A local gem. Very friendly staff that is always congenial and happy to have a chat with you. The fried chicken is good here but the sides can be touch and go. They have a drive-through if you were in a hurry. Very good tea and the service is very quick you can get in and out of this place as quick as you can a McDonald's but obviously the food is less processed and much better tasting. This place is also good if you want a bucket of chicken. You can get all dark or all white meat.

What surprise in Eufaula! Southern style buffet with great food made from scratch! I am so glad we stopped on our way home from Florida. Everything was so good and they were busy. I had the fried chicken which there are 2 kinds, the darker crust was crispier. Of course they had chicken livers! Fried catfish was awesome, collard greens, black eye peas, potato casserole, etc. And end it with peach cobbler! There are still other choices I have not listed. The map directions through Yelp did not get us there. I had to use Google. If you are looking for a taste of the South go here.

You're insane to not do the buffet if you've got the time!

The service here is a little weird and jarring at first. I hadn't gone more than 10 feet through…read morethe door when I was asked "What'll you have to drink?" You just have to know the procedure, but it wasn't only me, a Northerner whose brain hadn't yet fully recalibrated for the local accent. Locals were confused too. Procedure is this: tell them your drink preference (I had water), pick up a tray, put it on the counter, pick out a main, three sides, a dessert, slide it down to the register, pay, and take it to your table. At that point do you begin eating? No! Remove your items from the tray and they come by and pick it up. Now begin! You may be thinking "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld but I assure you it didn't feel that way. Just the quirky way they run the place. The waitress did warm up after I was there a while, came over to ask where I was from, etc. And to try to convince me to come back for breakfast! This is cafeteria style, with everything prepared ahead of time and kept warm on steam trays. So how do they keep that fried chicken so crunchy and delicious? Perhaps the best I've ever had, the batter so crunchy you could probably hear me eating from another room, assertively peppery, the large leg and thigh pieces perfectly cooked and juicy. (White meat also available.) My sides were lima beans, turnip greens, and yams. The highlight was the yams: super sweet but not in a bad way, balanced by good seasonings. The beans were fine, a bit salty. The only disappointment were the turnip greens, too finely chopped and overcooked. The portion sizes were decent. Also included is corn bread. Two choices: baked or fried. Never heard of fried so I tried that. Interesting but a little chewy and not so much corn flavor; next time I'd get the baked. Finishing this rather large lunch was a challenge for me but I managed, while taking in the local ambience. I saved the dessert for later. Dessert? Yes. I was also asked on ordering what I wanted for dessert. The only one that appealed was the red velvet cake (the others were a cobbler and bread pudding) so I got that. I assumed it was included but when I paid I saw it was not. $4; no big deal. It didn't look that good, a thin 1 inch slice tightly shrink wrapped on a paper plate. Looks were deceiving. The first time I actually liked red velvet cake, a light crumbly texture and cream cheese frosting that tasted of more than sugar. With the amount of frosting this tiny slice was quite filling and I'm glad it wasn't larger. All this for a little over $21. I think this was including tip but I'm not positive. Either way, great deal!

Small menu, friendly staff who will answer your questions and chat with you - they know their regulars by name. Decent size venue to sit down and eat in (order at the counter, they'll come serve) or you can always drive through. Food: I asked, and it was confirmed: The chicken fingers are not that big. You could easily order 12 fingers and then still add on sides. Crisped to order (or grilled was offered up front, which was very thoughtful), very tasty, plenty of sauces to choose from (note: even x-hot isn't THAT hot), but size matters. Mozz sticks in the platter are standard fare. Potato munchers also a bit small for your money. Potato, either American or cheddar cheese, maybe some peppers chopped in - but sadly not much flavor. Finally, I swapped potato salad for the fries. Good stuff, meatless for those who care (though what you'd order here if you're a vegetarian, I'm not sure - only a couple of the apps would count). Still a good value for your money, supports a local business and its local workers, so I bring my recommendation in opening and closing this review.

After 5 months of anticipation, we finally got Jacked. Let's start at the beginning. A very nice employee held the door for us and said that she was glad to have us here. Even though she was lying, it felt like the truth. The decor is what I would call "fast food chic." It's caught in a crisis between looking like an old Jack in the Box and a new Arby's. There's a definite identity crisis going on in the visual brand of Jacks, and it could use a more unique facelift. The tile on the walls is, crucially, not dirty, but it was definitely giving the essence of dirt. The dining room reeks of smoke. The fireplace was a nice touch (big first date vibes), but unfortunately unlit in the summer. I will edit this review in the winter, should that be remedied. Only one sink in the bathroom made for an awkward experience, but I'm willing to blame this one on my own lack of social awareness, rather than the resturaunt. My friend could not pronounce the town name, "Eufaula". She kept calling it "Euphanism". I am unsure of how this impacts the restaurant experience. Onto the food. Chili dogs were back. Alas, we went for breakfast, and I didn't quite have an 8am chili dog in me. I ordered a coffee, a cup of white milk (basically ice. Don't ask), the hashbrowns, and two chicken biscuits, adding egg and cheese for each. One of the biscuits was missing the cheese. I paid 60 cents for that cheese. The coffee is dirt water, but it'll get the job done. Crucially, it wasn't burnt, and was served with a smile. It is in this section where I would typically tell you what I thought of the hashbrowns. However, I do not know what I thought of them, as I never recieved them. I waited and waited and waited, and yet, no hashbrowns. So you will have to be content with what my friend thought of them. And I quote, "the hashbrowns get seated down in my mouth. They were, in a word, bad. I have nothing more to say on the matter. However, the ranch that I dipped them in was surprisingly dilly." The first chicken biscuit was just ok. It wasn't quite hot, and the cold, sterile slab of American cheese did little to improve the experience. The egg was an egg. Onto the second biscuit. This time, the chicken was more than just lukewarm - I'd go so far as to call it fresh. Perhaps the lack of cheese was a gift, for that second biscuit was much better. Piping hot, just crispy enough. This was perfection in every bite. The cheese was not missed (unlike my 60 cents). The chicken was well-seasoned. When I went to lick my fingers and not use a napkin, I was very pleasantly surprised. Even the wounds in my fingers enjoyed the salt from my biscuit. To summarize, the food was good but it makes me question what my future holds. As I'm writing this, I am still waiting on my hashbrowns.
