Great service. Kind and knowledgeable bicycle repair man and owner. I've been going here for about a year for my road bicycle. Also, the wife doesn't speak much but is also knowledgeable about bicycles. After I got my tire replaced and tube, it was still a bit wobbly. I hate to do this but, cyclists stay away. This is a shop intended for your beach cruisers and neighborhood bike riding and people who don't know much about bikes. Nothing wrong with that, but here's why.... I walked in because I needed some tubes asap. This shop is close to where i live and I figured I should see if they have it. While they do have tubes (off brands), I needed a specific size. None of their stuff is organized and sits in a pile. ( a very messy shop means, very messy service). The worker insisted that the tubes she picked out were the right ones, they were not. But she kept insisting as if I knew nothing about MY bike. I was able to find tubes that would work and reluctantly bought them. At the register, they were more expensive than vittoria's or conti's....Terrible service, overpriced, stores a mess.... not worth it. read more

I love supporting mom and pop store so I rode my bike 3 miles just to go there and make a purchase which I could have done at a bike shop 1mile away. She knew my baby was sleeping in the bike seat and what does she do? She fkn uses the drill and wakes my baby up. WTF is wrong with her? the gentlemen in the shop is nice and humourous, the witch on the other hand ZERO common sense. The shop had ZERO customers and no phones ringing and they were not repairing anything so WTF would you use the drill to wake my baby...she should have asked or tell us ahead of time. After the baby wakes up she says "oh the baby is awake?" like WTF she is the one who woke my baby up after using the drill when she didn't have to. I even looked over to see what she was using it for and it was for nothing. A drill on the table. I visited this shop multiple times to help out the business and bought parts which I could have on AMAZON. DO A BETTER JOB OF CUSTOMER SERVICE OR ELSE YOU WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS AGAIN! The worst shop I've ever been in in my whole life. Customer service was horrible, a waste of time and money took Uber there twice totalling almost 80 dollars to but a 30 dollar cassette, which the lady failed to put in my bag. Didn't notice the cassette was missing til I was home and they were closed so I call the owner the next day who isn't at the shop it tells me to go and his wife will give it to me. So I take yet another Uber to the shop and the lady refused to give it toe so I end up having to pay for a second cassette. The lady offers to review the camera footage and I agree because I know she didn't give it to me the first time I bought it then she refuses. I love this shop for a number of reasons 1. Friendly staff and service. Every time I walk in I'm greeted promptly and with a smile. Seriously Jay takes such good care of his customers. It doesn't matter how many questions you have. He's patient and wants to help. 2. They carry top brands like Specialized, Continental tires, and more. 3. Prices are competitive. I've been to some really snooty specialized concept stores that from the moment you walk in you feel like an inconvenience or like you don't belong. Not here. My first impression was, "I need a light!" I was biking and didn't realize how dark it was getting. Coincidently, I passed by this bike shop and stepped in just to buy a light for my bike. Thank goodness this place was open or else I would've been biking in the scary streets of Lincoln Ave. and wouldn't know if a crackhead hit me or not. It's a bit of an exaggeration, well...not really, let's just say day and night are two different stories on Lincoln and Moody. Anyways, I walked in, and these workers are super friendly and helpful in not only picking out a light for me at a reasonable price, but he takes my bike to the back and installs it for me too. How nice! The workers were younger, looked like skater boys and seemed like they're in college. Then the owner of the place comes out, which is this funny Korean man who offered to pump my tires after checking out the air pressure. I thought, man this place has great service, I might as well get all the accessories I meant to buy anyways right now...so I look for a bike lock and basket, and these guys just give me a discount. It's my lucky day, and thanks to them let's just say I biked home pretty safely. Bike Land looks a little run down from the outside, and it's definitely a local spot. Locals know about it, and they keep coming back because of the friendly service and good quality with great prices. They have all your bike supply needs from beach cruisers, fixies, mountain bikes, accessories, decals, EVERYTHING! The lasting impression? Just returned from picking my bike up (needed new inner tubes), and I am not happy with the service, nor the price. I dropped it off yesterday, so I wasn't expecting it to be ready until today (as they promised), and I called ahead to make sure it WAS ready, to which I show up to the shop and find out it's not even close to being ready, the worker (possibly owner?) jumped right on it though. The tubes cost $7 a piece (quite expensive already), but the labor ALSO costs $7 PER tube (I was told $7 *total* for labor beforehand by the 1st employee I dealt with). So they 1) Lied to my face, 2) Lied to me on the phone, 3) Provided sub-par service, 4) Wasted my time, AND 5) They price gouge BIG time ($14 for 15 minutes of fairly basic work, my ignorance of tire tubes shouldn't cost a dollar per minute). They got my business once, and never again. Hope the $28 was worth losing a customer forever. read more

