Tried their buffet and was honestly impressed. A good spread covering both North and South Indian dishes. That included tandoori chicken, paneer, biryani, dosa, chaat, and much more. Flavors were solid, not overly spicy or oily. I absolutely loved their assortment of the desserts like mango ice cream and ladoo were a nice finish. The naan was soft, curries had depth, and they were refilling fresh. The Dosa counter was a good touch too, with freshlymade Dosas. My brother and I have always lived far apart as adults, so we send each other feasts on our birthdays. This year's from Awadh was one of my favorites! My bro got me two naan breads, chicken tikka masala, dry chili chicken, Kung pao potatoes, crispy 65 paneer and two desserts. It was amazing! I am not sure why it took me this long to review this place. I have attended birthday parties, catered food for parties, dinned in and came for buffet and did take outs. Did it all and the food nor the customer service ever failed. If you like Indian food then this place is a must!! If you are hesitant about Indian food and don't know what to order, then I recommend you come for the buffet. They have so many different dishes to try, from veg to non-veg items and desserts. I have tried many dishes from here but few of my favorites are the Samosa Chaat, Mutter Pulao and chicken korma. I don't even like chicken korma, but I look forward to their chicken korma. I have now dined at this location several times and under different circumstances - for sit-down dining, a birthday buffet, and a catered birthday party that we hosted. On all of these occasions, Awadh delivered above and beyond quality of food and service. When we last dined in, we ordered a bunch of different dishes - the Mutter Pulao, the Butter Naan, the Chicken Korma, the Vegetable Jalfrezi, the Chicken Hakka Noodles, the Samosa Chaat, and the Mango Lassi. All the dishes were flavorful and just the right level of heat. The portions were also generous. When we visited for a birthday party where the guests had access to the restaurant's buffet, we were very impressed with the variety of food options. The staff worked extra hard to ensure all the chaffers were refilled as soon as they were empty. Based on our two experiences above, we hired Awadh to cater for my daughter's birthday party. Archana worked with me on the menu based on our preferences. She was very mindful of our needs and constraints, and her recommendations were a hit with our guests. On the day of the event, the staff from Awadh showed up several minutes ahead of time and went about setting up the food. They worked tirelessly for the next several hours, and we received a lot of compliments from our guests about the quality of service they received from Awadh's staff. After reading positive reviews we gave it a try. We only tried veg dishes so cannot comment on non veg. Not very busy restaurant on Saturday evening but one side had some party. Perhaps focus was on the other side. Didn't feel much welcomed by a senior staff member. Our server was very friendly. Ordered a starter plate and they brought non veg which was corrected immediately. Starters were ok. Name of some dishes were little confusing. Bhindi dish had more onions and hardly any pieces of Bhindi. Dessert menu had items missing which made kids upset. Naan were dry so didn't even got them packed. I ordered take out. The online menus were a little difficult to navigate. For example, on one menu I saw Kolkatta chili chicken and another one did not have it listed at all. Also, one menu you can adjust the spice level; however, on another there was no option to. It does not say, but each dish came with white rice. My food was ready to go on time on a Friday night. The restaurant was not busy around 8pm. Everything was packed nicely, double packed actually (first in paper bag and then in plastic), which really helped since the dishes had curry gravy. I ordered from the desi and indoChinese sections. My two favorites of the night were the honey chili eggplant and the goat awadh curry. The honey chili eggplant had no gravy, but it was perfect like that. They really did a great job frying the small pieces and then seasoning them. The goat did not have a smell and the curry sauce was delicious. I aslo enjoyed the chili chicken. This will be my go to place for IndoChinese from now on. I must say though that the prices here are higher than the average Indian restaurant. I don't mind the prices, since there was quality in the food; however, I thought the price of the naan was way too much. It was $6 for garlic naan. Other places usually charge $2 for butter naan and $3 for garlic naan. Overall, the food was great. I wish I got pictures, but we were hungry since we had a late dinner. The original, smaller location - Bethel Road in Carriage Place Shopping Center - is still wonderful + fantastic, and it's getting busier. Now there's a larger and even nicer Powell location. It's awesome and worth the drive - big, beautiful dining rooms with vaulted ceilings, plenty of parking, a lovely restaurant. Powell offers lunch buffet Friday, Saturday + Sunday 11:30am - 3:00pm. At $20/person, it's worth every penny. There was a large variety of dishes, very impressive - and dosas made-to-order fresh by the chef. (I admit, the dosa - with all of its ghee-buttery goodness, was my favorite dish among many favorite dishes...). Chef Anand Kumar is an exceptional chef. He and his wife Archana are both incredibly nice, and together they've created 2 wonderful, welcoming restaurants serving exceptional Indian food in lovely restaurants with very attentive service. I just wish they had more chicken based curries but they only had chicken tikka masala at the time and the rest were fried or grilled. Heard about the new Indian restaurant in Powell and was excited to try it. We ordered carry out for a group of 6 of us. Overall the food was good. We ordered most of the dishes at a medium spice level which really was not that spicy. The food was tasty though a couple of the dishes were a bit sweet for my liking. The Malai kofta in general is sweet but I didn't expect it with the channa masala and the chicken tikka masala. The portion sizes are fairly small for the price paid for entrees. The chicken 65 was very good, good spice and cooked well. The paneer chili had a batter that was too thick and dried out too much by the time we ate. I would give this place a 3.5 We likely will be back but was hoping for a little more taste and portion sizes for the price paid. read more

