Big Rock Pub is exactly what the desert needed and being a huge rock and roll fan it was a dream come true to have this location 10 minutes away from where I stay. Visually like most people said it's a 5! The decor is on point, it's like a more badass Hard Rock Cafe. The owner put his own personal guitar collection and memorabilia into this place and it's fantastic! It's my home away from home kind of bar that I always dreamed could be successful in the desert especially after all of the hype around "old-chella". Restaurant was clean, plenty of seating, a nice bar, and again visually impressive. Unfortunately a lot of the positives end there. I'd have to agree with a lot of people and say the food is so so, service was not that great, and prices can be a bit high for what you get. Food: 3 stars. Some hits and misses. I really loved the salmon poke but for $14 it's just too small of a serving size, I get fresh fish is expensive but for how delicious it is it's just too small to justify the price. Also the calamari was good but the mustard like dipping sauce we all agreed was a bit weird and didn't compliment the calamari well, an aioli of some sort would have been better. Otherwise the menu is so so, seemed to have enough options but somehow we didn't see much that looked wonderful. My dad enjoyed the sliders and wedge salad so there were some hits. I think stick to the happy hour appetizer menu to get more bang for your buck, otherwise everything was a bit pricey. Drink menu is fantastic in terms of cool names and interesting cocktails. Being a huge GNR fan I went with the "November rain". It was a yummy cocktail for sure but for $10 and being in a small glass, again it didn't seem worth the price, now give me it in a tall glass it'd be worth it. Their beers are good though and cheap so that'll work for me. Lastly, a little disappointed in the service. Sat for a good 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged and the restaurant was barley half full. The manager was nice, friendly, and raved about his servers but unfortunately it was ironic they didn't do him justice and it seemed strange how slow moving everyone was despite the manager being there and being so attentive towards all of the guests. Even getting our check at the end took ages, they seemed to be staffed pretty well actually I don't know if it was just a slow waitress or if they just aren't on top of things here because reading other reviews I noticed complaints on service. Overall I'd give this place another shot. I love the atmosphere & happy hour menu did have a lot to choose from all under $10. If service can improve I'd give this place a solid 4 stars. I'll just keep exploring the menu because I really want to love this place. read more

We have enjoyed coming here for Bingo Tuesdays and the occasional happy hour or live music event and have had a good time every time. The food is pretty good - it is bar food - and the service is great most of the time. What is always terrific: the views, the prices and the convenient location. Portion sizes are outstanding and the drink prices are better than most places in the area. read more

We wanted to try something new, so we chose Big Rock Pub. We sat outside, close to the fire, and had a great evening. The food was delicious and served quickly. The customer service was fantastic. Big Rock Pub is an excellent place for Sunday brunch, happy hour and lunch or dinner. There is plenty of seating on the patios and outdoor beer garden. They've recently cranked up their new pizza oven and the result is fantastic pizzas. I highly recommend the cedar plank salmon, the strawberry spinach salad (I add grilled chicken) and the cheeseburger is awesome. The view of the golf course can't be beat! read more

We first came to Big Rock Pub five years ago when we moved to the desert. A lot has changed since then. This place used to be crawling with people on Friday and Saturday nights because they had live music those nights virtually every weekend. Covid took some of the steam out of this place and they're still struggling to get back to where they were back then, in my opinion. Live music is much more sparse now and a lot of the times they charge to get in. That's okay because we have choices that are always free like the Rock Yard during the spring, summer and fall, but I miss coming here. I'd like to see these guys get back to where they were a few years ago. read more

Great food and service. Our high school baseball team was in Palm Desert for a tournament and the coaching staff stopped off here for lunch in between games. Great service, very hospitable, generous and the food was excellent. The establishment is decorated with awesome rock memorabilia. They even gave my son (our batboy) a free desert. Food was amazing. The brussel sprouts and sliders were amazing. Decor was killer. Drinks were fun and strong. My bf really (I mean REALLY) liked the fried pork spare ribs. Everything was clean and well kept. Extremely well worth the heat (109°), luckily they have misters and fans for the outside area. Will be going back WHEN ever we have the chance. My boyfriend and I came here a while ago and really enjoyed the decor and the food was great too. The waitress did seem to forget about us, we had our glasses refilled when we were basically almost out of there. We had a pleasant experience except for a brief encounter with a bartender with blonde hair and short bob cut. It's a sports bar with 50 tv"s, it's a Sunday, we sat outside, the first set of football games just ended and we asked if they can change the channel of one of the tv's to a particular football game. Somehow this request got her discombobulated and upset. She was visibly frustrated and said she doesn't control the tv and they can't change the channel and these people at the bar has been watching the game. So instead of finding someone who can assist to change the channel of 1 of 50 tv's, she just blurted out the most insane response for a sports bar. I walked around and found a spot where they showed the game we want to see. As I headed back to get the rest of my party, she blurted out again that the TVs have to be on the same channel (not true because there were 2 different games a minute before) and the people at the bar has been watching the game (not true because the afternoon games just started). That's just lazy and what a way to respond to a customer. Food and drinks were great! I'll come back for the grilled chicken wings. Service by our wait staff was fantastic. read more

