Back in November, we were able to get away to the Catskills for a rustic fall birthday adventure…read moreweekend, and the Brewery was one of our many highlights, most notably because we lucked into their Saturday paint and sip, the Gnome Way. We had a packed itinerary for the day, but this was directly in our sights so we had to stop in. Just up the road from the main drag through Livingston Manor, it's got a working-farm vibe with updated and sleek equipment. There was no hesitation from the bartender to fold us right into the action, and I'm not a painter, but it was really fun for me to step outside my comfort zone and get crafty while enjoying the company of some really cool people. We had our complimentary pour along with the paint and sip price, and I remember the Oktoberfest (fiance got the sour) being a great, hearty, fall classic that set the tone for the rest of our busy day. They have a nice selection of gear at their gift shop, and their logo'd brown striped retro beanie is on my head as we speak; it's my favorite winter hat. I rarely buy merch while on vacation, for a variety of reasons, but the price was right on most of their items out for display.

Cool little brewery and atmosphere I always find them a fun stop…read more The beer was ordered inside and the outside had a food truck with pretty decent options. You really can't go wrong. Everyone is nice and polite and the beer and food is tasty. We spent most of our time playing ping pong and contemplating corn hole. 3.7 stars.

The hotel itself is cozy, full of charming little spaces, and we truly felt pampered throughout our stay. It's pet-friendly (huge plus!), and everyone was incredibly kind to my dog--he had the best time exploring the hiking trails with me. The vibe is very relaxed, peaceful, and the perfect place to disconnect from the world. Now for the real star of the show: the food. We did the tasting menu and it was so good. I loved the intention behind each dish and how they highlighted seasonal ingredients and the local farm sources. My personal favorites were the mushroom dish and the venison--both were phenomenal. The staff was warm, attentive, and did a great job walking us through each course. A few small observations: The dining room was a little too dark--I love seeing my food, especially when it's so beautifully presented. Since it was my birthday, I expected a bit more than a lone candle. No cookie, treat, or even a candle placed on top of dessert--it just didn't feel special. Dessert wasn't for me. It was somewhere between a milkshake and ice cream, but with a strange mochi-like texture and an overpowering amount of lavender. It felt like eating soap. The quail course tasted amazing, but the presentation wasn't appealing. It looked a bit messy, and leaving the head on (even though it wasn't edible) felt off. That said, everything was incredible--thoughtfully crafted, delicious, and visually stunning. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite and the whole experience. Highly recommend--can't wait to return!

This review is for the restaurant only…read more Made a reservation for dinner on a weeknight. My party of 4 was a little early, so we had a drink in the tavern downstairs first; bartender made a great whisky sour. For dinner, we did the a la carte menu. I tried: + Cabbage + Ricotta toast + Grilled broccoli + Mangalista pork chop + Ricotta dumpling + Cheeseburger + Spiced cake The highlights were the cabbage, pork chop and burger. Overall I thought the food was excellent, though I wished they offered sides (especially some type of a potato for the burger). Would have gladly paid for additional sides a la carte.