Great ambiance and service. Our servers were very nice and the managers took our suggestions very gratefully as well. We ordered the following: Masala Nimbu Paani / Lemonade Pan Fried Spicy Mushrooms Hara Bhara Seekh Kebab Achari Paneer Tikka Malai Kofta Kadai Paneer Gulaab Jamun Roomali Roti (not pictured) I loved the masala nimbu pani, the masala was the right amount! The pan fried mushrooms, tho crispy, was not really spicy, it had a sweeter take to it. The kebabs were amazing, not too dry, just the right amount of moist. The paneer tikka could have been cooked a bit more, but it tasted great otherwise. I wasn't the greatest fan of kadai paneer. I think it tasted great, but it tasted more like tawa paneer to me than kadai paneer. The koftas are vegetable koftas, and the gravy was delicious! I LOVE roomali rotis, and I usually don't order it in the U.S. but decided to give it a shot. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. I'd get naan or tandoori roti next time though. Ask to be seated at a table that is not blocking the walkway and the waiter (or manager) shows an attitude that is beyond my comprehension. After my fiancee and I had a special engagement ceremony, we had rented space here to celebrate with our friends and family. Awadh is run by Chef Anand and is located off Sawmill Road. The lunch buffet was excellent. For vegetarians, there were plenty of options. I myself had chole bhatura, shahi paneer, vegetable fried rice, and some Indo-Chinese options. There is also complementary chai. We didn't rely on service too much given the buffet set up, but I really liked the space. It had wooden flooring, high ceilings, booths, and was warm. I think it was probably like an old steakhouse at one point. I would definitely come back here for either lunch or dinner. Being fans of the original location on Bethel, we stopped on by after reading on Columbus Monthly that Awadh was expanding to a new Powell location. One difference of note with the original is that they open for lunch at 11:30am-3pm, and reopen for dinner at 5pm. Our server was attentive and helpful, the interior and atmosphere of the restaurant was more refined and higher class than that of the original in Carriage Place. We started with the Crispy 65 Sauce Cauliflower which was deep fried and coated with a sour, spicy sauce and complementary papadam, both of which were very good. For mains we ordered our typical staples at the Medium spice level: the Jumbo Shrimp Mehrunissa (their variant of tandoori shrimp) and the Navrattan Korma (our favorite vegetarian curry dish) with a side of the Garlic Naan. Everything was served promptly, the fare being reminiscent of the original location, maintaining the its high standards. Of note was the Garlic Naan which was among the best we've had and was loaded with fresh garlic and not overcooked or burnt as we've experienced in similar restaurants in Columbus. We are only knocking a star because the shrimp was a tad too salty for our taste and compared to the original location's version, was served relatively simply, without the hot plate and accompanying grilled vegetables which knocked the value down a tad. On that note the prices are a bit on the higher end of things (our bill totaling around 60-70 dollars), but that's no big surprise given the improved atmosphere and today's general increase in prices due to inflation. Overall we are happy to see a closer-to-home location for Awadh and look forwards to coming back and trying their Lunch buffet during the weekends. read more

I got this order via DoorDash so no comment on service or ambiance (the food prep and delivery were very timely!), and the food was really good, but why I gave this the highest rating is for the mere fact that they have Onion Bahji on the menu! This is a rarity in this town, so I happily ordered it along with Lamb Butter Curry and garlic Naan. The bahji was good, the garlic Naan was very flavourful (more than most places) and the butter curry? Well, I like spicy foods but hadn't had any in awhile; I ordered it "Hot" and decided to not go with "Very Hot", this being my first experience... WHOO DADDY! In fact I am whatcha might call a foodie. I love New York City. If I had not been such a dunderhead and abused the people of the plains, I would have moved to the Big Apple. That said, I highly recommend Chef Anand and his fine restaurant. I would love to take Mill Libby there. Its beautiful setting, absolutely spotless, the food is delicious, interesting, healthy and visually appealing. I was torn between eating what was on my plate or just sitting there admiring its beauty. I have been to every fancy restaurant in New York City, but nothin there comes close to this. Pilgrim here is some advice to take. If you got a gal you are courting and want to make some headway, take her to Awadh by Chef Anand. She will be impressed, flattered and likely will swoon. I used DoorDash to get the food. We were looking forward to going out to eat, but we never made it in person so the review is for delivered food. The food tasted fresh. The ingredients were tasty, good, spicing, use, quality ingredients, such as the vegetables in the chicken. The Samosa was delicious. The outside pastry shell was a little crispy and a little chewy the way it should be. It wasn't dripping with oil or sake, and the ingredient inside were wonderfully spiced. This is my new favorite Indian restaurant in central Ohio. I used to love the Thai restaurant in this location, and was sad to see it go. Now that Awadh has opened, I'm glad the Thai restaurant is gone (its sister restaurant in Dublin is still open, and we still love it.) Awadh still has the same inviting ambiance that the Thai restaurant had...warm, open, and inviting. Anyway, more about Awadh. Their flavors are spectacular. The mattar paneer is delicious, and has a wonderful fresh pea flavor that most don't seem to have. The chicken tikka masala was fresh and flavorful, and the sauce was homemade. In most Indian restaurants, it's obvious that they used a premade sauce from a jar. Not Awadh. And the chicken was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. The raita was exactly the right consistency (many are too watery) and had a wonderful flavor...not just yogurt and salt, it had black pepper, cilantro, and other flavors. The chef stopped by our table and chatted with us, and I happened to ask if they served onion chutney (rare to find in Columbus, but common in other areas). He said they don't...but then he went and MADE some for me. I was stunned. It's telling that almost the entire clientele was Indian when we went there on a Friday night.
