I bought a female Great Dane on Saturday 5/18/24 and on Sunday 5/19/24 I had to take her to the hospital because she was coughing and gagging, her tummy was too hot and she was lethargic and seemed too underweight. The same day I got her (within 15 minutes of arriving at my daughter's house) I called the pet shop and spoke to Bill and asked if she was sick?? I was told by both Bill and Tammy that the pup was fine the whole time that she was in till the moment she left. I truly wanted to believe them but as the night went on the pup did not improve. When I took her to the hospital at 8am Sunday the Dr called me in to show me her x-ray. she was diagnosed with kennel cough pneumonia. anemic, febrile, underweight and dehydrated. I was told she was very sick and needed to stay for several days. The DR said her condition was going on for several days and that she was definitely not properly taken care of were she was at. She was discharged from the hospital on 5/22/24 still ill but better, with meds and a $5,546.00 dollar bill! Bill refunded me the cost of the pup but has delegated my vet bill issue to Natalie. She said she would contact the breeders about my itemized bill and she will give me a call back. I know for a fact ( because it happened in front of me) that they can pick up the phone and directly call the breeder at any moment. When I went to see bill on that Monday 5/20/24 I gave him the estimated bill and he right away called the breeder. Now I have given them the final paid itemized bill on Thursday 5/23/24 and have heard nothing back from Natalie.
Bill and Tammy are both very nice and soft spoken but Natalie seems to be combative and trying to be dismissive about the dog being sold sick. My daughter's house is 9 minutes from the shop and on the ride home the dog coughed so the dog was sold to me as a sick dog! They all claim that the dog seemed healthy to them but science, X-rays , blood work and an unbiased Dr do not lie. The pup was sold to me sick and I need to be reimbursed for my vet bill.
Oh, and my daughter has 2 Great Danes and the females got sick from the puppy and I had to pay her vet bill as well, $209. That bill I have not even submitted to them because I am being nice and not adding more to their plate. Keep in mind that the pup needs a followup vet visit and that will also cost money. Instead of enjoying a healthy pup I am nursing a sick pup that needs medications once and twice a day ( total of 5 medications) for 12 days and has to be in quarantine for 14 days.
I charged the vet bill on my credit card which unfortunately has a high interest rate. I need that bill paid before my card charges med interest. read more
