I took my bike in for a tune up. The work on the bike was fine, but the staff I dealt with treated me like I was an idiot or a liar when I explained that the seat bag that was on the bike when I dropped it off had not been put back on. After a call to the manager, they finally found the bag, but I had to make a second trip to the shop to get it. I appreciated the manager's attention to the problem, but the service person's attitude turned what could have been a minor problem into a major one. I'm going to look for a shop where customer relations are a higher priority. read more

Update - I shopped there a while ago and have been back for service - BikeSource is a Specialized and Raleigh dealer - I bought my Specialized bike from them a while ago. The top end Specialized Venge bike I have had for three years and when I had a problem with it - they stood behind the product and contacted Specialized for me for a particular problem. I was there for service a few times for this and other family bikes and the team was great in particular John, Mike and Bryan. I like BikeSource and will likely go there when shopping for a new bike or getting service. read more

Took in a 1997 Specialized that had fallen into severe disrepair. Was seeking to rebuild it so a young friend could learn to mountain bike at low start up costs. The tech did an excellent job what repairs were required to insure it could safely be ridden. The repairs were done quickly and exactly on budget. The bike looks and rides great. I drooled over the adorable cruisier bikes while my boyfriend bought fenders for his road bike (which he also bought at Bike Source). They had to special order the fenders, so the store called him when the fenders arrived and we took his bike in. They installed them pretty quickly and did a good job. The Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful with my questions. I am looking to transition to clipless pedals and the staff clearly explained it all to me and didn't even pressure me to buy. They even recommended for me to bring my bike in and they'll lift it up so I can practice with clipless pedals first prior to deciding to purchase and/or taking them out on any trails. Walked in interested in a bike after many many years of not riding. The idea was to get a hybrid/commuter bike, and their staff was very friendly and helpful. They have all types of bikes, from beginners to pros, but you never feel intimidated here. We struggled to find a TINY helmet for our baby so we could take him out in the bicycle trailer. Gave these folks a call and not only did they have his size, they had a lot of them. They love to lie to you and please do not trust anything they tell you. This is the second time I have tried to use them. The first time was my roommate and I wanted to purchase a tire for a older bike. They told him no problem and it would be around a week or so. We called them and went over there. The parts person tried to find the tire and brought it to us. I was the wrong tire. We had to order it again. The second time I called about truing up my back rim. I explained this bike was my only transportation and I needed it. I ask about a good time to bring the wheel over. He said anytime and I ask how long would it take. He stated 15 mins and it would cost 15.00. I went over there the next day and was told to leave it and pick it up tomorrow. I told them I had called and was told different. I was pissed and told them I would never come back in there aging. One sales person made a lame excuse. No body seem to give a damn about me. So never trust them and be careful because they love to lie to you. read more

I bought a couple of bikes at BikeSource back in late April and since then I've been back at least 5-6 times for maintenance, accessories, etc. I have had a pleasant experience each time I've been at BikeSource and at no time did I find the sales folks rude - for the most part, all the reps I have ever spoken with are helpful and quick to explain things. I usually don't wear a stopwatch, but I think any of the negative reviews I've seen from others regarding the sales reps not being fast enough are a bit extreme. If the shop is busy then obviously it will take longer to be helped... Not rocket science. I would recommend this place to a friend and to anyone who wants to get out there and hit the trails but needs to buy a few things first. Seems like everything I've bought from BikeSource has been fairly priced and has always worked as described when I needed it. read more

My daughter needs specific bike features to feel safe, confident, and comfortable: both a coaster and hand brake, firm training wheels (no wiggly), 2 bells, and a blue basket. Geoff at BikeSource fit her to the right bike for her (right size, right features, right position of the frame/handlebars), even changed out the basket color to blue and bell to the smiley. This is a big deal for my daughter because she has Down Syndrome and lower muscle tone. But she will learn to ride this wonderful purple star bike because she loves it and it is perfect for her. Donald helped me with my Rock Hopper; he took his time explaining the different components on the bike and different options. He was very patient and helpful. After a week I heard a weird noise from the brakes, the guys there were super friendly. They adjusted the brakes and fixed the problem. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!! Technician threaded my bottom bracket incorrectly. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A RIGHT HAND THREADED ENGLISH DRIVE SIDE FIXED CUP....yet this is how the technician threaded my bottom bracket. The manager Mike agreed that this should never have been done. When I asked to be compensated for the extra parts I now have to purchase to make my bike work....he offered an older HEADSET(not a bottom bracket) missing the freaking bearings and locknut!!! The extra parts needed to make my bike work comes to around $30.00. What a cheap-ass. Now I have a devalued frame, have to spend extra money to make it work....and the manager REFUSED repeatedly to compensate me. STAY AWAY!!!! When my husband and I went in there to look at the bikes, the guy that helped us was very nice and helped with explaining the differences in each of the bike models. However when they brought the bike up to my husband he told them that the brakes felt a little spongy and asked could they please check it out before we left, and guess what....they did nothing, told him that's how its supposed to be. We bought 2 Specialized bikes that day and spent $1500. not even 10 days later my husband has his bike back there for some work to be done. the front fork of the bike has a ton of "wiggle room" front to back and his crank is extremely loose. they told him there is nothing they can do he needs a new fork ($400) and had to pay to have the crank adjusted ($40.) being a business where you sell high end bikes you should stand behind your product. I called and priced out the fork they told him he needed and found it for over $100 less at another bike shop. I think these guys need to realize that you piss off people they wont come back. Its ok that he had to buy a new fork but they should have offered a big discount or had him pay their cost, 10 days and the fork is bad...no way. the bike has less than 5 miles on it. will not be going back every again. read more