This place is a nightmare. I signed up on yelp only because I wanted to let you know guys how much I hate Bikeland. I'm a student, I use my bike everyday to go to school and back home. I've been to this place 3 times only because it's the closest bike store around. I have no idea who was the owner 1 or 2 years ago but right now the guy who works there totally sucks. He's not helpful at all, doesn't really care about their customers. This place is TOTALLY overpriced. Like I remember I had flat tire and needed to fix it. The guy said i can come by in 2h and it's gonna be $20. $20?! really? for what? Today I had my pedal broken, he said it will be done in 2 h and it's $30. I came 4 ours later and he said he forgot to do it, and that I should come back tomorrow. Anyway, THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. It shouldn't even exist. Came here because the gears on my 10 speed were not working properly. After looking at the bike for .5 seconds the sales guy blurts out that we need to simply change the chain and put some new tires on it and it will be fine. OK sure just want to be able to ride it smoothly. Left the bike and came back a few days later. Whelp i paid $70 and my gears are in the same state as I left them, but at least I have a shiny new chain and new tires. Not ever going back. read more

So I've been to other bike shops that are a slight closer to my house but this bike shop is next to my school and is only a few mile away anyways. The owner here is really experienced and very helpful and knowledgeable about bicycles. Some people talked about their price being too high but I was just at a couple bike shops yesterday because bike land was closed and I really needed a couple parts and I found bike land to be a lot cheaper. I've been coming here for a while and what keeps me coming back is the quality of the service since the owner here knows what he is doing. He's sometimes busy I think and sometimes he's not as helpful but most of the time he is great! read more

I bought my first full suspension mountain bike from this guy, and when I went to buy it he says I don't need to set the sag on the suspension and that the factory settings are better which I knew was bs but he insisted (You need to set sag based on weight it was set for a 200 pound guy, I'm 140). I was unable to check any thing at the shop because he rushed me, later I find out the end point adjustments on the rear and front derailleur are totally wrong and the index setting for both of the derailleurs are wrong and took it in for a free tune up and he didn't fix it and he opened up the shock which he was not instructed to do and let the air seek out ultimately ruining my trip to the mountains to bike. He also did not let me know that this is a 6 year old bike. *The chain was also f**ked up way too loose. *The cable management was also vary sh**ty. The brakes where bad too but that is not so much his fault only the manufacturer of the bike, all the problems listed above he is at fault. In conclusion, Go to any other bike shop, Bike land Cypress Has horrible mechanical work and you are better off going to a used car dealer, at least they let you know whats wrong. Every other bike shop I've visited I've either been ripped off or sent home saying they can't (or won't) help me with an old Schwinn restoration project I have. The owner of this joint is absolutely top notch and very helpful. He freely offers tips and ideas on how to move my project forward. I feel like he is always looking for ways to save me money and make me happy. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to help me with the rusted bike I brought in because it was just too far gone...but, I will take all my business here in the future and you should too. Honest, hard working, knowledgeable, and an all around great staff. Bikeland is my local go-to bike shop. Many times, Jay Lee (owner) has done minor repairs on my bikes for no charge. The shop doesn't have EVERYTHING, but they have all the basic items you'll go to a bike shop for. they have done every odd ball repair I have thrown at them. Even finding a replacement chain ring for my very old single speed road bike, after I could not find it at other shops and on line. Jay does have an attatude, it's true. Cypress is full of friendly, helpful people. Bike Land may be the exception. I knew that something was wrong with the back tire of my bike and that the problem was getting worse. On my last trip out it stopped. It was stuck and refused to roll. I dragged my bike into Bike Land and asked for assistance. The person working there looked at my bike and said it was cheap and that there was nothing he could do about it. He recommended that I buy a better bike. I asked again if he would please take a look at my bike, hoping that he would give it a chance. He repeated that my bike was cheap and asked "you got me?" Yeah. I gotcha. read more

