Two different days, two VERY different experiences when it came to service, but thankfully the food was amazing both times. The first visit was perfect from beginning to end. Amazing service, great food, and just an overall great experience. The second visit... well, that was a little more challenging. The lady taking our order had quite the attitude. I'm sorry, but if dealing with customers annoys you that much, maybe working in a restaurant isn't the best choice. And then, on top of the attitude, the order got messed up. Mine came out right, but unfortunately my sister's didn't. I had the lamb kabab with rice and salad both times, and it was SO good! My sister had the shish tawook the first time as a plate and the second time as a sandwich. The restaurant itself is really nice with a beautiful Middle Eastern vibe, and it is HUGE! I can totally see how they transform the space into a banquet hall for parties and weddings. So, one amazing service experience and one not-so-amazing one ... but the food? That was good enough to bring me back before I even left Ottawa, so I think that says it all! I will be back next time I am in Ottawa!

A work colleague first introduced me to Cozmos saying that they have amazing Greek food. I'm glad…read morethat he did because their food quality, portions, and pricing can't be beat when it comes to Greek food in Ottawa. I always order the Lamb Souvlaki Platter with 2 sticks of lamb. I like that you can specify meat doneness, since I like my lamb medium rare. The platter comes with rice, potatoes, Greek salad, tzatziki sauce and pita bread. I always order an additional tzatziki sauce and another pita bread because they're very good and make perfect leftovers for lunch the next day. Everything about the Lamb Souvlaki Platter is perfect in my opinion and I especially love their potatoes. They are always crispy on the outside and soft on the inside! They pack the included pita right on top of the souvlaki and potatoes in the same container and I love the flavour the pita absorbs from them. You need to try this platter if you haven't before. I keep taking out-of-town family here for Greek food because it's worth experiencing. Something also worth mentioning is that Cozmos has a good online ordering system that makes it super easy to order ahead and pick up at a specific time. I recommend ordering online to save the time you would otherwise spend waiting after ordering in person, as they are often pretty busy.

For us modest appetites, this is easily 3 meals - easily! We ordered 2 plates and a sandwich for 4 people and still had enough leftovers for a small breakfast the morning after. My personal favorite was the mixed shawarma plate. I love how it comes with pita made specifically for Shawarma Palace, rice, potatoes, salad, pickled veg, and the meat. We also got the mixed kabob plate which featured tender beef but the chicken kabob was just a hair bit dry. The falafel sandwich was actually very dry and I would not recommend this. We also picked up some baklava for dessert after and I liked how it was just sweet enough! You can taste the pistachios and I thought the kiss of rose water was just enough to make the bite memorable!

My husband got the chicken and beef platter. It came with rice, salad, potatoes, hummus, garlic sauce, and a sesame dressing. Everything was so fresh and the flavor was just out of this world. We got a pita on the side and made our own wraps. The platter works for two people, maybe even 3. Depends on how hungry you are. They give you a generous portion. We walked in and there was only one other customer. And then after we sat down sooooooo many people filed in. The restaurant is very clean and lots of room to sit inside. The employees are very friendly and they do not skimp on the sauces or the meat. We were thoroughly satisfied and can't wait to return for another vacation in Canada.

So when we decided to come to Ottawa for a quick getaway, of course we had to pop in for some food. Our server couldn't possibly have been nicer or more friendly, and the vibe was exactly what I wanted it to be. We decided to share a Caesar Salad and a Philly Steak Poutine, the latter of which our server invented himself decades ago! Both dishes were phenomenal. The salad was hearty and rich, and the poutine was as decadent and cheesy as you'd hope. The meat was plentiful and tender, and the whole thing was just so delicious and well assembled. I'm very happy that Elgin Street Diner hasn't lost a step all these years later.

Boustan is a chain from Montreal that sells Lebanese food. It has over 40 locations. I am certain…read morethat I had shawarma sandwiches at a Boustan in my university days in Montreal. It was before I was on Yelp and before I was "into" food as much as I am now, lol. This location on Rideau St is the first and currently only location in Ottawa. It's where Gabriel Pizza used to be and it opened in March 2022. I was browsing deals on UberEats and saw that Boustan was having a BOGO deal: $9.99 for a small beef or chicken shawarma sandwich. Man, I remember when $9.99 for 2 shawarma sandwiches was just the regular price, but now it's actually considered a deal. Anyway, I figured why not pick up a couple of shawarma sandwiches for my husband and I after work for dinner and we don't have to cook. So that's exactly what I did. I opted for the beef, and asked them to hold the onions. The sandwich was actually quite good. It had a decent amount of beef in it and the beef was tender and tasty and not gristly nor fatty, which I appreciated. It came with shredded cabbage, pickled turnips and tomatoes. I actually prefer the shredded cabbage here over the shredded lettuce at most other places. It keeps its crunch better and gets less soggy. There was also garlic sauce which wasn't overpowering. The pita was nicely toasted too. And the size was good, not too puny. I was impressed. Pickup was quick. It was ready when the app said it was, which was about 10-15 minutes from the time I ordered. Staff were friendly. I would return to try other items. They have Saj bread, which I love. Street parking only. There are paid parking lots nearby too.

So just look for the Quickie and once you're inside you'll see the Meatheads in the corners. It's takeout only. Nowhere to sit and eat. Although they do have a couch to sit and wait. And wait you will, it took us over 30 minutes for our food. Lots of people phoned in their order or came in to order and left and came back. We just waited there, but we might phone in our order next time. I got the Kickin' Chicken Sandwich ($10) and made it a combo with fries and a can of pop (+$2). My mom got the Orleans Cheese Steak Sandwich ($15) and made it a combo with a poutine and a can of pop (+$4). My chicken sandwich was delicious. It was 2 pieces of breaded chicken tenders tossed in a spicy sauce on a bed of coleslaw, in a brioche bun. The menu said it comes with lettuce and tomatoes, but for some reason my sandwich was missing these ingredients. It was still really tasty, but I would have liked the extra vegetables. My fries overall were good, but some fries were kind of dry and hard. I enjoyed my mom's poutine a lot more because the cheese and gravy made the hard fries softer. Although the gravy tasted a bit fattier than I like, lol. I also had some of my mom's cheese steak and it was good too. It had cheese, mushrooms, onions, and pickles, in addition to the thinly sliced steak mixed in BBQ sauce. The bread was a bit like a baguette in density, which I liked because it didn't get soggy. I like how the containers were made of cardboard and are biodegradable. No styrofoam, yay! Service was friendly. The owner chatted with us a little. He is looking at opening a restaurant, as they are very busy and have pretty much outgrown their set up inside of the Quickie. His fiancee taking our orders was nice as well. Looking forward to trying their other items. They have specials not on their regular menu sometimes too. On the day we went it was fish and chips. Lots of free parking in the Quickie parking lot.

I was the only customer being served and was told it would take between 5-10 minutes which was a good sign as that meant it was being freshly cooked. It was worth the wait the burger was juicy and delicious. The portion sizes are very generous, the combo comes with medium-sized and I found that size to be more than enough. I could not finish the fries, which I should add were not instant fries that most fast food places serve, but fresh fries. The cook that served me was friendly and the kitchen was following COVID protocols. It is a small kitchen running out of a small store so it is only takeout or delivery but there are some tables outside which in normal times you could eat at. If you are in Orleans and looking for a good burger then I recommend this place, they also have wings which I am tempted to try.
