleaner, but sadly it's not always the case. But when Puritan's involved, they get it right every time. 3. Speaking of time, the quick turnaround for dry cleaning clothes is awesome! I don't know exactly what the policy is (because, truth be told, I've never really asked), but more often than not my clothes are ready in one business day. 4. I take my work tablecloth to be cleaned here, and they've eliminated many a mystery spot. 5. They email you when your order's ready! That's perfect for someone like me, who tends to forget I even dropped off clothes, let alone the date they're scheduled to be ready for pick up. I could probably go on, but I think you get the picture. But of course, I have to reveal the icing on the cake that happened today. I dropped a few blouses off at the end of last week, and although they were ready on Friday, I couldn't make it over until today. I was greeted by friendly staff, as usual, but once I got home and put my clothes away, I noticed the best surprise ever. One of blouses has a single button at the back and the loophole for the button had come unsewn. I had been wearing it with a safety pin (I know, I know, it sounds sketch but it was on the inside and no one could see it but me), since I hadn't gotten around to stitching it back up. We have used Puritan home delivery for 16 years. Service has always been great. Any problems with the shirts (missing buttons, stain, etc.) is promptly taken care of. All the route managers have been very reliable and personable. Cathy Parker is our current route driver. She is always friendly, efficient and accommodating. I took a few shirts to this Puritan Cleaners only to pick them up with one of the shirt cuff's thread torn. I brought the shirt back to Puritan and was advised by the staff that the manager was not there and to bring it back when she is. They advised it should be no problem in replacing the shirt or cost of the shirt. I tried to reach Theresa again weeks later and she was not there. I decided to leave it with the staff. Theresa called today to advise that it's the manufactor's fault. The shirt was from Banana Republic and not the first time I've taken a BR shirt to them?!! However, it is the first time I've received an item back damaged to this extent. Usually I will find a button missing here and there but never experienced this! I advised that the shirt was new before bringing it to them. When I received it, it was damaged. She basically said she's sorry but could not help me. I asked for her manager in which she gave me Sarah's number with no extension. I advised that I will NEVER bring anything else there to clean. This 10 year customer will never return.
