As long as you don't care about service after the sale you should shop here. Bought a new Stumpjumper, told them brakes were squealing, waited while they set bike up, got it home and still squealing and not braking. They then called to tell me they forgot to set up suspension. Drove back next day, told them again about brakes, they set up suspension and ordered a new coil for the proper spring rate, got home brakes still not working. A week later they call, coil is ready, I drive back the following business day, people inside, but "closed for holiday inventory" sign on door. Call service, but they won't accept the bike. Worst customer service in Charlotte. I'd had some mild issues with them before, but will not return. Ended up paying another shop to fix the issues so my son can finally ride his new bike. read more

Ok, maybe not the brand you want but they have the bike type including road, gravel, tour, comfort, hybrid, mountain, hardtails , full squishy and kids. They also have a great selection of electric bikes including top of the line class one mountain bikes. Sales staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They can fit you into the right bike for you and your budget. If you are just looking and dreaming of owning that high end bike, they will leave you alone to do that too. They also have all the gear and parts to get you on the trail. Helmets, gloves lights, pumps, tires.................. The service department is there to tuneup your bike, get it back up to riding condition or install those 150mm suspension forks you always wanted. See ya on the trails. read more

There are businesses that are adapting to COVID and others that simply don't have a management team capable of rising to the challenge. BikeSource is a perfect example of a business that is failing in the Covid-19 environment. Bikes are scarce right now so we were happy to find one online that was a model my wife was interested in that was in stock in the Charlotte location and was the correct size and color my wife wanted. So today we went to look at it and if it felt right and was comfortable we were going to purchase it. Well not so fast, you still can't go inside which is absolutely absurd at this point. Every other business has adjusted to this new world with increased cleaning, limiting the number of people within the business at a time, mandatory masks and so on and so forth. Not BikeSource, unlike every other bike shop in Charlotte they just keep all their customers outside in the 90 degree heat on the sidewalk. Ok whatever, so we ask to see the bike we were interested in, can't see it, it's in a box, so the employee brings out another bike in the same line for us to see. Ok thanks, can my wife take it for a test ride around the parking lot. NOPE, we were told they aren't offering test rides right now???? He said she can "put her leg over it." We aren't looking to by some $75 Huffy these bikes are expensive. To ask your customers to just hand over that amount of money without being able to determine whether or not the bike is a good fit is ludicrous and ignorant. Why not use some common sense, let people test ride and take a disinfectant wipe and clean it off after the test ride similar to what grocery stores do with the carts? It's just ridiculous. So at that point my annoyance level hit its peak and I just turned around and left. So we went to buy a bike they had in stock, we can't see it, we can't test ride it so why should I continue to waste my time speaking with a salesperson??? This place is an absolute mess right now, completely mismanaged to the point I wouldn't even waste your time attempting to do business with them. The main reason this business exists is to sell bikes to the public. If a costumer who wants to buy a bike they have in the shop can't do that I don't even know why they are open at all right now. An extremely annoying waste of my time and I'll take my business elsewhere in the future. read more

Ton of selection here, but the few times I've been in here I got the 'stare-down' from employees and I waited for them to approach me to see if I had any questions. After some browsing on my own, no one wanted to help me so I just left. I felt like they were watching me the whole time too. The 1st thing that stands out to me about this place is the service. I was there to just peruse the mountain bikes as I'm looking for a good hobby. I was just checking out the Specialized mountain bikes, which they have a ton of, & a salesman approached me. Usually I hate this scenario, especially when I have no idea what I'm looking for, but this employee really helped me out. He talked about what I might need & what I need to look for. If I had enough money to purchase the bike I wanted, then he would have had a sale. BikeSource has a large selection from beginner bikes to really expensive ones. They also have a bike repair shop & they were working on quite a few bikes while I was there. Their apparel selection is a little limited, but they still seem to have all of the essentials whether you are a novice or an expert. So when I garner enough cash to get the bike I want, I'll head back to BikeSource to purchase. As I pulled up on my bike To the curbside-service, I made a joke by breaking the ice due to the attendants angry temperamental looking face. Where is the pit stop service like nascar has and then I laughed a little .period. There was no response Except a grew laughs from others..I did Get a look from head to toe and then a roll of the eyes From the attendant in front of three other customers....Then the attendant started walking Into to the store. And then stated as he walked in or since you are not obliged to be humored or to laugh and joke ask if it's possible I can ask a question About pricing. Again another role of his eyes and the door closed. I guess since I was on a $50 mongoose it does not come to their standard To even respond to me. I waited 10 minutes and didn't get a response from anyone I had to demand the managers name and number and I never got my question answered. Their service and customer quality of service is of a standard that would cost someone 50 Cent and that is a lot even for them. read more

Do NOT go here during a pandemic. They fixed their mistakes for me which brought my rating from a 1 star to a 3. The way my issue was handled at the every end, the promptness, the phone call, the quality of work is perfect though, but my overall experience was terrible. Below is the original rating from yesterday. They've had my bike for repair for a whole month!! Only for it to still not be serviced. I dropped it off and received a text the next day asking for approval to move forward with an extra service. I replied to that and heard nothing back for 2 weeks. When i come visit Im told I never responded smh so I told them go ahead with the intended service plus the extra service. 2 weeks later I get an email with a work order stating that I never approved any services so they went ahead and did some completely other service on my bike without talking to me first because they were calling me on a phone number which i did not give them. this work order is also a bill, charging me for a service i didn't even ask for so obviously I never approved it. how does this make any sense? This is a poor and sad experience. I thought I was dropping my bike off for a day or two. I just missed out on a whole month of riding because of this. To make it worse, all this service is optional. My bike was surely fair enough to ride but i wanted things tuned up anyway. This is unbelievable and unexpected because I know this place should be much better than this. I likely have to find a different shop after this. read more