I brought in my bike for repair here and had a wonderful experience. My bike was my mom's when she was my age and therefore is about 30 years old and the tires weren't holding air. I brought it in and the guy working in the shop took time to look over the bike carefully with me and talk to me about what he thought was wrong and he observed that I was well overdue for new tires and he went through my different options of tires and I felt like he actually wanted me to get the tires that would work best for my life - not the most expensive tires that I would never actually need. He also looked over the gears and brakes and let me know they might need a tune up in a little while, but he didn't try and convince me to take care of that just yet either. Told me to ride it for awhile and see how it felt before committing to getting that repair done because it would be on the expensive side. They had my bike repaired in about an hour and every person that I talked to was super helpful! I will definitely continue to come to them to take care of my bike! read more

Lame. Nothing in stock other than over priced bikes and spandex. Since they had nothing but bikes and spandex, I tried to order what I needed from them since I was there and at the time didn't mind giving them my business. But alas they were asses. Told me to go by one item somewhere else after telling me they could order it for me b/c it wasn't in their catalog and he didn't want to have to "look for it". The other item I asked what the difference between two different brands were and the sales associate pushed the catalog at me and said "it's right there, just read it." After several visits, I can say that I was never offered help on either occasion. Employees seem to think that just because they are in an expensive part of town that being apathetic towards their customers is a way to seem desirable. I suggest for BikeSource to treat customers how they would want to be treated if they want more money coming through the door. Just saying "hi, can i help you with anything" can go along way. Especially in customer service. Saying that, I will not be spending nor my time in this establishment. read more

Great selection and service. I have purchased two bikes here and several accessories have been very happy with everything. Just yesterday I purchased a bike and bike rack and was there at closing time (which I felt horrible about) but they still took the time to assemble the rack and install it on my Jeep for me. They stayed after hours, without a complaint just ensure that my bike was in tune and safely secured to my vehicle before I left. Awesome store! read more

Terrible service and attention to detail. I took my bike in to have it tuned up. I wanted to make sure the front derailer was properly aligned so it wouldn't derail while I was pushing hard (and NOT shifting). I was told that I need a new set of rings since the old ones were worn and likely to cause the chain to derail. This may be an issue if you have problems while shifting... but not once you're in a gear... but I went along and over paid for the part and extra installation fee. When I got my bike back two days later, the new ring was on but the derailer wasn't touched... at all. It was still set up for the old set of rings. Not even close. The chain was "on", but one crank at it fell off. They didn't even give the crank a single turn after installing ( $25) and "tuning up" ($80) mike bike. The manager saw this (I was outside) and came over and apologized and said he would take care of it - I could pick it up the next day. Well I came back and the manager saw me and got my bike. It did in fact look like it had been adjusted to fit the new ring (end stops were in the right place, etc), but a quick test ride in the parking lot revealed that the rear derailer was out of alignment. Again not a very good tune up. So I came back the next day. This time the manager worked hard to not even make eye contact with me when I came in. It wasn't until I complained loudly at check out that I would not be paying for the "extra work" they had to do to finish the job they never started ( I already paid for the parts, labor, and tune up) that the manager finally came over and apologized again. Absolutely terrible experience on a cheap-ish $700 Marin I would hate to see what they would do with a nicer bike. read more

I had a fantastic experience with Bike Source. I needed a hand brake added to my baby jogger jogging stroller. It wasn't an easy request, given the stroller model was discontinued and the parts were hard to find. These guys worked with me ahead of time to research the parts necessary to get the job done, and even got on the phone with the manufacturer with me. I dropped the stroller off around lunchtime, expecting it to take a week or so, and they called me within hours. I got great, personal service on a tough request. Plus, every time I'm in the store, all of the employees are super friendly. Two thumbs up! read more
