After going there two separate times and spending a total of 10 hours waiting to find out that my tires we're not balance correctly I go back they asked me to wait in line that it will be another two hours so I express that that was not acceptable seeing how it had to be work that had to be redone and was told that I could take my business elsewhere and I was thrown my keys and then Josh add Big Johns told me I shouldn't look at him an hour on satisfactory manner and then persisted to cuss at me and threw me my keys and thought that he could intimidate me which did not work so I left and went and got my tires balanced elsewhere correctly I have lived in the community for 39 years and I very rarely go to this place every 8 to 9 years I give them a shot and they continually show me why I choose not to do business with them they feel that they're the only tire store in Santa Clarita are very arrogant I do not recommend them whatsoever there are too many places in Santa Clarita Valley that will treat you with respect and courtesy read more

These are the only guys I trust with my car for regular repairs, upgrades, etc. My family and I have been going to them for 7 years and have had repairs and upgrades done on cars ranging from a Ford Explorer to a BMW 535i. I seriously think of them as family. I've even brought them brownies and cookies because of how much I admire their work! They are so honest and have the most fair prices I've ever come across. Just a few months ago, a close friend of mine told me he was at the Toyota dealership about to get a repair done and I begged him to go to Big John's for a quote first. He took my advice and Big John's performed the repair for $100 less than Toyota. Their quality of service, products, prices, and repair time is why their customers stay loyal to them. I am a female and have never been taken advantage of by them. Even though I am very knowledgeable about cars, you don't have to be! My daughter is spending the summer in LA. Her tire pressure warning light went on so she pulled to a safe place to check the pressure. She found that one tire was low. Having concerns she went to Big Johns to have it checked out. She was in the first week of a new job so was in a rush and very anxious. John was super helpful and promised to have it checked out and fixed in under 30 mins. Not only did they finish quickly - but found nothing wrong - no nail. Just low. They checked and filled all he tires correctly (it's a new car with only 500 miles on it) and sent her on her way free of charge. rip-off so the other day my female cousin goes into there shop she was having a problem with her a/c not getting cold so they proceeded to inspect & give her an estimate for the repairs they told her she needed to replace every component that had to do with the a/c system , which meant replacing all of the components & gave her a price of almost $900.00 so she called me and asked my opinion, i told her to go get a estimate from another shop , i told her that i believe that it was only low on freon & needed to be charged, sure enough the second repair shop told her that they agreed that they believe it only needed to be ( charged ) & told her they would do a complete a/c service for $ 149.00 and also told her that if the a/c service/ freon charge did not work they would give her a refund of the service charge , turned out the second repair shop was rite it only needed a small amount of freon put in , a/c works perfect now & is ice cold ,Also the second shop that it was taken to Also asked if it was taken somewhere prior to him for the same problem , the reason he was asking he said that someone conveniently disconnected some components . After the second shop plugged them back in and charged the system the AC works perfectly, her car is only 6 years old & didn't need all the a/c components replaced that BIG JOHNS PERFORMANCE Said it needed , your a rip-off & you lost a customer, you tried too rip off a young female , thinking she didn't know any better , you should get zero stars , better be careful one of your future customers just might be from the tv show called ( eye on your side ) rip-off report read more

Stupid me...I didn't read the reviews before going to this place. I had a few simple requests on having axle-back mufflers installed on my brand new car. I wanted the stock exhaust pipe cut with a pipe cutter, not a sawzall. John told me they could do that! So I arranged to have the work done there. As it turned out AFTER I had waited for about an hour, they said that their pipe cutter would not fit! If that was the case, I could have gone to any of 1/2 dozen other shops and had the work done for less money! But I agreed to proceed with the work anyway. Another simple request, ONE THAT IS MENTIONED IN THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS, is NO AIR IMPACT TOOLS used to tighten the fasteners. Well, the mechanic apparently thought he should disregard the manufacturer's instructions AND the customer's request in the interest of flat-rating the job. (Don't tell me how to do my job?) The installation instructions are very clear and simple. The instructions say to disassemble the REAR muffler mounts, then remount them AFTER each muffler is connected to the factory exhaust pipes. But the mechanic did not follow those simple instructions provided! He did not remove 4 nuts to remove those 2 mounts!! 30 seconds! Instead, he had to have an assistant use a 4 foot pry-bar against the drive shaft coupling and the catalytic converter to shift the exhaust system in order to allow the mufflers to fit. This at least damaged the outer case of the converter! There is no such procedure in the instructions!! I'm not sure about internal damage to the converter, but with only 1,000 miles on my car, it is already being ABUSED and MOLESTED by these two "mechanics!!" All because of primadonna laziness!! This ANIMAL left his "signature" on my car as a reminder to NEVER GO BACK OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I've been a mechanic for nearly 40 years and I must say, these mechanics are just like most of the yahoos I had to work with over the years. I called them, "thievin' butchers" and "animals." My work ethic and pride in workmanship is not typical of the trade. In hindsight, at 65 years old, I should have done the work myself on the floor of my garage at home. I know it would be done THE RIGHT WAY! But for sure, I will not be recommending or going back to THIS place. They do not even use seat covers and floor mats. There simply is no excuse to treat people's vehicles with such disrespect! read more

