It resembles a church hall where you would go following service, so quite cozy. The workers were extremely sweet, professional and attentive. So that part was all good. Now the food! So we ordered oxtails, collards and Mac and cheese along with turkey wings, yams and rice. I was shocked at the oxtail portion as well as the quality of the collards. (I eat ALOT of veggies and I swear they tasted like spinach) and if they were collards, they were completely and throughly overcooked. The Mac and cheese had flavor but was very dry. And the rice was simply rice smothered in a cup full of gravy. The wings had a strange taste to them but maybe it was the seasoning used. Yams were just ok nothing special and again, the soupy rice! (LOL) The thing is that the people who work there are soooo nice. It's hard to give this place an unkind review. But, they need to make some flavor profile upgrades. And if oxtails are too expensive, then take them off the menu or adjust your price because serving 2 oxtails and 1 micro bone in the corner does not equate to $17.00. That dish was just all wrong. We talked about whether or not we would go back and give the place a second chance....not really sure. Maybe it was a bad day? It was clear that the community loves them by the way patrons gave shout outs and genuine smiles as they entered the restaurant.
