I originally had rated midas as a 5 star location because I have had nothing but great service until my last 2 visits. I was quoted a price for services and scheduled a return visit. When returned I was told the price would be $25 more than what I was originally quoted. Until I pulled out my paper quote and showed them, then was told it had to be within 30 days. Showed him the dates and I was within 30 days. tHEN and only then did he say okay change it to the originally quoted price. I had paid for a 5 year alignment. They tried to charge me again for a whole new alignment only until AGAIN I pulled out my receipt from the original alignment. He tried to say I needed an oil change when I just had one done 4 weeks ago at this very location. All I'm saying is if you are a woman, make sure you keep all your receipts and quotes that they give you because they WILL try to oversell you and overcharge you if you are NOT paying attention. I was coming in for a diagnostic oil check to see where a possible leak might be that they had "found" last I was in. Nobody not one time told me that it was a 2 step process and they woulsnt even be telling me what was wrong with the vehicle today and that I would have to come back and pay for another check. Again, if you are a woman, keep all documents if you are coming to this place. After today I will no longer do any service with Midas in Topeka Kansas. read more

Buy your own parts of you can. I was charged $1500 for parts I could buy myself for $500. They buy whole sale and mark up a ton. For the work done, too much in labor I feel. However, they originally told me 3 days and they got it done in 1.5 hours. I went in thinking just under a grand and left two grand out. read more

Absolutely disgusting regional manager out of Topeka. This guys should not be in a manager position. Failed service issues multiple times on warranted parts by kicking the can down the road until the warranty was up. Then they found the issue and said the warranty expired. Had service done on my 2005 Honda Civic and they could never fix the problem with overheating and wanted to charge more money after not being able to repair the vehicle. After a few choice words refused service at all after taking over $2000 dollars of my money. Used to be good, but has changed managers too many times, too much staff turnover and a crappy attitude and not willing to stand behind their work. Find a good local shop instead. read more

Today I went to the 5914 SW 21st St. location to get an oil/filter change and tire rotation and they did an excellent job in a timely manner. Plus they got me in that day, on a Saturday no less, which made me very happy. And to make this great experience even better, they had a special going on, full synthetic oil/filter change and tire rotation for $49.99. You can't beat that at all. The staff were all very friendly/professional and took all the recommended precautions during this Covid-19 pandemic, to keep both their staff and customers safe. And last but not least, both the lounge/front desk area and the shop were very clean, neat, and orderly giving me full confidence that my vehicle was in good hands. I usually go to the local dealership here in Topeka to get my vehicle serviced but I am going to definitely give Midas more of my business in the future. read more

I took my truck in because the battery was dying on the road. They "fed me yarn" that both the alternator and battery were fine but I needed a part that was no longer available, but for a grand total of $150 they put a battery switch on my battery claiming it would solve the problem. Within 20 miles I had to jump my truck twice. Took it somewhere else to find out that it was a faulty alternator. When I went back to midas for a refund with the receipt they told me that I had to call the district manager Monday. I just walked out. Never coming back to Midas again! read more

Came here for an oil change at 2pm. We sat for over an hour and they still hadn't gotten to our car so we made an appointment for the next day at 3:30pm. Came back and it took a little over an hour for an oil change. Tire rotations are included in the cost of an oil change. Synthetic oil change is expensive here - $74.99 which came to around $84 with tax. They got the job done but it's expensive and took forever. People working there were nice-ish though. read more

I was in Topeka for a wedding this weekend. I had a totally unexpected alternator issue and i was more than a little upset and stressed. He was so calm and caring as he explained and showed me the testing result which indicated that I did indeed need an alternator. He went above and beyond providing great customer service. brought my car in several times, and they seem not to try to sell anything, they give you their opinions on what is wrong with the car in the report paper and told you about it and that's it. when I brought my car in for suspicion of a slow leak in my tires, they spent quite a long time with different technicians to look at my tires and found nothing, my tires weren't in the best shape either, they could have tried to sell me new tires but they didn't. They didn't charge anything for the time either. read more