This review is two months late but I promised i'd leave the review and am following through with that. I called and spoke to Daniel about getting some J.W. Speaker headlight and fog lights installed in my JK Wrangler and he was extremely helpful. The issue was that it was my only day off and he was backed up with jobs for the day so he wasn't sure if he could get me in. It wasn't the end of the world, I just work a lot of hours and wasn't sure when i'd be able to set it up. Daniel understood and told me if I dropped my Jeep off that day he'd try to get to it but there were no guarantees. He told me he legitimately would try to make it work and any cancellation of appointments or any job that finished sooner than expected and he would get right on it. I figured it was worth it so I dropped off my Jeep around Noon and at about 4pm I get a call from Daniel that the job was done and to come pick up my Jeep. I was definitely appreciative and will be back when I add my Lift, Wheels and tires! I actually work in the auto business and have referred a LOT of people to Big John's over the years just based on what I've heard from other people and customers. This was the first time I've used them personally and they did an exceptional job. I was very happy with the service and the install and will be coming back and continuing to refer people to them in the future. read more

Never Again - I went in for an alignment on my 5 year old 4x4 1 ton truck and was told by Big John's that my ball joints had to be replaced for around $1,400 due to play prior to the alignment. I went to the dealer for a second opinion and was told that the play was well within the manufacturer specifications and they aligned the truck for $125. I went back to Big John's and asked them if they were aware of the manufacturer specification's or measure the play as part of their evaluation. The poor guy looked like a deer in headlights. He admitted that they don't know manufacturer specifications for ball joint play so they don't measure it. They just shake the truck and if they see play they think you should pay to have them replaced. Watch your wallet or if you prefer, just give them a blank check! read more

Very disappointed with the recent customer service at big johns. I have been a customer of big johns for many years. We purchased 4 new tires a year ago (8K miles ago). When we purchased them (DV the sales person) stated that they didn't have the same tire, and recommended a high performance tire instead. I asked him at the time of purchase if they would ride and preform like the tires we were replacing, he said yes. 8 months later we took the car in for brakes and asked them to check the wheel Barings because the car was very loud. If they test drove the car they could have told us then that it was the tires. I visited them today to ask if there was anything they can do. (I wasn't asking for a new set of tires, (just possibly pro-rating me for a new set due to the fact there are only 8K miles on them) They told me no stating there is an 45 day warrantee for road noise, I guess is an unwritten rule because it was nowhere to be found on any of the paperwork we received. I even asked him if that was stated anywhere and he said no. The gentleman I spoke too handled the situation well, Josh on the other hand asked me to quite down and told me I was being rude. I didn't think I was loud, but if he spent over $1,000 and was not happy he would have been just as loud. Big Johns came highly recommended from many of our friends and still I have nothing but positive things to say from past experiences. read more

I thought that Big John's was more of a specialty tire and rim shop that did lift kits on 4 by's etc., I didn't realize they are a really good auto repair shop. Particularly with somewhat older cars. Not a lot of mechanics around who know the older stuff really well. We bought my daughter an old '93 Toyota 4Runner. It started having a problem with engine power--would start and run but just wouldn't go. Three different shops played around with it but didn't resolve the problem. A friend of ours told us to take it to Big John's which we did. Found out the first shop had "fixed" the problem all right--which left missing parts, springs, etc., in the timing belt system, idler pulley. Big John's fixed the problem correctly, replaced missing parts, and the 4Runner ran great. From then on they have been our 'go to'. I just took our 2008 Camry there for a full 100,000 mile service--at about half the cost of the dealership. They completely drained and flushed every single fluid system in the car--brake fluid, radiator, transmission, etc. The longest wait I've had there getting my car into them and back was 24 hours, turnaround is pretty quick. Hey they are a busy shop--always busy-- and along with brand new trucks and cars in their parking lot you'll see a good number of old stuff too--old trucks, cars, Suburbans, etc. Lastly, my son bought a '93 Ford 150 4x4 pickup with high miles which wouldn't pass smog and had the check engine light on, they went through the EGR system and found some disconnected or leaking lines, etc., replaced EGR solenoid. In other words, these guys are good at diagnosing problems and fixing them properly. Personable, knowledgable, reasonable, honest shop. read more

This place was fast, with pleasant service. I went in at 10 am and was out by 10:35am. I headed to Big John's after my daughter got a flat tire on my car. I asked them to see if the tire could be repaired and if not I wanted a cheap tire since the car is leased and the lease is up in just a few months. My daughter had run over a curb and the tire had a big gash in it so he told me I would need a new tire. He said he would look around and see if they had a used one that would fit. He came back within minutes to tell me yes they had one and they would put it on along with rotate, and balance the tires ~ no charge. The price was extremely reasonable and like Isaid I was back on the road within 35 minutes. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