You can't base a review off one experience going to a bike shop. I've lived in the area for years and years and always fixed my own bikes and bought tires, tubes, etc from another bike shop about 10 minutes away. I decided to go to this shop just to check they're product and see the different kind of bikes they have and specialize in. My review is based on me going in this shop about 6 or 7 times. They have a good selection of beach cruisers and all the accessories you need for any type of bike. 4 stars on the selection. 0 stars on helping the customer in what you need. I was in the shop with a buddy of mine and a guy about 20/21 looking came in looking at the seats. He asked the owner if this would fit a road bike (holding a mountain bike seat up) and the man said, "yeah, sure it would" with no enthusiasm whatsoever. My friend worked as a mechanic in the shop growing up and he tells me the owner does not care as long as he gets a sale. That's clearly how it is and you can tell instantly when you walk in. 1 star. I recently went in to get a new tube cause the old shop I go to was out of presta valves and I was in desperate need of a tube. I go to the shop and ask for the certain tube and I get it no problem. I come home, open the package and it's a used tube... I go back to the shop and argue telling him it's a used tube. So he proceeds to tell me it's brand new even though 1. It has a hole in it and 2. It doesnt have a screw to hold the stem to the rim nor does it have a valve cap. He pumps it up to try to prove it's new and good. Of course it slowly deflates. I continue to argue due to me not wanting to buy ANOTHER new tube and he gives me one after 15 minutes of arguing. This shop does have a good selection on products just be knowledgeable on what you want before you go in. read more

I took my bike to get my tires replaced. When I picked it up i noticed my brakes were way off. before bringing it in I was able to skid because my brakes could make the wheels lock. now it takes about 10feet to make a full stop with brake handles fully engaged. I brought it back thinking JAY would be cool about it and simply make the quick adjustment for me (which in his words is very easy to do) . we discussed for 25mins. he said it's not their policy to touch the brakes for a tire change and how he can't fix it without charging me another $25. I'm very disappointed. this guy was trying to tell me that both my front and rear brakes became unadjusted on their own from the time i picked up my bike to when i started riding it. he says he's not even sure who worked on my bike and he can't be responsible. seriously this business is a joke. he did offer in the end to do it for $15. that wasn't gonna happen. it's a good thing these guys aren't trying to fix cars. UPDATE: I took my bike to the Santa Fe Springs swap meet. a gentleman fixing and selling bike parts fixed my brakes for free. it took him about 3mins to adjust both brakes. super cool dude. I have a low budget simple mountain bike that I purchased from Walmart a few weeks ago. Last week I ran into some thorns and my front tire developed a slow leak. A friend of mine recommended me to go to BikeLand but I was a little hesitant because I assumed bicycle shops cater to only expensive performance bikes; like Lance Armstrong stuff. In addition other than a few weeks ago I had not rode a bicycle since the 90s. My assumption was wrong as this shop works on various types of bikes. From a beach cruiser up to bikes that look like tour de France stuff. I stopped by the store yesterday and spoke with an Asian gentleman who I assume is the owner. He was real cool and explained to me the different types of inner tubes that are heavy duty. Him and his coworker were busy working on other bikes in the back but the owner made everything real simple. Purchasing the heavy duty inner tube and having it installed I paid a total of $17, which is a reasonable price. About two hours later my bike was ready. So my conclusion as this was my first experience at Bikeland is the owner is an energetic person who seems to value any customer no matter what type of bike you bring in. When I rode off he actually looked happy for me that I was back on the road riding; showing that even a simple job for him he still takes pride in. #1 Here is the main reason I will return as a customer and recommend this shop. Right when I was about to leave his shop the owner mentioned that he had to remove my bike chain and mentioned something about my seat. I didn't know exactly what he was referring to regarding my seat but I do know that my bike is somewhat uncomfortable to ride since the first day i bought it. Well as soon as I said Thank you and peddled my bike toward home my bike had such a smooth ride and was extremely comfortable. I got off the bike and realized the owner had risen my seat up for me without charging me. Both of our bikes had been hanging in the garage for about 15 years when I decided to dust them off and give them to Goodwill. I live local and have been driving past Bike Land for years. I decided to drop in during the week when it would be slow. An Asian man, possibly the one mentioned above, greeted me. I told him I needed bike for casual riding on city streets and also for fire-break roads in the hills. He immediately steered me to two bicycles and briefly described them. He told me to feel free to sit on it and ride it if I wanted to. He then left to help out another customer and then came back to me and told me if I had any questions he would be in the back. I liked that I was not being rushed or pressured to buy. After evaluating the bikes I made my choice and I also told him I wanted to purchase a 2nd bike for my wife. Since I was buying two bikes I asked what he could do to sweeten the deal and he then offered free front and rear lighting for both bikes. Jay takes really good care of his customers. I just bought my first entry-level mountain bike from him last Friday. Way better than my Walmart special. The price was fair and he threw in a few free goodies with it. What I liked most about Jay is that he took the time to go over the different types of bikes and helped gauge what type would suit me. He could of tried to sell me an over the top full suspension bike instead he showed me the entry level hardtail. If you buy a bike new from them you get 10% of future purchases of gear and accessories. It's good to see a local small store still hanging in there. read more
