CVT was replaced with warranty in one week and car was reprogrammed. I'm sure I will never have transmission issues with this car again, but if I do with any other car..... Specialty Gear & Transmission is the only place I will go!

Our transmission went out on our 2015 Winnebago Motorhome. How lucky we were to find Robert and his…read morecrew. Not only were the nicest guys you'll meet, they were totally professional and you could tell they really cared about what they did. He ordered a transmission and it showed up on Friday afternoon and he promised before they closed we would be on the road and sure enough we were! Not only that, he was very fair in his pricing, as well. We are based up in San Jose, and he could've easily taken advantage of us, which he did not. Thank goodness for people like Robert and the guys that work for him. I would highly recommend Robert and his shop.

My daughter's 2012 Subaru Outback's transmission went out and my mechanic recommended AATR. I also…read moresaw that they had great reviews. The car is old and I was considering junking it. I took the car in to AATR and after talking with TJ, who was initially great to deal with, I decided to have a used transmission installed. After the transmission was installed, my daughter drove the car with one of their mechanics. She noticed quite a bit of shaking in the steering g wheel when she turned and as she accelerated from a stop. The mechanic said it might be due to the different rear axles that had to be installed as well. About a week later, my daughter was driving up the grade and the transmission went out. We had the car towed to AATR and she told TJ what had occurred. He initially attempted to deny that it was the transmission, but after checking the car out, he acknowledged it was the transmission, as a side note TJ was on vacation while they were working on the car the second time and I contacted the shop to get an update. One of the mechanics informed me that the owner was not pleased with the way the car ran during the initial transmission replacement. I don't understand why they would have allowed a car towed leave their shop that was unsafe to drive. At this point my daughter was nervous about driving the car. We picked up the car and TJ advised us that it was during better this time, but still had a little shaking and not to accelerate to quickly from a stop. We drove it and still noticed it wasn't quite right, but better than before. My daughter lives in San Diego and drove the car back. Approximately 1 month later, her transmission went out once more. We had it towed to a mechanic in San Diego. This is what I would consider top notch and if you live in San Diego, I would highly recommend Ron's Auto Clinic. Ron talked to me at length to figure out exactly what was happening. He was confused as to why AATR installed a different geared rear differential and said he had never seen that for a Subaru. I went to AATR and questioned TJ about this and his response was that is what was instructed based on the transmission that he installed. He added that these are the kinds of risks that someone takes with used transmissions. I also expressed my concern that I was going to have to pay someone else to install a new transmission and requested we work something out to see about assisting with the cost. He took my number down and said he would talk to the owner and get back to me. I had Ron replace the rear differential and axles that were installed by AATR and the transmission. He did it for about $1000 less than what I was charged at AATR and it is running great now. I have yet to hear back from TJ and I can't believe that a general mechanic could figure out what a shop that specializes in transmissions couldn't. AATR you seem like you pride yourself on your work. You should make this right.
