I had my brakes replaced by Big O. Later when I had my vehicle at the dealership service dept they said that the brakes were missing the shims. When I went back to Big O they said brakes don't need shims despite what dealer of my vehicle said. I made an appointment with Big O because they said they wanted to see their brake job but when I arrived at the scheduled time they said I had to wait for two hours before they could help me. Not a good way to do business. They were not really willing to help me. read more

I visited the store the day before to order my tires and set an appointment. I showed up on time and was informed they were running 20-25 minutes behind. It took them over an hour to bring my truck in to get started. Everything they do is an attempt to upsell and get more money out of you. After leaving one of my TPMS sensors never started reading again. Additionally I had one brand new tire that I requested they place in the bed of my truck as I wanted to keep it as a spare. When they had finished the job I asked if my tire was there and was told it was. When I went outside to check the tire was gone. They claimed that it was taken by someone who disposes of tires for them (only took that one the other three warn tires were still on site. I think they are selling usable tires to a third party) they said they would contact me tomorrow when they got my tire back. I have yet to be contacted. read more

We took our RAV 4 in to have the brakes checked due to the mileage threshold. They gave us a quote of over $1700 to fix brakes and struts they said were shot. We took to TWO other reputable shops and both said absolutely NOTHING wrong with either brakes or struts. read more

Went in for a simple oil change. Called with a list of things after "checking" things out, that needed repair asap l, they said. They try to pressure you into "if you want to do it today, we give you a discount" but only today...is basically their go to then charge upcharge. Especially if you're a female...they look at you like bait...$$$. read more

Got approved through their colab Finance company Acima. Drove over an hour to get tires put in my new rims. Was denied by Acima afterwards even though I had been approved all afternoon. The owner operator Kyle Aubuchon then got Acima to credit him 700 on a 1065 invoice. He then held me there and would not let me leave until I opened up my wallet and showed him how much money I had. Prior to that he applied at Snap Finance and Easy Finance without my permission. Also took my routing number and account number to my bank. He kept saying I still owled him 488 even though Acima paid 700. Said I couldn't go nowhere and that he wasn't letting product leave the store and threatened to take the tires off my car even after Acima paid 700 dollars. After he forced me to give him my money out if my bank enveloped he flicked my key back at me and finally let me leave. I was very upset and shaken over this and it affected my mental Heath. I will never go back to this Big O Tires or any Big O Tires location ever again. read more

Had never really heard of a MAP sensor, but Big O explained it all and replaced mine with a new one. It was not cheap, and it was not done instantly, but they did take care of it and the "check engine" light has not been lighting up since this work was done a few mos. ago. Sitting here now wondering if Big O can take on an issue with headlights that light up, but the "brights" do not remain on "bright" when you push in the stick on the left side of the steering wheel. read more

Went in for an oil change and quote on some tires. When my oil change was almost done the front desk guy came over and started the conversation by telling me they can't let me leave or drive my car away. As women that makes me want to run. The guy proceeded to tell me my tires had the wires showing and if i hit a pot hole my tires would explode. I paid for the oil change and went out to my car went to another shop and they confirmed that the tires were NOT showing wires. And yes i needed new tires but they were not to the point of telling a person the tires would explode. If you are a women stay clear of this place! And don't feel pressured to believe them and know they can not tell you " you can't leave". read more

After a recent trip to Kansas City, I had a flat tire. I went to big O tires to get it replaced. The person who greeted me was friendly and thorough. He helped me to pick out the right tire, and select the various options. It was busy that day, and he kept me informed during the whole process. They have a good product, and their service is very friendly, and it's affordable. But it's the little things that take you from good service to excellent service. They did not put my spare tire away. Or store the jack for me. And they did not reset the tire sensor on my car. For that I took away one star. I used the form on their website to send a message to their corporate office about my service, and after several weeks I have received no response. For that I took away another star. I will not be returning there for service in the future, but I would also not discourage anyone else from going there. The people at the local store were very friendly and very knowledgeable and did a good job in replacing my tire. read more