My wife knows the entire family through church, while I'm more familiar with the sons closer to my age. They are an awesome family & their successful business with many loyal customers is a reflection of the character that runs in the family. While they may not be found at the counter or pushing tires...I feel the women supporting them behind the scenes are likely the modest yet crucial key to this family's successes.For me, patronizing Big John's is also a family affair. My 6 month old car was losing air rapidly in my rear run flat so I took her into the dealer to check if I had a puncture. I had a slender nail on the right side of the tread and it was suggested I buy a brand new $300 replacement....lol. The tech whispered Big Johns Performance and I booked it over there. They were so friendly, attended to me immediately and had my flat fixed no problem for a hell of a lot less than 3 big ones. They also got me contact info for wrapping, were super friendly, well priced & had a big selection of cars they were working on. I'm so glad I found them. As I got there a father and his little girl were leaving - Big Johns had gone so far as to have Nick Jr. playing on the big tv for her. That's some customer service! If I could give a negative star rating I would do so.. I have taken my Jeep here for years and spent over all more than a couple thousand on brakes alone because every time they put on new brakes, they would wear out sometimes in a matter of months. Even under warranty, I would have to shell out a couple hundred for something. I was recently told that the rotors they install aren't American made and therefore wear out quickly.. too bad they don't charge sub standard prices. Every single thing they have replaced in my Jeep has failed within a year and yes, they've had to re-replace them under warranty, but honestly.. who has this kind of time ? I want my vehicle repaired right the first time ! Another issue.. they would give me a courtesy ride home, tell me it would only be a few hours and that they would call when my Jeep was ready.. and consistently "forget" to call, leaving me without a vehicle for the entire day. I would wait until I knew they were getting ready to close to call them only to be told "oh yes, it's ready" and "we'll send someone right away to get you" only to have no one show up so that I have to call again ! I am a single working mother and use my weekends for all the running around that I cannot do during the week, so it's a major inconvenience when ever this happens. If I could give 5 stars for just "Friendliness" they would get it.. they are awesomely friendly.. but that is NOT what I am paying them (handsomely) for. My son and I were very nearly in an accident because my back brakes failed less than a year after Big Johns installed them. One last thing.. they were also going to charge me $170 more to replace the water pump, claiming they had to change a timing gasket to "get at" the water pump... even gave me a printed estimate which I took to Midas to get a comparison. Midas replaced the pump and informed me that the Timing Gasket had absolutely nothing to do with it and saved me the $170..I cannot honestly say if this was an honest mistake or if they were trying to take advantage of a single woman's mechanical ignorance, but either way, I will NOT be going back to Big Johns. read more

worst place ever for service - i agree with the previosu comment about the arrogance and lack of concern for customers. They are such a rip off as well and when I complained they didn't even reply to my email. They did 1000 worth of repairs to my sons truck and then decided to tell me that the frame might be bent. Sure enough the frame was bent and the truck was totaled - but of course they did 1000 of worthless repairs first - shouldn't they have considered the frame before they did that work?. And it was going to be 1500 until I had to ASK them to look for refurbished parts. And then that 1000 was for nothing anyway. Then they sold me tires for my pop up trailer and put golf cart tires on my trailer. Needless to say I had 2 separate blow outs on the freeway as these tires are not meant for higher speeds or the highway. They did replace them, but no apology, no concern for the danger that they exposed me to. We had been going there for a number of years but I will never ever go there again. They also replaced the generator on one of our cars once and it went bad in a couple of weeks. they did replace it but it is a hassle to keep being without your car because they put in bad parts. Overall, their demeanor said they didn't care about me or making me happy and that they have enough customers taht they don't need me. read more

My husband and I had a HORRIBLE experience with Big John's today! They clearly do NOT value their long time, LOYAL customers- or understand the adage that the customer is always right! First of all think twice about buying tires from a store where the owner John and his son do NOT offer extended warranty insurance on their tires because they "don't believe in it"! WTH? If I had known this we would not have bought 4 VERY pricey Bridgestone's there! We had a blow out on one of my NEW tires 2 days ago, and the sidewall was damaged. We had to buy another NEW pricey tire due to their BS lack of extended warranty, as tire couldn't be repaired! In fairness, they did give us a discount- but the Son was very rude/arrogant to me on the phone, after I had been on a LONG hold! Grrr! Then the Son told me that my Hubs had told him a completely DIFFERENT story about what happened to the tire, and when I corrected him with the TRUTH he gave me a major attitude! Seriously? We will NEVER spend another penny at Big John's, and I seriously advise you to find another tire store that DOES offer extended warranties on their tires, and treats you with courtesy and respect! read more

Got the 4"lift on my new Tundra w wheels and tires about 6mos ago (finally joined yelp nation). I'm not a gearhead so I was really relying on the knowledge of the staff to help select the right choice to make my rig look and perform good. Every time I went in the guys were super cool and helpful. No "we're so hardcore we don't have time for you" attitude at all. We looked at pics of other trucks, reviewed options and they patiently answered my "are you sure" questions and concerns. Also never had to wait long when in store. Truck turned out fantastic and inspired my friend to take his Dodge to go get the same treatment. Before my Tundra, the guys at BJ Perf fixed up my Tacoma w the same excellent service and quality. I'm a pretty discriminating customer, and it's rare for me to be completely satisfied, but I really give these guys props. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
