A casual spot for a variety of vegetarian friendly Indian food in the suburbs of Columbus. Located in a busy area of strip centers, you'll find this place close to Trader Joe's. Free parking right by the entrance. Once inside you can head to the front to place an order and pay. They provide a medallion that lights up when your order is ready. Proceed to the pick up counter to get your meal and seat yourself. Mostly self service style dining. Staff were friendly. The food was okay. Very spicy and all kinda tasted the same after a while. Portion sizes were smaller than expected so we had to order more. Be sure to ask for a side of yogurt if you can't handle spice. Tried the Chole Bature. It comes with the option of one or two puri. Opted for one because traditionally one puri is huge. In this case one felt like it wasn't enough and the Chole (chickpeas) was a small portion. The Raj Katchori was decent but needed more chutney. Pav bhaji very spicy and small portion for price. I thought they had sugarcane juice in the fridge, but it was jal jeera. Chai was basic. Finally, Bikanervala is in Chicago suburbs-Schaumburg!!! Food quality is good but I won't recommend coming later than 8pm on the weekends. You might have to wait for more than an hour. They have a sweet section seperately. The ambience is very welcoming!! read more

Feeling fortunate for a trip down memory lane from my childhood! We drove 2.5 hrs from NKY to this location and every mile was worth the drive. If there is ONE thing you eat here, it's the Chole Bhature. Nothing beats Bikarnerwala bhature. We also had stuffed kulcha, kaali daal, some chaat items, badam milk and a few sweets. We also brought back home some samosas and a couple of boxes of sweets. So so happy with this place. We went for a hike in downtown Dublin after the food high we got. Billed as "The Kingdom of Indian Snacks and Sweets," Bikanervala more than delivers on that delicious promise. From its pretty pastel backlit mural all down one side of the cafe, to its incredible and colorful dessert and sweets bar at the front, this darling Indian cafe is a feast for all of the senses. Bestie and I wore our prettiest Indian dresses to dine on snacks, sweets and a Deluxe Thali feast. We left so full and oh so happy! Everything was perfection - standouts were the pani puri sooji and dahi puri appies. Also everything on the thali sampler platter. Also every sweet we tried! When I heard the name Bikanervala it gave the vibe of food from home. The location is cozy and gives a very amazing vibe. But when it comes to food I was disappointed. It did not taste like home. It was flavorless. I had really high expectations especially for Ghewar as I was craving it but it was not even close. Service was speedy and good. Once again, the ordering seems confusing. There is a menu and a price, but it seems to fluctuate even during a conversation. Believe me, I visit a lot of Indian restaurants, so I am not foreign to the menu or the ingredients in the food. The portions were little compared to the price, The service left a lot to be desired. There was a clear distinction of the service provided to brown customers versus white customers. You may take it for what it is worth, but I am just stating what I noticed, no BS here! New restaurant with really good and yummy food. It is little chaotic and very busy. Items on the menu h are missing and some of the staff is extremely professional and helpful. Missing items were bhel poori and mango lassi. These are the two most common items. Decoration on walls are wonderful. read more

I strongly recommend AGAINST Bikanervala. When we first walked in, it was open and spacious. Somebody walked up to us and gave us a menu with a bunch of check marks and x's next to items telling us what is available and not available. However, when we went to order, there was nothing but 7 items available. Every time we tried to order something, they said it was not available. We even said the entire menus has check marks and x's and she said she understands but since they just opened they don't have all of their menu items available. Doesn't make sense to have a full menu and then not have anything available but curry's, chaat, and "naan" (paper thin naan). When we ordered poori, we asked for just 1 and she said it has to be 2. We asked why it can't be a single piece and she said that's just the way it was. It was as if we were negotiating. Some pretty awful customer service. I ordered a fresh lime soda and I got some masala juice. We asked for 3 water bottles and she said 2 of them are complimentary but we only got 1. We asked for to-go boxes and they gave us the smallest square boxes where we had to rip the already small pieces of "naan" to put in.The food was barely average. The paneer was spicy, but ok. The daal was odd flavored, but good. Also, another customer next to us had a small dispute about not getting what she ordered and then the employees kept arguing back with her. Bikanerwala was a huge disappointment for me. With great expectations and an appetite for Indian snacks, I dared through the dicey parking outside Trader Joe's and finally made it inside. We ordered Samosa Chat, Kachoris, a Thali, a few sweets and a couple of other sampling items. First the whole line for ordering is a bit weird (I attribute that to the initial surge). The quality of each of the items left a lot to be desired - the samosa chaat with black Chana was not really edible nor was it appetizing. The Thali was a bad mistake as the curries were not fresh. Ras gulla was good but Gulab Jamoon was hard. All in all, I would go to Neehees any day of the week. Bikanerwala has a lot to improve. This is the first time I have been here with my wife. We were so excited to try it considering the Bikanerwala brand! However, the whole experience turned out to be such a damp squib. We ordered for Samosa Chaat. While ordering, we specifically asked the lady at the counter if it had one or two samosas. She said two. However, we got our order with only one samosa. Also the chat was very spicy and it came with Kala Chana. It had no yogurt topping. It was so spicy (peppery) that we could hardly eat it and kept gulping water to wash it down. When I could no longer handle it, I went back to the counter and asked the main guy about the missing yogurt. He said it never comes with yogurt. The picture on the menu board clearly had yogurt in it. He said there are two types of Samosa Chaats, one with Aloo Tikki and the other one with Kala Chana. This wasn't told to us. Regardless, a Samosa chat always comes with yogurt. So, the picture shows you something and you are served something else. A classic "Oonchi dukan, pheeka (in our case teekha) pakwan! A Rapid Downhill Slide - Disappointed and Concerned for the Brand What a letdown. Within just a month of opening, this location has gone from promising to poorly managed and careless. Several items listed on the menu were not available. What we did receive was flash-fried, low-effort food -- soggy fries, and a so-called "rice bowl" that was just a thin layer of stale jeera rice topped with a peel of lemon, with no lemon inside. When asked, the response? "Per franchise instructions." That's unacceptable. The once warm, welcoming environment has now turned into one marked by arrogance and indifference. The kind older lady at the counter, who once represented grace and hospitality, is now overshadowed by aggressive, inattentive staff more focused on chasing 5-star Google reviews than food quality. This is a sad reflection for Bikanerwala. As someone from Ohio who has enjoyed the brand in New Jersey, this location is doing a disservice to the name. If the franchise continues on this path -- ignoring food quality, cutting corners, and treating customers with apathy -- it won't just fail, it will actively damage the reputation of a beloved brand. Like a bar, they have two bouncers at the front door who make up rules as they go. They split families into groups of two or four people before allowing you inside, which makes no sense. Expect about a 40-minute wait outside, followed by another 30 minutes of waiting once you're finally let in. The food is cold and served randomly one item at a time over the next hour, with no rhyme or reason. I finished my food and my wife never got hers. Finally upon, querying, they found her dish brought it to the table. Overall, it's a very poor dining experience. This place is not worth your time, money, or effort. The atmosphere feels like a fast food joint--except it's the slowest one on earth when it comes to serving customers. read more
