This company did an excellent and fast job of painting most of my house while I was still living in…read moreit. I had contracted specifically to have two seams repaired as part of the job; it was in the contract and we discussed that I could have a lower price if that were omitted. I was very impressed with the way the person who worked on the seams did his work, and said so but a few weeks later - after some minor crises had calmed down - I noticed that the top half of one of the seams was still clearly visible. I contacted the owner, and it was my fault, I know, for not having noticed and contacted him sooner - and he agreed to have the seam fixed. Multiple emails and a phone call later it has not been fixed. In the phone call Edgar said he was short staffed at the time, and I understand it. But months later I still have not entirely gotten what I paid for. I understand the necessity for a past turn over in painting jobs and that short staffing happens, but a contract is a contract. Until the seam issue arose I had been planning on using the company for other jobs.

From Aug 22nd to Aug 24th, I consulted with three independent painters. All three independently…read moretold me that the method used to remove the wallpaper was not appropriate. They explained that applying primer over the remaining wallpaper backing paper can seal it and the adhesive underneath, making proper removal significantly more difficult. I was also told that, in the worst-case scenario, portions of the drywall may need to be removed and replaced if the backing paper and adhesive cannot be removed without damaging the drywall. To respond to the Color Pro Inc. owner's comment: He sent me a refund offer the next day (Aug. 20th) and acknowledged that I had paid a total of $20,000 under the interior and exterior contracts ($10,000 for each, respectively). The exterior painting had not started. He offered to refund $13,800 while retaining $6,200 for what he described as materials, labor, preparation, and drywall subcontractor costs for interior painting work. Regarding the interior work, the work performed by his crew was essentially to peel off the vinyl layer of the wallpaper and apply primer over the remaining backing paper and adhesive, which was again an inappropriate method for wallpaper removal. In addition, the drywall company owner who was on site on the morning of Aug. 19th told me that the walls were not ready for retexturing. The proposed refund was conditioned on my signing a written settlement agreement releasing all claims arising from the project and termination of the agreements. I have retained the written correspondence documenting this offer. Since the matter is currently under review through my legal service, I am not planning to disclose the email itself. In addition, although the house is large, the interior painting contract covers only the walls and approximately 20% of the ceilings. There are no particularly tall walls except in the stairway area. I can provide detailed measurements later to clarify the actual scope of the interior painting work if needed.

It had been eight years since the 76 condominiums and townhouses in my complex had been painted. As…read morethe Project Manager, I held a "walk-thru" with 5 different painting contractors and my choice this year was Accolade Painting, based in San Jose. This is the 3rd time I have been involved in the painting of our 40 year old condo complex, about every 8 years. Plus, I have managed several smaller painting projects. To cut to the chase here-this is, by far, the very best painting job our complex has ever had! The care they took in preparations and the meticulous painting itself is truly commendable. My being very much a "hands-on" person, I was at the site daily. Dealing with the two owners, Tom and Al, was seamless. Within a week of their start date, the Covid-19 virus hit; and there were a series of starts and stops. Often decisions were made in the evening, regarding if they were to work the next day. Through it all, they remained so flexible and understanding. Those two men have a lot of integrity. They never once made a promise or committment they did not honor. And that, in itself, is hard to find these days. All of their employees, from their foreman, Bryan, right on down the line, were exceedingly well-mannered and polite with all of the residents. And there were a lot of "stay-at-home" people, due to Covid-19. I received so many compliments, not only about the painting itself (an A+), but also how diligent the painters were about being careful & respectful of people's privacy and possessions. And how, at the end of every day, there was no evidence they had even been there-the grounds were spotless! Needless to say, I have no hesitation at all, in giving the highest accolades possible to Accolade Painting!

Had them out again for a revised estimate a few months back and finally pulled the trigger. They are responsive, overly communicate (which I love) and have an overall great team. Super friendly and did what they said they would do and finished the job in a timely manner. Happy with their process - they made it easy to select colors, told me where to go, who to speak with, etc. In terms of their bid compared to two others that I received, they came in the middle, and in my opinion was worth every penny since they made it so easy. When I did the walk-thru after they were done with my husband (and we are picky and particular) there was not one thing I needed to have them come back for! Would definitely recommend them and plan to use them for painting my fence outside and some interior projects in the future. Thank you Denise, Mayra, Jacob and the team who did the actual work!
