AVOID THIS PLACE. Go somewhere that makes you feel valued. That wants to help you with a purchase. That wants to help answer questions you may have. Very bad experience. Very poor service. Myself, my wife and my daughter went to visit today because we need to purchase some trees for our backyard. We parked and started to browse around and my wife saw a tree and loved it. So I went up to the office with my daughter. After asking if we needed help, I let them know we had some questions on one of the trees outside. With a very condescending attitude the lady at the counter said "Which one is it..." I let her know that I didn't know the kind, I just knew which area and asked if there was someone that could come down to help us. She said, "Well, just tell me the kind of tree and I can tell you more information." I again asked if someone could just help us outside. It's like we were an inconvenience to her and her busyness on the computer. She very reluctantly came outside with us. After getting to the tree, she said "Well, this ones sold." I asked if there were others and with a sharp NO, I asked her if she knew where we could get one, and she said "Well, you can go to Oregon." My wife just said, "Let's go." I understand that the owner is Nancy, well, she should really take a look at how she hires for customer service positions. I don't know if the lady was having a bad day. But we are just customers who have no experience buying big trees. They should be more polite and willing to answer questions without telling us to go to Oregon to buy a tree. With all of the options out there, why would I spend money with a company like this. read more

We purchased a huge tree and paid for the installation of that tree. It was a good price for the tree and what was most exceptional about our purchase was the installation. A three man team came out with heavy equipment and dug a huge hole and planted this tree. What was exceptional was the finish or polish of the project. We had to remove a number of small plants to fit this tree into our garden. These courteous gentlemen replanted a couple of these plants in new areas and took the extra time to clean and rake the area of the installation. There was no indication that heavy equipment had ever been in the garden area and they left the area in better condition that what it was found in. It seems like a small thing that does not take long, but it is truly the finish or polish on the final work project the distinguishes the professionals from the hacks. I will recommend Big Trees every chance I get. read more

This is one of (or maybe the only) retail place to buy mature trees and shrubs, and they usually have a good variety. Prices can be reasonable or outrageous, depending on the species. The sales woman who walks the lot with customers is friendly and helpful, but the office staff are consistently gruff or outright rude. My main complaint is with their delivery and installation, which comes with 1-year insurance on the plant. We have purchased from them twice - once just with delivery which went very nicely, then once with installation. The installers who came barely spoke english and didn't follow directions on where to put the tree (meant for privacy, so the precise spot was important). They whipped it in the ground several feet from the spot I had marked and left before I realized it. The Big Trees manager said they could come back to move it for $185/h! They charge an additional 75% of the sales price for the installation + insurance, but unless the tree is completely dead within a year, they won't replace it. In writing, installation is supposed to come with consultation, planting, and a visit afterwards as needed. The guys who installed couldn't answer questions about the soil, watering, or anything, and their arborist wouldn't come out afterwards, instead rudely answered questions over the phone only. It's not worth the cost. Also be warned - don't purchase a plant then leave it on the lot long. Though they offer to hold, they stop caring for the plant. There had been a huge camellia someone had bought for over $500 and left in the ground there that Big Trees stopped watering through a hot summer. The camellia looked nearly dead. read more

I had heard of these guys off and on over the years. I love their name "Big Trees" cause that is what they do! A few weeks ago they planted a 24' tall Western Red Cedar in our back yard. This was logistically challenging , crossing two golf course fairways to get there. The installation was careful placed and looks wonderful. You pay 300.00 or so for a tree and its full of disease . You ask for help in trying to treat your tree . They ask for pictures - type of spray and spray dates . So if you get a tree from these unprofessional a-s make sure you. Keep records and dont expect any help because its not about customer satisfaction its about money and no help for a customer . I bought a sugar maple from Big Trees 7 years ago, which went well. However, it's now dying from verticillium wilt, almost certainly because it was diseased when it was delivered. I can't replace it with a new healthy maple tree either because the fungus is now in our soil, so I think I'll plant a conifer there next. I wish I hadn't been so impatient to have a big tree. read more

The real test of customer service is when things do not go as planned, especially after the service is complete and paid for. Big Trees in Snohomish certainly comes through. We had a White Birch planted about 18 months ago which recently started to show some signs of decay. Jake, one of their Arborists, came out to inspect and unfortunately the young birch succumbed to the birch borer. Even though we were outside the warranty period, there was never any issue of working with Nancy or Jake to come to a satisfactory resolution. The entire process was painless, and I would be happy to work with them anytime. It's somewhat rare these days to find a company that truly stands behind it's work and recommendations, and I am certainly glad we had used them to plant our trees. The dogwoods that were part of the original planting have done fantastic. read more

I contracted with Big Trees to dig up and move three large trees from my current house to a jobsite where I am building a new home. I found them pleasant to work with and they were professional and completed the job as advertised. Several of the trees were quite large, including a weeping purple beech 35' high. I can see where their expertise was critical and most people probably don't even consider that moving such large trees is even possible. read more

I had a very small area that I needed tall trees, they assured me these would fit and they did. The trees are beautiful and still healthy and my yard looks so much better. We initially worked with Jenn who was very knowledgeable and able to help guide us to find the right tree for our specific situation (we had a previous tree quickly die of a fungal infection, so we needed a tree that was resistant to that type of fungus). Nancy (the owner) contacted us to go over what to expect the day the tree was planted. Her crew was on time and were hard workers, it was obvious they've planted many trees! We actually did have a small issue with the way the tree was planted - which leads me to my favorite thing about this company: they are super responsive and have wonderful customer service! You can tell they really want you to be happy with your tree. Jake (the arborist) ended up coming to our house in Seattle to look at our issue and make recommendations. I love how you can walk the property and view the identifying tags on each tree. It was a pleasure doing business with Nancy the owner, who answered my many questions and Todd who wrote up my order. I chose two 10' pines. They coordinate with you on contacting "callbeforeyoudig". When the time came, the delivery crew were prompt, tidy, and fast. We had two large cherry trees planted by them, scheduling the planting was very convenient and the on site crew was punctual every time. Our neighbors just built a huge house with a 30 foot tall garage next to our back yard fence. Our back yard, garden, fire pit, hot tub and play area were totally exposed to their windows and extensive outdoor lighting. Big Trees planted eight 17 foot Leyland Cyprus trees and totally blocked the view and the light. We gained so much more privacy and sense of safety, and the trees were much fuller than I expected. I feel like I got my backyard back. Staff at the office were great to work with and the installers were courteous and competent.
