We stopped in to try the new local joint. The smell inside is misleading. We had the pulled pork sandwich and brisket meal. Both with potato salad and mashed potatoes and brown gravy.
The BBQ sauce is good, not sure if made in house or bottled. The sides really needed salt, like lots of it. I never salt my food, but wow. A little pepper also improved things greatly. When asked for recommendations, we said use salt and we're given an excuse that the food is unseasonably for people with high cholesterol. Ummm....
What I find very funny is that on the menu, they talk about the importance of a smoke ring. My brisket had neither the ring, nor the smoke. As someone else said above, there was unrendered fat. My plate likened that of roast beef than smoked brisket. I'll give them another shot, but my expectations will be low so hopefully they improve. read more