I got coupon for an oil change and tire rotation in the mail. Made an appointment for my 2006 Buick. They got my car in quickly and it was being worked on by one guy but apparently his shift ended because he left and nobody worked on it for a while. Finally another guy started working on it. Then an employee came in after about an hour and ten minutes later and said I needed to come out and look at my car. They said I had an oil leak, needed the cabin filters changed and needed transmission service because my car had 123,300 miles on it. I was surprised they wanted $70 for the cabin filters and around $250 for transmission flush and look for the oil leak. I told them to finish the oil change and tire rotation. When they told me my car was done I said that the tires had not been rotated. I was told they decided they didn't need a rotation. I told them the tires had not been rotated in a while and I wanted it done. Reluctantly they did it. When I got home I looked on you tube how to change the cabin filters. I figured for $70 it must be difficult. To my surprise, on my car, you open a small door in the back of the glove box to change the filters. So I picked up two filters for $20 and 3 minutes later I was done. What a rip off. They also led me to believe that if I didn't do the transmission service I shouldn't drive the car because the transmission would go out. Because of that warning, I took the car to the mechanic I have used for over 10 years and told him my story and asked him to check it out and make recommendation on repairs. Well to my surprise he told me "the car is 13 years old, it is going to have oil leaks" and yours are not serious. Regarding the transmission he said the fluid was a little discolored but did not need to be changed unless I just wanted it done. He did not charge me for checking out my car. He also said they had heard several other customers tell similar stories about Midas. My recommendation if you go to Midas for an oil change, do not let them do any other work. Get an estimate and the take your car to an honest mechanic. I went to the one on 21st street in Topeka KS. read more

Had an issue with my tire - it seemed to be losing air without a puncture or hole. They noticed a dent in my rim possibly due to hitting a pot hole which may have been causing air to escape. They fixed it and sent me back on the road for free. Speedy and courteous service! read more

i have to say i have no idea how this store stays open. i do admit i missed my first appointment my fault but when i make my appointment i expect them to do their job. i waited two weeks for service and on the day of service i called to make sure my appointment was still good and while on my way i even called to advise the store owner or manager i was almost there and he then tells me im sorry but we are swamped and have to move you to another day. i was so pissed i just told him are you serious why didn't you call and advise me sooner! what a shity way to do service! keep this up and you will lose all your customers! read more

Took my vehicle here for oil change and tire rotation. Had a coupon for 19.99 which included both. Picked up my vehicle and they said they didnt rotate my tires because it was an all wheel drive vehicle. Yet I was still charged the full price? A) my vehicle is not all wheel drive, B) why would the price remain the same if they didnt do all the work? C) the exact same problem occured to a friend of mine on the EXACT same day. I scheduled my appointment with Midas although my tires were not in stock they arrived the next day and Travis (store manager) himself installed my new tires in a timely manner. read more

This is the Topeka ks location on 21st street. Took car to Midas via referral from dealership for exhaust issues that is cheaper via aftermarket parts that work just as well. First they installed the catalytic converters. However when I picked it up the car ran worse than when I took it in. They stated it was fine but would run a little ruff. Took it back in 2 days later they stated that it needed a tune up. If not completed right away it was putting raw fuel into the converters I had just paid 3k for. When I picked it up the manager stated. "It's running like a dream". The car was still running ruff. They said it's fine to drive. It will work out. I didn't get a mile away and the car died turning the corner. I called back in. It was a little after six. The manger stated he wasn't a mechanic and they were all gone for the day to bring it back in the next am. They ran a diagnostic test and it was a #3 misfire. They cleared it and said it was fine to drive. I took it back to the dealership the next week. The issue was the fuel injector. (It probably didn't need the tune up. They were just taking advantage of a woman). The coil that they put on was bad but fortunately the dealership was able to get the part warranted. When the dealership ran the tests the welds were leaking that Midas did. When I had picked the car up from Midas I had to wait on them to finish welding it and then they did a quick drive. They didn't do any kind of check to see if it was leaking. I had the dealership fix it since there is no way I would ever let Midas work on my vehicles. I went back to Midas to get reimbursed for the weld fix. The manager was extremely rude. I stated I would need to take them to court and his response was. "I don't care, I don't own this business."