The store has a dog that just hangs out in the store and walks around. Totally fine by me, if it's a friendly dog. My husband was looking for something specific with one of the employees, and I was standing petting the dog. The dog seemed happy and fine. Then, completely unprovoked, the dog jumped up and bit my face. He broke the skin, but I had a mask on so there was no skin/teeth contact and I didn't need medical attention. The whole thing was pretty startling, but I didn't want to get the dog into trouble or anything. I told one of the employees just so they would be aware and said I had no intention to sue or call animal control or anything like that- just wanted them to know so it doesn't happen to someone else who will. The guy was very apologetic, offered to get me water to wash the blood out of my mouth, etc. he also said "[the dog] is crazy sometimes, I'm sorry" so obviously they know this isn't a well behaved dog. He goes and tells the owner of the dog/store, and the owner did absolutely nothing. Didn't even come over to say anything to me, and did not put the dog in the back. We were in the store for another 10-15 minutes while my husband completed his purchase and the dog continued to just walk around the store, with customers and even children around. My husband went back to the store about a week or two later to return the item he purchased and the dog was once again out in the store. I had significant bruising on my face as a result of the incident in addition to the cut. Perhaps the dog was just trying to play , but it doesn't matter. By leaving that dog out around customers knowing that he bit someone in the face, they are not only putting their customers and business at risk, they are putting the dog at risk as well. read more

They did an outstanding job. I had a set budget and after everything was added up (bike, clip shoes, pedals that fit), the total was about $100 under the high end of my budget (which initially was just for the bike. The salesman didn't try to pressure me. He figured out right away what I wanted and gave me multiple options within my budget for each item I bought. I came with my wife and kids and when I arrived we were not bum rushed. I like that a great deal. We were allowed to browse and this was great. We were eventually asked if we needed help and the sales person that came to assist was very kind, informed, and professional. Bikes have come a long way and I wasn't used to a bike costing what they do now but the value of these bikes were well explained and I can see why many love the sport and this place. First visit they fixed my bike for free since it was such a minor issue. Second time I got a complete overhaul after I had rode my bike hard and put it away wet for a year. "Can I help you with anything today?" she said; the cashier with the glow. "Sure, how difficult is it to commute to work in Charlotte?" I asked. We talked together for a good five minutes all about bike riding. Apparently Charlotte isn't the most bike friendly town (as far as trails and bike lanes go) this wasn't going to stop her. She explained to me that she was thinking about selling her car and using her bicycle for all of her transportation needs. Now this was a woman who I could easily buy a bike from. She went on to tell me loads of useful information; I remember this webpage in particular: mapmyride.com. This is a biker's forum where people give the best routes to different destinations around the city. Bike Source carries mountain bikes, cruisers, racing bikes, and others. I think I might invest in the Townie brand; they have a slick retro design that I could dig on. A+++ customer service. I took in my daughter's stroller, one of the three-wheeled jogging ones, because the front tire had come off the axle. I didn't know what else to do, and the tire looked like a small version of a bicycle tire, so I figured I'd give it a shot. The guys in the service area were great. They didn't blink when I explained the problem and that I didn't know where else to go. The took the tire apart, realized that the bearings were shot and went to work trying to figure out what size they were. They were able to determine the size, locate two of them in the shop and had the old ones popped out and the new ones pressed in in about 20 minutes. Total cost was around $30! This was a $200+ stroller that the manufacturer couldn't service. Without their help, it was probably going in the trash. I can't comment about the bikes they sell (I'm not a bike guy), but I know good service when I see it. When my daughter graduates from the stroller to a bike, BikeSource is where we'll be going. read more

Great location, great stock of bikes and accessories...I'm a fan! When the weather is warm, I love riding my bike. During one of my rides, my husband and I passed by BikeSource. We stopped in spontaneously to fix a kickstand and saw off an old broken lock...within 10 minutes or so and $10 later they did the jobs and we were on our way. I had no idea that they also had a little repair shop in there...they do and it's quite large too! The staff were really friendly too. This Park Road Shopping Center parking lot always makes me nervous, in a car, on a bike, or walking...be careful and look both ways! read more

My husband bought my bike from BikeSource, they did not put my bike together properly. After riding it my chain guard rattled where it wasn't assembled correctly. They also told me I owed them money for some accessories, turned out they owed my husband a few bucks, they could have kept the money if they wouldn't have hounded me, about me owing them money. And lastly, the best thing about buying from a store like this is the convenience of a warranty and the service policy , well you know they think I am an asshole, so I don't really want to go in there. Has a large selection. We are beginners and have been shopping around NC. We were very interested in a couple of bikes they had advertised for sale. It took awhile for someone to offer us help, which was fine because we needed a minute to talk anyway, but this fucking guy-there are no words. Actually, there are: first off, he simply dismissed my husband. He showed me a couple options but when I asked him specific questions he kind of him-hawed and then left "to check" something for me. The prices advertised were not the same in store but we didn't get a chance to ask because we realized after awhile that we were just dropped, kind of like that one time I tried to hang out with the popular kids in middle school.
