I was hanging out in Helena for a couple of weeks and needed a good cup of coffee. I didn't have to look too far to find this gem. They have a great variety, and the coffee I had was really good. I also ordered the skillet breakfast, which was incredibly tasty, and left with some cookies that I absolutely loved. The space was open and airy, featuring a nice mixture of booths and chairs. My food was served quickly and hot. If you need coffee in Helena, definitely give this place a try! read more

Delicious food and baked goods! Beautiful open space that is designed well. Caprese sandwich was not worth the cost as there were only 2 small tomato slices, lots of cheese, and barely any pesto. It was difficult to tell if there was even any pesto on the sandwich. Felt more like a grilled cheese than a Caprese. Due to the taste of the food I would give this place another shot. read more

I love the Vanilla Bean! The space is cute and also large; menu is extensive also. I really like their coffee selection and iced cold brew is very tasty. Their quiches are so good and types rotate in terms of flavors. Also their breakfast burritos are grilled; have a nice browning to them and a slight buttery crunch on the outside, Those types also rotate. They have a variety of baked goods from cakes, cupcakes, cookies - everything looks amazing. I will try their baked goods one of these days! But go for the coffee and a small breakfast. We came here to pick up a small birthday cake for my niece. It's a small bakery with a few tables if you're looking to eat there. Their menu not only consists of cakes and pastries, they also have sandwiches and coffees. We did get a raspberry vanilla cake. Although very pretty, it was a bit dense and the buttercream was more like swiss buttercream which tends to be more buttery in texture and our nieces were not fans of that. It is a nice little shop and perhaps their cupcakes and pastries are better or perhaps a different cake would be better. read more

Very nice local bakery in Helena, MT. They've got a good variety of sweet treats, from cookies to cannolis. The shop is cozy, warm, and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the baked goods are delicious! If you are wanting to feed a crowd, keep in mind that this is a very small shop, and they don't carry much inventory. Our first experience here was a positive one. One thing that stood out to me was their lawful COVID policies. It did not discriminate against those who were unable to wear a face covering. This is a cute little bakery, coffee/ restaurant. The shop is kept clean and tidy. It's very open and even has a garage door for warm weather. Breakfast muffins and pastries are the best. Cupcakes are decorated fancy but the cake part is a bit dry. I gave three stars for the atmosphere and the coffee. Staff there isn't the best. They don't offer assistance to quickly and there were a number of people working. I didn't feel they were very friendly. read more

I went back after they changed locations and had a much better experience! My lunch was great and I had a chocolate cupcake that was seriously to die for. I also picked up a little cake for my friends birthday and that was amazingly delicious as well. This is now one of my very favorite places in town and I am glad I tried again. read more

This is certainly the best bakery I've encountered in any state! Everything from the hot sandwiches to the whoopie pies and the daily soup are delicious. The fleur de sel cake is exquisite. quiche is amazing. Even the espresso is worthy. I would order a wedding cake or just a pan of brownies from the Vanilla Bean. Prices are reasonable and I always enjoy supporting a local business. However, the service is terrible; unfriendly staff are often standing around or washing dishes while there is a line. I am rarely even greeted with a hello, certainly never a smile, and I've been a dedicated customer who has brought the Vanilla Bean residual business from my friends, family, and colleagues . It is often hectic and unorganized during lunch rush, I've even had to give my order twice on several occasions. But overall, you can't miss the delicacies found at the Vanilla Bean Bakery! read more

But again the flavor was just lacking for some reason. We ended up taking half of our food home with us which is NEVER a good sign. I might give this place another shot on a different day. Also, the coleslaw on the chicken sandwich had no flavor which made the sandwich even less impressive. Nothing to see here in my opinion.

They could do a lot better having more staff and focusing and speed and accuracy of service. I'd recommend Great Harvest bakery or Grateful Bread instead if you're looking for a local place.

The crepes itself are pretty dry.. The batter is much thinner than a normal crepe and mine came out very crisp, especially around the edges. Very similar to the "body of Christ" type of texture lol... I ordered a Berry, whip and added Nutella to the crepe. It came out with the berry blend and the whip with cute sprinkled but there was ZERO nutella or any form of chocolate that I paid for in it.. I could have asked for some but they seemed SO overwhelmed. There was only around 4 tables that were occupied so I am not sure where the urgency was coming from. The coffee here was delicious. I ordered a iced latte and it came out quickly with a lot of love. My partner on the other hand ordered a Matcha and it was pretty bad. He ended up throwing it away, not even an eighth of the drink was consumed... I believe the Matcha they use in their drinks is of baking quality. It was a bit clumpy and did not blend well. Not being too harsh on this as I know some ingredients are harder to source out here... It's a HARD pass on the Matcha. I want to give 2 stars but I am giving 3 because their latte was that good. Note I wouldn't particularly recommend coming here unless you're OK with "just OK" crepes.

I had a gift card to spend and I was ready to get some bagels for my family. So I explained I had never been there before and I was choosing bagels and adding everything up to equal the gift card value, and then I experienced the MOST amazing kindness from Kenzie, one of the girls behind the counter. When I finished, she said the total was $30.95, and I said oh no, the card was only for $25, and Kenzie said "Don't worry, I can take care of the difference", and I thought wow cool, she'll adjust the price or whatever, and I went to get some water. When I turned around I saw her pull her own card from her purse and stick it in the card machine to pay the additional $5.95!!! So I was like OMG! I didn't want you to pay for part of my purchase!! So I gave her some cash, but I was absolutely blown away by her kindness towards me by being willing to cover nearly $6 of my purchase! It was truly amazing and unbelievable, and Kenzie went above and beyond and she deserves recognition and praise for her huge heart. Not just that but I left with a dozen bagels and between me and my family, there's only 4 left by this evening. They were delicious. Also there was a nice soda machine and some cute tables to sit and eat. Good job Kenzie, and good job the Bagel Co for making great bagels, and hiring amazing people with a generous heart of Gold. I definitely recommend this place!