My fiancé and I decided to go with Big O Tires because they were close to our home and we had never used them before, but haven't heard horrible things about them. We got a new set of tires mounted and "balanced" for the family van. We notice a vibration in the van that worried us, so we have it checked out by another company. they inform us that ALL of our tires are out of balance! This is completely unacceptable on its own, but is not the end of the problem. I set an appointment and arrived on time, yet I wait over an hour with no word on how things are going. I decide to approach the desk and ask why it is taking so long. The gentleman at the desk says he is going to go help and see what the issue might be. It ended up being over an hour and a half before the vehicle was available to me from the time I handed the keys over! I will NEVER use Big O again, nor will I EVER recommend their services to any body. The only thing that I am pleased with is that David at the desk went to assist the mechanic that was doing the work. *EDIT* I just found out (and was not notified) that they also took the keyed lugs off of my vehicle, so now it is vulnerable to having tires stolen off of it! No way is this acceptable at all!! read more

Do not go to the Big O Tire store on 119th and Blackbob in Olathe,KS. Within the last year, I have bought 3 sets of tires for 3 different cars and purchased the lifetime balance and rotation for each car. I suspected this store was not rotating the tires, so I marked the tires. My suspicions became reality when they did not rotate and balance the tires. When I confronted the manager, Scott Cash, he admitted this was not getting done and when he took over in August, he said he was working to get his workers to do this (rotate and balance the tires.) I had my vehicle in to have this done in November. When I requested a refund, he walked away from me. When I talked to him later on the phone, he hung up on me. Very unprofessional. Just this past year, I have spent over $3000.00 with the purchase of tires, alignments, oil changes and other repairs. I will NEVER go to this store again. read more

I was told my car service would take 45 minutes to an hour when I arrived for the appointment I made a week ago. I've sat here for nearly 2 hours and have had poor customer service from the men at the front desk. I've been told, "It will be done soon" 30 minutes ago. The price may be cheaper than others in town, but you are certainly getting what you pay for here at Big O tire. I highly recommend finding a different company that respects you and your time. read more

Five hours into our 13hr trip on 4th of July weekend our mini van over heated. We quickly found out it was due to a split hose. We tried another auto shop nearby, but they couldn't get us in. Aaron at Big O was able to get us in quickly, diagnose the problem and had the part we needed delivered from a local dealership. Eric installed the new hose, topped off lost fluids and was very polite. He made sure everything was functioning properly before we headed back out on the road even doing a diagnostic test to make sure we had no further issues. Buy all my tires from Dutch and Doug here. Crazy nice fellas, everyone is super helpful and price is very fair. They go out of their way to make you happy. The best part is, if they say they can get you in, they do when they say. They don't over schedule like a lot of the dealers do just to get the work and then your there all day for a simple oil change. My experience here has been neutral-positive since I've started using big o as a tire dealer and mechanic. First thing you will notice is it is always extremely busy. The people that have to check in/out customers also answer the phones for general inquires. That makes explaining to them what's going on or asking a question incredibly frustrating because it takes 3-4 interruptions to get thru a conversation. The amount of volume of calls and customer interaction is a huge distraction to getting effective service. The bad; I've taken my F150 in here a for a various list of normal maintenance and mechanical issues. It's probably the most common vehicle on the road so you'd expect everything to be routine. Twice I've brought it in for a tire rotation that wasn't done. I was only aware the first time because a different tire shop had chalked the tire where they did a flat repair earlier in the day and when I picked it up the rotation was on the ticket but it had obviously not been done. I just decided to ignore it because they were incredibly busy and it was probably just a one time over sight. Until I went back a few months later and the same thing happened. I bought it in for a suspension inspection because of unusual tire wear and they determined the tie rod ends were bad. There was some confusion between the service writers and the techs and they had to have it back for a second day after they ordered the wrong parts. So I again brought it back in and left it for the entire day. I showed back up at the end of the day incorrectly assuming there was time to do everything. I took it home and I noticed the tires hadn't been rotated, again. I've been to tire shops where the people working there were legitimately passionate about tires and cars in general. Some people can look at a tire and can diagnose an issue just by looking at the wear pattern or at least have the decency to let you know there is a problem. I bought these tires from big o and not once did they ever mention that there was a concern with wear or make any attempt to sell me service I didn't explicitly ask for. They will just do what is listed on the ticket and not a lick more. Sometimes less, in fact. I take it back a third time. This occasion happens to be a Saturday where the crowd level was like Disney world, and overwhelmed staff is franticly answering calls and checking customers in and out at an wholly unmanageable pace. I finally make it to the counter and I tell the guy that I need a rotation. In the most condescending and smug voice possible says; "do we have an appointment today?" Well, no I said. I handed him a self-tapping screw I found on the ground outside, simply to make them aware that their construction crew was dropping 2" screws all over their tire shop parking lot. He told me in an equally smug and dismissive tone, "yeah we're doing construction, we can only sweep the parking lot so many times in a day..." I proceeded to tell him my full story in between the phone calls he was taking and after about 5-10 minutes of negotiation he agrees to take my truck in right now, for the rotation that was never done during the 24 business hours its already been there in the last month. I ask him about balancing the tires because of the wear and high speed vibration and he tells me it would be wasting his time and mine. Translation: I don't want to and we obviously don't have time. I get a ride home and less than an hour later I have a text message that says it was done. Should be a good thing. I go pick it up and the guy hands me the ticket without adding a single remark, even though I could see the service tech and written several notes on the job slip. Oh well. As I leave driving down Wanamaker, I could hear a grinding sound as the wheel went around on the road loud enough to come into the cab. It sounded like a rock got between the rotor and back plate. Okay I can fix that. I get home and jack up the front end and discover the reason for the noise was the balancing weights inside the wheel are rubbing the caliper when the front wheel went around. You know, because the front brakes are larger in diameter so, clearance in the wheel is different? I had to scrape off half the weights with a screwdriver to get the wheel to move freely. Spinning it by hand at least once would have revealed this problem. They don't take any care to check their work. It was about finishing the job as quickly as possible with no regard for the outcome. Just close the ticket and make it someone else's problem. I took the truck to a different shop to balance the wheels and all 4 tires needed weight. Some over an ounce and now the vibration is gone. These are 37" BFG T/As @ $400 per, with a voided treadwear warranty because the tread wear is uneven and they were not rotated per spec. It definitely makes me wonder if all of the oil changes and other service I've had done was actually completed. What else other people are being charged for that isn't being done? read more

