When looking for a place to grab a coffee and something sweet, we discovered Bilboquet. They had a nice ice cream and sorbet selection! Decided myself to get an Affogato with Choco-Noisette (Chocolate Hazelnut) Ice Cream, despite there also being a Pistachio option. (You can quote me, "Pistachio is the new Hazelnut!) Although they had nice indoor seating, we were on the road to Montebello, so back we went into the car. Boy, did that creamy Affogato hit the spot!!! If ever I find myself nearby and ready for some ice cream or an Affogato, would stop by Bilboquet again. Recommend you do too! read more

After an exceptional dinner, we needed some dessert and ended up here around 7 on a Sunday. A smaller shop with regular/high top tables and some outdoor seating. A good selection of Ice Cream/Sorbet flavors and toppings. We saw Sweet/savory Crepes on the menu also. My friend ordered a triple-Milk Chocolate, Raspberry and Carmel. I got Choco Choc and Cafe. Who doesn't love ice cream? Their sorbets are my favourite, namely framboise (raspberry)! All of their flavours are succulent, rich, mouth-watering, satisfying, and homemade. The service is great, friendly, and welcoming. When you walk in, you get an old school feel of Montreal, it doesn't come off generic at all. What can i say... it's just sorbet right? not quite. Bilboquet is just different compared to all the other sorbet's i've tried. The flavors are quite refined and the texture is soft and silky, I'd even say creamy, for a lack of a better word. The lychee flavor does taste a bit icy, but all the other flavors are silky. My favorite is pear, sweet, fragrant, just a hint of tang. It's like eating the perfect pear everytime. Coconut is the creamiest of the flavors, it's very nice although it could get quite rich if you eat more than one scoop. But it is very intense coconut flavor it's a nice hit if you like coconut. Mango is also a nice flavor, sweet with a mild touch of tanginess, and again smooth and silky. Mango, pear and coconut are my favorites, haven't gotten around to trying the other flavors... yet. It's one of my favorite things to do in mtl, on a summer night, it's around 11:30PM and you want to go out for a stroll... just line up and get a scoop it just hits the spot... you know what I'm talking about... read more

Any self-respecting pistachio ice cream lover should try Bilboquet's. It's smooth, creamy, just sweet enough and filled with pistachio pieces. None of that artificial green stuff (sorry Coaticook). I've also tried their mango sorbet and the Brou-ha-ha; both veryyyy good. They also sell their ice cream by the tub, which is 100% worth it. Happy to have this place in my neighbourhood! read more

Bilboquet is quite a trek from downtown Montreal at 9pm on a Sunday night and you're taking public transport... nestled along a tree-lined street in a very residential neighborhood, it came highly recommended by co-diner at Le Petit Moulinsart. It is one of those utterly charming stores--painted in a vibrant but soothing colours of white and aqua, high-ceilinged, decorated with all sorts of charming tsotskes and illustrations, full of that wonderful smell of sweet and cooking waffle. Unfortunately, their ice cream is not great -- the pistachio I chose tasted a bit too artificial; the boy's chocolate and coffee only somewhat better. San Francisco's Bi-Rite & Humphry Slocombe have ruined us. read more

This great little shop gets long lines during the summer.... People line up to get in and pick one of the great flavors....some of them change with the season...you can easily find pear, mango, strawberry, oreo, etc....great tastes, great flavors. Many smaller branches have now opened around the city, making it more convenient to find...but this little store has a great charm and a great feel that makes it a joy to visit. read more

A very cute little place with decor that is very unique. I liked how they have benches and chairs outside which is perfect for people watching while having your gelato. I ordered the pear sorbet. It is like eating a ripe pear. It was the perfect treat after all the sight seeing that we did today. My sons ordered mango and red velvet cheese cake. They both loved their gelato also. I am amazed to see that this place isn't rated higher.. Maybe I am biased: to me Bilboquet will alaways have the taste of childhood. My school was right nearby and on the last week of school, you culd count on ONE thing: a teacher, at least one, would take us to Bilboquet. Still now, around May/June you can little kids marching screaming "BILBOQUET, BILBOQUET!". Oh, of course, there will always be an American sod to taste the most generic flavor and then complain that they have tasted better ice cream. The one from the supermarket freezer maybe has a more comforting, chemical taste or is it a more heavy mish-mash of everything (gummy bears and chocolate chips) that is labelled as the "flavour"? Bilboquet ice cream is homemade and is full-on 35% cream. The texture is refined and the taste is pure and dense. My usual is mango and Raspberry but alot of my friends swear and Rhum-raisins and the King-Kong.. You'd have to try them all for yourself! And don't hesitate to take the fruit flavors, they are just as satisfying and delicious as the denser, more usual ones.. I am surprised to see no one mentionned their delicious cakes! They're huge and very reasonably priced: a cake for 10-12 people will cost you about 30-35$. As far as ice cream goes: a mini ball will cost you 2,60$, a regular one 3,60$ ("raisonnable"), two will be about 4,45$ ("généreux"), three would be about 6$ and something.. A cone will cost you 30 cents extra will a bowl would be 5 cents (if anything). read more

