We had an order to be picked up by 3:15 on Friday afternoon for 75 people. When I arrived ,the order was almost complete and was soon put into 4 large containers. I had to grab a pretzel roll on the way out! lol. Yummy! Important to note: we had enough food for 125 people so order less. The owners/ employees were gracious and speedy. All necessary condiments and sandwich fixings were included and ample. We did not order enough tuna and chicken salad sandwiches-40? Went quickly. We had enough to give away 2 trays and pack lunch for the next day. The food was great- the bread so soft and fresh. Thanks so much for great service!! read more

Love this bakery. Been going to Big Sky for 15+ years. Everyone is super friendly when you go in and they greet you with a smile and willingness to help. I adore their breads, poppyseed almond muffin, their cinnamon rolls, and pretzel rolls. They used to do pepperoni knots. Kinda miss those. Their lunch is also great. Soups, mac and cheese, and sandwiches all good and made with Boars Head products. I've sat inside and outside. I've never been to their bathrooms to evaluate them. This is a Kettering Gem! Family owned and they take pride in their community. Their bread is amazing. We don't buy from the grocery store anymore. We also come here for holiday treats. This place was amazing! I had a turkey sandwich, mac & cheese. They were out of rolls and gave me sour dough bread slices in exchange. I will definitely be returning. As far as service, I might have come right at a hectic time. In fact, one guy left his credit card in the machine and the staff had to chase him down to return it. They were very nice, and as prompt as good be with the lunch time rush. If you are in the Dayton area, and want to try something new and fresh, check this place out. read more

I've been coming to Big Sky Company for years. This place is terrific. The owners are always very welcoming, and the bread is amazing! I haven't been in a few years, and I had to pass yesterday with my kids so I decided to stop in, they had closed for the evening, but were still nice enough to let us come in to purchase bread and cupcakes. Excellent service, very limited seating in shop. Had bacon quiche and it was excellent. Also got some pepperoni pretzels for a gathering i was having the next day and they were the hit of the party after heating them at 350 degrees for 8 minutes as directed. I've been coming to BSBC for 16 years now. Every single time, I have a 5 star experience. The bread is EXCEPTIONAL - fresh & delicious as can be every single time. I had the chicken salad sandwich on Italian peasant with a side of broccoli cheddar soup & WOW. The bread melts in your mouth. I also have a weakness for the pizza bread, blueberry bread, cinnamon coffee cakes and holy cow, the pretzel bread!!! Absolutely recommend trying them all. The owner Mari always welcomes us and is genuinely interested to hear about our lives since our last visit. A very friendly neighborhood bakery. 10/10 would recommend to anyone - locals or out-of-towners. You gotta go! read more

The place wasn't what I expected but still was worth it. There are a few small high top tables surrounding the order counter and they were filled at the time we arrived on a Saturday morning around 9:30. There was a line to order which took awhile as many were ordering hot breakfast items which I found unusual for a bread company. I couldn't find a well defined breakfast menu on the wall that would explain so many orders. I selected a load of wheat bread to purchase and some muffins that looked good on display. All were very good. On going to pay I was offered a choice of breads to sample. I choose a slice of foccia which I ate after leaving. It was superb and I immediately regretted not making that my choice. I'd be back just for that. read more

A fitting name for a bread company. Their breads are soft and fluffy like the clouds in the sky. I've had their cinnamon bread, wheat bread, pretzel rolls, and their garlic cheddar bread. The cinnamon bread was great! So much better than Cinnabon. The first part of the roll is perfect. Not too sweet, and super soft. As you get further to the end, the cinnamon only increases. Their pretzel rolls are perfect if you like salted pretzels. They are similar in saltiness. Out of all the baked goods I've tried from Big Sky, the pretzel rolls were the only ones that didn't hold up well after a couple of days. Maybe it was the salt on the bread? Who knows. But by the second day the breads were soggy on the outside. On to their garlic cheddar bread. This bread is the best choice out of the four I've tried. So good. I come in often, for lunch or breakfast. Breakfast I get the bacon cheese quiche and a large cup of Highlander Grogg coffee. Adding the free slice of cranberry bread, you will be set. For lunch I have a whole sandwich with ham and turkey on peasant bread, with only tomato, mayo, and spicy mustard. Then I add a drink and get a free slice of pizza bread to cap it all off. They give out a lot of free samples, but if you check the price of the bread there, it really isn't free. They recover the cost of the samples in the high price of the bread. Gotten stale stuff from there, too. Kind of adds insult to injury to get overcharged and then, get something stale. There's no shortage of places to get artisan style breads. They keep banker's hours, too. My thoughts are go someplace more reasonably priced with more accomodating hours. read more

Yeah! A 5 star that keeps on giving 5s. This place has become a staple for us. The bread here is delicious! So many kinds to choose from. The Challah bread is probably the best I have ever had. Their honey wheat bread makes incredible sandwiches. Big Sky offers free slices of bread as samples and when you purchase soups, sandwiches or just pastry items. I highly recommend this place. Love their bread but the spinach quiche was a huge disappointment. It was more like a cheese pie. My coworker and I were both unable to finish ours and we both love cheese! Very little egg or maybe the cheese weighed the whole thing down. It was very greasy because of this. I will continue going for the bread which always gets 5 stars! read more

We have lived in the area, right down the street, for just over a year but had not patronized this establishment...and we are sorry. My wife and kids raved about this place after eating a couple lunches here, but I was skeptical. Man, this place is good. Breads are delicious, serving sizes are larger than expected, and the price is many times more than reasonable (than other chain "bread and sandwich" places). I discovered Big Sky Bread Company at their weekly stand at the Second Street Market in downtown Dayton, where I sampled a number of their breads. I ended up purchasing a whole loaf of their Cinnamon Pecan bread...and then found myself nearly finishing the entire loaf by myself by the very next day. It's absolutely delicious and addicting (especially if you warm up a slice in the microwave for a little bit). On top of that, this particular loaf is made with whole wheat flour, so it's even *somewhat* good for you (at least that's what I keep telling myself). :) read more

Mary & Phil have turned this humble bakery into a superstar in this part of town, and have been here for many years. We've watched their kids grow up through the occassional photos posted near the counter and they give back generously to the community. (I almost hate to give such a glowing review, but they deserve your patronage!) Now the bread - baked fresh every morning. Baked with fresh ingredients - no added corn syrup here. I won't mention my favorites but once you buy this bread, you will not buy any mystery (aka "I Wonder what's in this") bread anywhere else. They have cookies and Challah and sweetbreads...My only hope for Big Sky is that it remains open for a long time. And lunch is delicious. The soups and quiches are outstanding. Be patient if you go at lunchtime, this is a family operation, your fellow neighbors and Daytonians at work! If its busy the first time, keep going back. im from chicago. my favorite pizza is giordanos with ginos a close second. there is no deep dish pizza in dayton that comes close. the best thin crust in town comes from big sky in kettering. you must actually bake the pizza at home. second place is the pourhouse on 725 in centerville. everything else is vying for third place. if you think something south of town is better, show me.
