I usually make a trip to this Big Lots location when I'm in town. Unfortunately, Bloomington-Normal no longer has one. The store is all right. I never make a special trip to East Peoria to go here. It's really close to where my mom lives. See, I have this bad habit of losing or misplacing earbuds. Since Big Lots has earbuds starting at 5 dollars, I'm constantly returning to buy a new pair.
They have a large selection of cheap DVDs. I swear before I owned a Blu-ray player, they use to have a bunch of Blu-rays. Now their selection is minimal. I recently bought a decent blue tooth speaker for 10 dollars. At one time, they had video games but I haven't seen them for quite some time. Their toy department has shrunk tremendously.
They have a grocery section. You're probably OT going to do your weekly grocery shopping here but you can pick up something to eat for the night. I'd say they are best for snacks. Although, the store was so hot when I was in there last that some of the chocolate was melted.
There is a furniture section that looks to have some good pieces. I bought my bought my bookshelf from here. It was fairly inexpensive and pretty good quality. I'd buy more furniture from there if I lived closer. It's just not worth hauling stuff 40 minutes away.
The most questionable part of the store are some of the employees. It's almost shocking when I get engaged by a friendly and helpful employee. Like, they actually hire people like you!?!? It feels like most of them just show up to work to talk to each other and hate having to deal with customers.
What I enjoy most about Big Lots is finding various items for cheap. read more