She's a Montreal native in that my sister first moved there from Vancouver in 1995. My sister has also LOVED ice cream since she was about 5. It only makes sense then that she LOVES Bilobquet. Me and ice cream - it's complicated. I'm very, very particular. Well, I'm particular in general. I don't really like ice cream but I will enjoy certain flavours from certain places. For Bilboquet I make exceptions. Their maple ice cream is heavenly. The flavours change at the chef's direction and are made with rich, sweet, fresh and seasonal ingredients. Bilboquet easily serves the best ice cream in Montreal! I love the fruit sorbets, especially mango. The store has a charming old time feel, and the staff snack on their own ice cream during break - need I say more? There are only few tables to sit, but there is a nice little parc right across the street. So, buy your ice cream cone to go, and take a stroll through beautiful Outremont! Delicious ice creams and sorbets! I am a sorbet type of girl, and I would definitely recommend the litchi or blueberry sorbet. There is no sorbet like Bilboquet. After trying the many gelatos, froyos and ice-cream parlors around Long Island and NYC, coming to this quaint neighborhood (Outremont) glacier in Montreal was a wonderful experience. The queue was long, but not stressed. Just happy families on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. We had the Trichamp (3-berries) and Passion fruit sorbets which were both incomparable! read more

Bilboquet one of the top 5 things about summer here in Montreal. Their sorbets are out of this world, their sugar cones are total yum and their service is top notch. I never eat at the very few tables they have, as I prefer to walk to one of the local parks and sit under a big leafy tree while I inhale my ice cream (vanille framboise, YAY!) Large and spacious interior with plenty of options for sitting/wandering, cup or cone in hand, outside. There was a line (there's always a line) but our turn came in no time. Service was friendly. Perhaps I had very high expectations after reading so many good reviews about the place. The atmosphere is definitely nice, and the neighborhood complements this. However, the overall experience was a bit disappointing. To start, the service didn't seem to care much about the customers. Maybe because their name can bring in enough people. You have to buy the size you want before they even let you try any flavors, which is ok, except that they also limit the number you can try. When I asked to try the third one, the server said it would be my last (it probably would anyway, but saying something in the tone she used didn't help). The variety is pretty good, but the ice cream itself I would say is simply average. It's not bad, but it's possible to find better or equivalent in Montreal with better service. Even in the neighborhood there were other very nice small Gelato places I tried. In particular, I would recommend Kem Coba on Fairmount, or Pagliacci on Prince Arthur. Otherwise, just walk around a bit and there will be other options. read more

I used to love this place. But tonight I had a bad experience... I hope this message makes it's way to the owner. The pistachio flavour tastes like alcohol. I tastes awful. When I told the girl behind the counter, she replied "only 50% of customers think it tastes of alcohol." I replied that we didn't like it. She then said "I don't think it tastes like alcohol." If she knew this, next time they should let people know before they order. And also, maybe offer a new flavour when a client paying 5.25$ is horribly disatisfied. Ice cream is not ethanol! read more

My very pregnant best friend, whom I'm visiting here in Montreal, is having a bit of an ice-cream phase. She asked that we pay a visit to her favorite ice-cream place, and I can see why she loves it. The staff are super friendly and helpful. But most importantly, their ice cream and sorbets taste amazing - especially the mango sorbet, and the red velvet ice cream (ice cream meets cream cheese frosting with just a hint of lemon, and chunks of red velvet cake). Great little shop in a cute neighborhood north of downtown- long list of sorbet flavors, some of which I did not recognize (What's "lulo"? Apparently, it's a South American fruit, like a kiwi in flavor). I had the pear sorbet- smooth, sweet and fragrant! You go in, line up, pay for the size you would like (and if you want a cone or dish), and move on down the line to choose your flavor. If there wasn't such a long line, I would have asked for more tasting samples, but I wasn't willing to risk the glare of those waiting for their sorbets. This place is a historical gem of Outremont! It has been a tradition in my family to eat ice cream here since i was a toddler. And not once have i been dissatisfied. This is some of the most delicious ice cream I've ever had. Smooth, creamy and not too sweet. So many classic and interesting flavours to choose from. My fav is the Brou-ha-ha (vanilla, Carmel and brownie). They have non-dairy options as well ... including an amazing mango sorbet. They also have a menu of delicious toppings and dips.
