Todays Menu at Old Town Coffee (5/22/24). They rotate their menu each week!
Imo O.

Closely following Big G's BBQ on Instagram for weeks and I was blessed to find them two times in one week! Once at the Taste of Santa Barbara and another at Old Town Coffee! Big G's personally has the best tacos in Santa Barbara PERIOD! Their Smoked Carintas Tacos CANNOT BE BEAT. At the Taste of Santa Barbara, their booth had the longest line and I got back in the line multiple times. Later that week, I visited their pop-up at Old Town Coffee and was blown away yet again from their Carnitas and Chicken Tortas. AMAZING! Though I have only had a few of their meats, I have been told their Tri-Tip is to die for. I cannot wait to try it! Be sure to follow them on Instagram to see their rotating menu and pop-up locations: @big_gsbarbecue ! They are just an amazing small family owned business that I hope to see more often in the Santa Barbara area because they deserve all of the love and more! Can't wait to see you all again soon! Thank you Gabriel and Misha!

Chili beans with tri-tip bowl.

I went to this social event and Big G's Barbecue was in da house feeding the ppl. I wasn't in the mood for something heavy, and filling. So I explained to the nice girl that took my order. She recommended the chili beans (which I'm a big fan of) I asked if I could add tri-tip and with a smile she said yes. After a few minutes of waiting I got this very nice portion sized bowl. Just from the look of it I knew I was in for a treat. The chili beans were on point no cap. It also had some chopped up hotdogs which I never had before with chili beans. It was delicious. But I can't forget the tri-tip. It had a really good smoky flavor. Nice and tender wasn't over or under cooked. It was just right. Especially since the chili beans and tri-tip was mixed together it gave it so much more flavor. I added a little bit of their bbq sauce to the bowl and it gave it so much more flavor. It was the perfect kind of sweetness. You can tell the food was made with love. Sorry for the picture quality. This was a nite time event.

My daughter's quincienera has been the most important celebration to date for us- believe me when I say a lot of research was done for every aspect of this party- everything had to be perfect! Needless to say Big G's Barbecue provided an amazing meal and exceptional service. From the start, Gabriel worked with us to build the perfect menu to accommodate dietary preferences of all our guests- and there was not ONE bad review in the house! On the contrary, it's been months and people still comment on how delicious the food was, how friendly the servers were and want to know when the next party is! He also helped tremendously by not only providing the table settings, but setting up the tables for us on the big day. The set up was beautiful and the time this saved us was priceless! If you're on the fence about who to go with for your next event, take this as a sign! The food is truly delicious- 5 star restaurant delicious, and on top of that the whole team is amazing! Highly recommend!

Tried one of the most talked about BBQ spots in Santa Barbara and ordered the 2 meat combo with tri…read moretip and beef rib. It came with a huge chunk of bread, baked beans, and two sides. We went with double macaroni salad. The tri tip ended up being our favorite. It was juicy, tender, and packed with smoky flavor. We were actually more excited for the beef rib, hoping it would be super juicy and fall off the bone tender, but it didn't quite hit that expectation. It was still flavorful, just a little tougher than we hoped. The half and half sauce also had more spice than we personally prefer. The baked beans were delicious and paired really well with the meats. The only side that fell a little flat for us was the macaroni salad because it could definitely use a bit more flavor and dressing. Also taking off one star because the silver skin on the ribs should've been removed for a cleaner bite. That said, for the portion size and quality of food, the price was honestly very affordable. You definitely get a lot of food for what you pay for, which makes it a great BBQ spot if you're hungry and want something satisfying without spending too much. Overall, still a solid BBQ stop in Santa Barbara and definitely worth trying if you're craving smoked meats.

We ordered a side of coleslaw and think they gave us beans and rice complementary which was super nice. Just wished the food was better. The tri-tip was ok however the pork and the beef ribs were way overcooked. They were soo dry. They minced the cabbage for the coleslaw to nothing. It was just mush drenched in a thin liquid. The flavor was lacking and texture was someone I couldn't get over. The beans themselves were cooked just right, however there was 0 flavor. It tasted just like they just boiled the beans in water. As if they forgot they need to add seasonings at the minimum. The rice was cooked well. When outside I didn't smell any smoke so I don't think they cook the meat onsite, which most likely contributes to the over cooked meats when they reheat. The bathroom was clean. The prices are comparable for BBQ. If you like your meat well done, then come, but for me this a total pass.

Cold Spring Tavern is a small stop located off of the main road, tucked away in the rolling hills, and is hiding some really good tri-tip sandwiches. We got the tri-tip sandwich with a side of potato salad, onion rings, and the three chili sampler. The tri-tip sandwich is loaded with meat, and is really good with the horseradish and barbecue sauce. The onion rings were massive and incredibly crispy and delicious. The chili is a must order item as well! It's fun to have more unconventional proteins like wild game meat.  It's a nice area with lots of shaded outdoor seating. There are a few bugs, but nothing to do about that other than deal with it. With a cold beer it's not too bad. We got super lucky with parking so got to park right in their lot, but have heard that people park a ways down the road and have to walk a couple yards to get in, so try to go during non-peak lunch hours.

I did put some creamed horseradish on a couple of bites. My wife had the 3 chile samplers. Stage Coach, 3 game chile, and the chlle verde. All excellent. I upgraded my side to the 3 game chile. It cost a bit more, but worth it. Afterwards, check out the place and the surrounding forest area.

That flat tire was definitely a blessing in disguise because without it, we wouldn't have found this incredible spot! This place is located in a business complex, and from the outside, it looks like a quaint little place, but the moment you walk in, it is HUGE! Tons of seating, a pool table, and outdoor patio. It's even dog friendly! Such a hidden gem. Not only that, but the food was INCREDIBLE! We tried everything on the menu, and we were all blown away. Each of my friends had a different favorite, which means that there's something for everyone, and I'm still drooling just thinking about it. Haha It's hard to pick favorites, but I especially loved the ribs and tri tip sandwich. The staff was SUPER friendly and took their time explaining the menu to us. They made us feel like close friends rather than customers. It's been awhile since I left a review for anything, but I knew I needed to give this place one because they deserve all the hype. I'll definitely make my way down here next time I am in the Santa Barbara area.
