Well I would have love to give this place more than one star how ever I sat at the bar and someone give me and my date a menu and never returned. Several employees made eye contact with us and we sat there at an empty bar top for almost 15 minutes. Place was not busy and definitely was not under staffed either. Interesting, lively Venezuelan restaurant here in Near Southside. It's a large space with lots of room for larger parties. Our servers were helpful with trying to explain the menu. "Roast meat" is more like steak. Hubby is a carnivore and enjoyed the selection of meats available as "extras" so he was able to make his own dish with pork chops and chichharrones. I had the tostones appetizer with a delicious pink sauce and strips of perfectly grilled picaña beef (like at Brazilian Steakhouses) topped with chimmichurri sauce. I added their fried cheese which may have been my favorite bite. Great for large groups or just a regular old date. If you can't understand the menu, look at pics online and ask the server what it is. I've not had a bad bite here. read more

Safe to say I'm still dreaming about their carne mechada arepa, seriously 10/10!! Everything we tried here was delicious including the drinks. Love that we have this restaurant in the Fort Worth food scene now. The restaurant looks super spacious, clean, and laidback which was awesome. Unfortunately, I will have to agree with the other reviews regarding the service. While we were seated and helped quickly, the service was very slow. We were there on a Sunday night and only a handful of tables were full and while it looked like they were fully staffed, it still took a long time for us to get our check, etc. I would still recommend this place especially for the food, the food did not disappoint! read more

When we accidentally got steak and shrimp instead of steak and chicken, I was so happy to see that this restaurant allowed remakes for the order instead of just refunding. We weren't able to eat the meat from the original order due to shrimp allergy but it was beyond worth the wait for the replacement for the steak and chicken. I'm absolutely blown away by the amount of care put into every ingredient and sauce . This is 100% my husband and i's new favorite place and we're going to recommend it to everyone we know. read more

We really enjoyed the Venezuelan food at Big Yummy Grill. We had the Cachapa with cheese as an appetizer ...sweet corn pancake with out of the ordinary cheese and sauce. The other highlight was the special arepas with steak. The beef was very tasty! Very attractive interior and outdoor area would be nice in cooler weather. Ample parking. Service was very disappointing. Waitress did not speak English and wasn't interested in making any attempt to understand. My restaurant Spanish has been fine in Fort Worth, Mexico and Spain, but apparently even my pronunciation of "margarita" was unintelligible to waitress. I'm really torn writing this review. The concept, the decor, vibe; it's all there. The food was delicious too. The service needs a lot of fine-tuning.... To preface this, I don't speak Spanish. But I love Venezuelan food. But not knowing Spanish led to some issues understanding the menu and communicating with the staff. None of that affects my experience. You can't get authentic food without getting this kind of experience.... My issue was that I sat at the bar so I could quickly get in and out, as I was eating by myself. All I wanted to do was get my Arepa and empanada fix then head out. I saw this place on yelp and wanted to provide pictures to help get their reviews up. And another bartender at a local spot recommended this restaurant. It took 15 minutes after sitting at the bar and I finally had to go ask the hostess if I can get help. People kept looking at me, but would not approach. I was unbelievably frustrated as the restaurant was pretty much empty and many servers were looking at their phones just ignoring me. After I did eat, I paid with my phone using the QR code on the receipt. At some point between leaving my seat, walking to the bathroom, then walking to my car there was a misunderstanding that I didn't pay for my check. The hostess came out to my car asking for payment. Explained to her I have it on my credit card showing the charge. She then realized they made a mistake and let me go. It was just so awkward for both her and I. I eat here again 100x, but I would just do a pick up order. Unfortunate with the vibe being so cool. Hope to see the operations improve. The menu font looked strange like their printer messed up. Very difficult to read. Which I know must be frustrating because the material the menus are printed on is of high quality. read more

The menu has some items that seem to be mistranslated into english, for example, Roast Beef we found out actually meant Carne Asada! I can only hope they do a better job with the menu...it's too much/big and it's not English, which is ok, but there is no description of what it is. The print is tiny and blurred. The language barrier makes it difficult to know what you are getting. Put a description of what it is on the menu please. Example. Russian salad equals potato salad, what do you call a potato cake/paddy. We should not be asking or not knowing what food is on a menu. Very similar problem to Indian restaurant menus. This place is a five star restaurant if they didn't have the menu/language confusion (lack of food description) I know people that want to try this restaurant out, but don't go after looking at the menu online. I am very surprised about the explanations that the owners had given to some complaints about the food, drinks and service that was given on a celebration last Saturday January 18th, 2024. Myself I saw the owners vaping and having a good time while the staff was working like crazy to try their best to serve people. Lot of mistakes and not surprises. They new what was coming but did not care. They just asked the staff to handle it and survive. Terrible service. Terrible food. Not to mention the drinks. It is really sad that they did not care.
