Thought this place deserved another star! I'd mentioned that the customer service fell a little flat my first visit but on a return visit I was asked if if needed help by a really nice store associate working the floor, despite that fact that the store was bustling. That kind of service should be recognized!! That's more like it- thanks BL!! :) *Also, I explored more of the store this time and saw some really neat merchandise priced very very reasonably...to rival if not surpass the prices of the online retail Goliath with whom I have a love/hate relationship with due to what has become my big tech ethical shopping dilemma HAHAHA. read more

Bargains are everywhere that you look in this store and I always leave with a FULL cart, sometimes (2) FULL carts and a trip to the rear shipping dock for large furniture purchases. Horribly Managed Store, With Despicable Mistreatment Of Customers! An everyday item - 24 packs of spring water - were coated with grime when I visited over the weekend, requiring me to use paper towels and store bags to clean them! When I pointed out the dirty merchandise to a cashier and shift manager giving his name as Charles, both said they were well aware of the problem....but "that's how they come off the truck." Really? So why not clean the tops of the cases before selling them to customers? But it gets worse. After I spent twenty minutes cleaning the cases of water, divided six cases into two wagons and paid for this merchandise, along with some other items, I asked the one cashier to please watch my wagon while I took the first one out to my car, and then ran back in for the second. She said she would. The store was dead as a door nail at the time, with no more than two other customers present. Returning within a minute, the wagon the cashier was watching was sitting where I left it totally empty!! "Charles" then said he didn't want paid-for merchandise left in a wagon, so he put the cases back in the pallet with the other cases of spring water...making it impossible to know the ones I had cleaned! When I explained that I had a medical issue that made it hard to go through the process again, this guy laughed at me! The cashier who promised to watch the merchandise seemed to be afraid of this shift manager, and now couldn't remember that she had promised to watch the wagon for one minute! What standard does Big Lots have for hiring managers? How dare customers be treated like garbage, let alone mocked for having a medical issue? Wasting my time, I called Big Lots' district manager, Steve, to report the incident, only to be told what a wonderful store this was, that he had never had a complaint previously, etc., etc., before hanging up on me!! Big Lots clearly has ZERO regard for how customers are abusively treated by personnel hired as so-called managers, for accommodating the disabilities of patrons, for customer safety, or for the cleanliness of merchandise they sell! As far as Big Lots' New Jersey district manager is concerned, customers can shop elsewhere if they don't like the bad treatment or dirty merchandise, and just plain go to hell. Unless that mindset changes, and an apology is received, it's not worth setting foot in or spending another dime with this or any area Big Lots. read more

Yesterday, July 8th 2017 my wife convinced me to go shopping on our way home yesterday. So we stopped at Big Lots and walked around. As the the cashier rang us up for $140 bill, he shows me a 20% off sale they are doing today, July 9th 2017. At that point I decided to wait until today to save the money. I asked to speak to a manager about layaway. Tom the manager came up to the front to speak with me. As soon as I asked about layaway he snapped at me and said I was the 50th person today. It should not matter if I was the thousandth person to ask him he was very rude and I decided to go to Target and buy all the same stuff today instead. Please thank Tom the manager for losing the sale. read more

For starters, I wish i could give a 0 star. The customer service was horrible. I was in line for about 5-10 minutes, not bad, right? However when I got to the register, it shut down. It was the only register open, the line was back by the frozen foods. After about another 5-10 minutes, the employee called over another to open up another register. The other customers were being helped and even apologizing to me because they knew I had been there for what felt like days. The Manager Evan was 0 help at all. After 35 minutes of being there, I didn't receive an apology or anything. They then said i would have to go the back of the line for the other register after I had been there waiting for 40 minutes. I laughed and asked if they were serious. All around horrible customer service, will be spreading the word to not shop there. You guys lost a regular customer as well as the friends and family of one. It is a damn shame. Evan may need to go back to orientation or basic training on customer service, because that is no way to manage a store. Even talking back to customers before me. -5/10 . Horrible employee! I was waiting outside for 10-15 minutes and the doors were still locked. They open at 9am and the girl in the front clearly saw me standing there trying to get in and she just walked away. When I called to see what the h*ll was up with them not opening the doors she just laughed. Where are the managers in this place? Won't be long till this location goes out of business if that is the kind of employees you have working there! Horrible! read more

The entire staff at this store is amazing. Amanda in Furniture is especially great. We bought two couches this week and are so happy with the product and the service we received. If she stays with the store a huge Christmas Bonus is in order. Thanks so much for for making our shopping so easy. read more