I had been having some issues with a check engine light in my 2012 Malibu. My car was dying on the way to and from work. I called big O to look further into my p0068 code which was indicating I needed to replace the throttle body. Before that I had replaced the camshaft sensors myself (after being told they were $200 a pop plus labor) which fixed my p00014 code. My car also began making a noise making my engine sound like a diesel. Big O replaced a pig tail on my sensor and changed the oil to flush all the gunk out. There were metal shavings on the screen of the sensor (in the oil) indicating a deeper issue. They called me to let me know what was necessary to fix the car and told me it would be $400. I told him it seemed steep. He told me that he could replace the sensors for free since I had just got them from autozone (ended up being part of my bill). When I got there I was told that my car sounded 100% better and was good to go for a while but I'd eventually need to replace my timing chain. My car did not sound any better at all but I had to go back to work. At 9:30pm I was driving back to Lawrence and my car died, leaving me stranded 2 hours on the interstate. I was unable to get to work the next day and ended up being late to work for the first time in 3 years. $400 spent and did nothing for me. Not a good experience at all. I tried calling them tonight around 5:30pm but hung up after being placed on hold for 15 minutes. I'm very busy and do not have time for all of this. I understand that they did try some things, but I don't feel that I should have to pay for a misdiagnosis that did absolutely nothing to solve my problem. Update: Managers name was Doug. Really nice guy, but could use better wording than "your car sounds 100% better" and "eventually may have to do additional work to solve the problem." To me I paid for diagnosis and a service and the end result was that there was absolutely no difference in the cars ability to run and even left me stranded on the highway while my pocket is $400 lighter. I finally got ahold of Doug today and he stuck to his guns, unwilling to work with me at all since I have already gone out and bought a new car. Not sure how I would've got my car back without paying a tow truck and then spending another grand to maybe fix the problem. I won't be back and will be looking into BBB to try to at least get some money back. Don't let their indecisive words fool you and trick you into a nightmare process. read more

Excellent service! We were driving from Colorado to Indiana for Xmas and discovered a flat after a night in a roadside hotel. The Big O was only 2 miles away - in spite of the fact they were very busy (Saturday before Xmas) they managed to get our tire fixed in a very timely manner so that we could get back on the road. If I lived in Topeka this is where I would take my car to be worked on! read more
