Amul India Restaurant is located on Sawmill road a major thoroughfare in Dublin, Ohio. Amul is the Sanskrit word for "Amulya" which translates in English to priceless or precious. Their curry is precious. Upon entering I noticed that I was the only one dining at the time. This happens to me often since I eat dinner at 3 pm most of the time. The restaurant is a bit upscale with a full bar, linens and booth as well as table settings. The menu is extensive and it took me awhile to decided which dish I wanted. Once I decided the chef came out and asked me what spice level. The spice levels range from 1-6 and i went with a 4. I decided on the Kadahi mahi curry $17.99, a dish consisting of shrimp and several different types of fish all served with basmati rice which was served separately. While waiting for my meal, I ordered the garlic naan. The garlic naan was super good as was the Kadahi mahi curry and the flavorful basmati rice. I will return.

Not bad but not the best Indian food option in the area. The chicken was a little dry, all the curries very very oily, and the flavor of everything was just...a little off. When I used to live in Columbus, I would frequent the North Market in the Short North almost…read moreweekly. I visited for the first time in many years and found that most vendors have changed over the years. One familiar vendor is Flavors of India at the North Market. I had a delightful experience ordering some chicken curry along with some naan. I arrived and looked around at the options. There was a small wait for a Tuesday lunch, and I asked a many questions about the dishes. While there were meat or vegetarian entrees with rice or multiple sides, I chose to stick with the small chicken dish (8 oz) with a side of garlic naan. I figured that would complement another dish I tried from another vendor. The chicken curry dish was tasty and delicious as was the garlic naan (which certainly beat out any regular naan). The prices, however, were quite high. I enjoyed the food and would come back for other dishes or even an entree with sides in the future. Flavors of India was established in 1991 as one of the oldest merchants at the North Market. It is a family business that serves home-style Northern Indian cuisine made with freshly sourced ingredients each morning. They incorporate healthy herbs and spices (turmeric, coriander, ginger, and garlic) in each dish offering truly authentic flavors of India. There are also Vegan and Gluten-Free options available. The location is on the west side of the North Market along the wall. The hours at the North Market are Monday from 9 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday through Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM, Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday from 12 to 5 PM. I would assume that later during the lunch hour during the weekends (and weekdays) it is probably quite busy. You can find a bit more information on the North Market website detailing the Flavors of India restaurant: https://northmarket.org/merchant/flavors-of-india. I certainly would come back to eat there again!

First and foremost - it's ALL RICE. 1/2 your order is rice. 1/4 of your order is sauce with MAYBE some meat in it. The naan is quite possibly the worst naan I have had. It tasted like it was freezer burned, and it was clearly bought. Like, I'm trying not to be an asshole about it, but the reviews rating it 3 stars and saying "it's good"? No. It's insulting to how much BETTER Indian food can be! It is so disappointing!

First of all, I ordered their goat biryani... but they were apparently out of goat in general and substituted chicken biryani without asking me first. The chicken biryani was 2 skinny chicken drumsticks with a pile of poorly mixed rice on top. It was way less meat than I've gotten from other Indian restaurants in the area at a similar price point. Literally a 1/3 of the rice was still white, which is why I say it was poorly mixed. The rest of the seasoned rice was overly salty. I also ordered their samosas which came with mint chutney. The chutney was once again waaaaay too salty. As in, saltier than eating tomato ketchup straight of the bottle. We also ordered their chicken tikka masala which was also too salty. With all the other good Indian restaurants in the area, I unfortunately don't see a reason to come back.