This place has so much potential but right now they have no guidance. So I go to the Big Rock today for a friend and former MLB baseball player Bill Sudakis. I arrived al 5 and sat at one of the long tables with a reserved sign on it. I asked the server if this was the correct table. A girl came by and I placed my order, she told me she couldn't serve me until I checked in with the hostess up front. Seriously? I just got up and left. This place knows what it is -- a great sports bar with awesome outdoor dining and ok food. I like that. You go to watch the game or music, enjoy a beverage and maybe have a snack. The atmosphere is spot on and it's actually pretty hard to find good outdoor dining from Palm Desert on south. Food -- nothing special. Decent salads, burgers, fries, some attempts to create interesting dishes like edamame with soy and mayo or buffalo cauliflower. Otherwise, a solid (but single) notch above Applebees. My wife and I took my grandmother out for lunch. The atmosphere is good here and so is the food. I have been here before and usually get great service, but for whatever reason I felt like the server was bothered every time we asked her for something. Not sure if it's made daily but it really has a frozen pizza quality. Unfortunately also, asked for extra crispy crust. Stop looking for places to eat & come here! This place was amazing! If you are at all into music, especially old time rock & roll, you will be starstruck. The menus are on actual old album covers & there are autographed guitars & other memorabilia all over the place. The server was super friendly & helpful with suggestions. The food was really good too. I had the carnitas tacos & they were delicious. The chicken quesadilla was big & filling & did not disappoint. It's not my personal cup of tea, but I was told that the bread pudding was awesome. There is something on the menu for everybody. Quickie Update: One friend said his drinks had way too much ice, and the other said 3.5 stars because it felt like Chuck E. Cheese to him with the age range of the patrons and the lighting. It's almost 11 pm, and hours past my usual bedtime. I don't even drink alcohol. Why am I here? It's my buddy's birthday, and I am designated driving. This review is strictly for the ambience. I like the energy here! There's a live band inside and a huge area outside complete with fire pit and pool tables. The deck overlooks a pretty lake. The crowd is a mix- there's cougars drinking wine (not to mention making out with each other while hitting on 20-somethings lol), plus a younger crowd drinking beer and mixed drinks. It's not over-crowded, which is a huge plus. I would be grumpy playing Bumper-Butts with drunks. Overall, I'm not sure I'd return unless friends need designated driver, but I do recommend this place to others who like the nightlife. What a Dif! Before the pandemic just ok but with Bruce the new manager and maybe a new chef we were impressed with both the food and the service. Ivan was great at tending to our needs. There is nothing else in the valley that compares to the quirky, fun and unique collection of guitars and other memorabilia (Elvis mannequin in costume in women's bathroom ) dotting the walls and even ceilings. Outdoor dining is top drawer with bright red umbrellas and a picture perfect sweeping golf course and mountain view with lake, fountain, and under lit palm trees. With its casual, friendly atmosphere We felt right at home. Menu is both healthy and indulgent. Topping it all off are the numerous 25+ TVs including 8!huge TVs with the best sports show in town. This is a gem among bar restaurants in the valley including a terrific Sunday brunch! Can't wait to come back. read more

The setup is nice and the patio serves its purpose. However...slow, slow, slow service. What should've been an hour meal turned into 2 hours. Understaffed (maybe they're trying to hire and its hard right now, not sure) and really slow to deliver our food. 45 minutes of our 2 hour meal was waiting for our lunch to be delivered. The food itself tasted better than it has in the past so that was a positive. Just need to fine tune staffing and food delivery times. read more

My dad and I visited this place during a mid-week happy hour (4-6 pm) and ordered food and drinks off the Happy Hour menu only. Food items were priced at $6.00 per plate with a nice selection of good tasting bar food. Unfortunately we also ordered house or happy hour margaritas but were later told margaritas were not priced as well drinks for $5.00. Had we known this we would have ordered draft beer or wine instead for $5.00. We ordered 4 margaritas with dinner and only when the bill came did we learn they charged $7.59 per drink (plus tax) instead of $5.00. We thought we were having a cheap dinner and drinks but the bill came to over $60.00!! We commented to the "manager" and he simply said the waitress should have told us that we were not ordering happy hour drinks and, oh by the way, we should feel grateful that she made a mistake by not charging the "full" price for our drinks. The mis-understanding and poor communications on the part of the waitress and manager should have been handled by offering our drinks at the happy hour pricing we thought we were buying. Given we are in the middle of a very hot summer here in the desert and businesses need customers to step out of their homes despite the temps, I expected MUCH better of this establishment. I was planning to bring a large group of 8-12 people here for a congenial happy hour sometime soon. I guess we will be staying in Palm Springs and not travel to La Quinta. read more

From the moment we sat down to the moment we left it was just horrible service. we waited 15 minutes for someone to come take our order to the point I had to get up and ask the hostess where our waiter was and then after we placed our drink orders, we had to wait another 25 minutes to get our drinks. Then the food took forever to come out, but not only that it was also extremely subpar food and they brought all the food out in separate categories so there was 10 of us and three of us were left waiting for another five minutes for the rest of food to come out, which was very awkward for my party to know if we can eat or not, I don't recommend this place considering the price for food quality and service. It is not worth it in my opinion. Since we were a larger party we think our waitress just didn't care because she knew gratuity was included regardless which is just awful especially if the service is bad as it was for us. Thought we finally found a go to place for lunch/dinner and drinks. WRONG!!! Service couldn't be worse. I finally flagged down someone to take my order as my server was nowhere to be found. After 15 minutes my server showed up to inform me it was another 45 minute wait. Cancelled the order, going McDonalds instead. Too bad as this place had a chance to be a great place.
