As you're driving up ...the old silk mill that houses a mall and the brewery!
Daniel B.

Located in a very interesting bluestone building that was a silk mill in the late 1800s, Hopping Eagle has a small but welcoming space downstairs with a few tables, a corner area for performers and a nice bar area with attentive staff. Sample whatever you'd like here - no problem! Flights are a great way to get acclimated to their variety of brews and they will take the time to explain the ingredients in each beer. Really cool place! Definitely check them out when you're in the beautiful Lake Wallenpaupeck area. Check out some of the cool shops upstairs too - there's a local art gallery and glass shop, aromatherapy and a host of other little shops. Great find!

Mostly IPAs and lagers, this place is a hidden gem in the Hawley area. When you walk in, it smells like wheat and beer. Plenty of seating and you can fast a bit of everything for super cheap. This flight was $12!

Really good environment! Great service and delicious beer! Really enjoyed the pineapple coconut peregrine (it was very limited)!! Definitely recommend, also dog friendly

Entry. Beautiful space!!

Great new spot! They have some great IPAs. No food. Gorgeous reclaimed tables. High and low tables. Nice bar. Friendly servers. They have local three Hammers Wines. Yummy! In the old silk mill which seems to be making a Come back. Worth the visit!

Brewery located in the Hawley Silk Mill. Follow the road down to left and pass the brewery for parking. Good beers. I like the blonde ale. My friends were impressed with the Just Hopping ale. I like the unpretentious vibe about this place. The crowd is mostly adults and doesn't have young children running around like some other larger breweries. Nice decor and a decent amount of seating. Great addition to the area!

Came in for our first time and Jimmy behind the bar was absolutely awesome! He asked us what we normally drank and paired us up with a perfect beer. The beers we had were just incredible. All of them were high quality with great ABV percentages. The atmosphere is very chill and casual. They do 5, 12, 16 oz pours on the beers. Ronnie the brew maser has made some fantastic beers. I highly recommend stopping in and trying out this great brewery.

Great beer and very nice setting! Nota large space. Bartenders were pleasant and helpful. Very dog friendly! All the beers were great but I loved the two ipas on tap. Got one to go.

snacks during covid times & great beer, no complaints!

this please was great! cant beat the cute little snacks they give you because you have to have food with every drink purchase, beer was awesome, and you cant beat the cutest dog in the world that you get to see when you're there!! 11/10 highly recommended

Fun detail of the flight holders featuring the same materials as the bar

Really cool new brewery in the old Silk Mill. The space has a very unique design featuring an industrial feel. They have a variety of different delicious brews, with my favorite being the Tawny Owl Brown Ale. The bartenders, who were actually the owners, were very friendly and helpful. I already can't wait to head back again. Support you local craft brewers!!!!!

Great brewery! I like it far more than Wallenpaupack Brewing. It's more comfortable and the beer is much better quality. I tried Uncle Phil's DIPA and the Cocoa Porter. Both we fantastic. Definitely glad we stopped by.

Beer flight. Delicious!

Great beer, intimate warm atmosphere. One of the best micro-breweries I've ever been too.

I actually hate to give this 4 stars because the beer, food, and venue is 5+ stars. The service…read morehowever was abysmal. The child that was serving us did not tell us that the kitchen was closing at 7:30pm on a Thursday and we could not order any food past this time. We tried to order an additional round of food at 7:40 and were told we could not. Thankfully, at that time we asked how to order takeout beer and they told us we better hurriedly go up to the main counter since it was last call for takeout beer as well. When we went to order crowlers of the beer that was not available for takeout in cans, the "bartender" audibly sighed before telling us each one would take 5 minutes to complete. Again, beer was great, food was great - shoutout to the kitchen for the curry ketchup specifically - front of house is hurting your business.

The lady came over and she said she was gonna comp my meal. I told her she didn't have to do that because I did eat the spaghetti, or atleast my son ate the spaghetti, so she gave me twenty percent off or at least she said she did, on my receipt, It says fifteen percent off. $2.70 off. Yeah, I don't think we're coming back here. I should have took the full comp off the meal. I was trying to be fair but in the end, I feel it wasnt fair at all. There was a whole piece chicken that wasn't cuttable or chewable. I posted on my facebook and people replies that the food wasn't so good here. I'm actually shocked at my own experience. Because usually when a parking lot is always packed. It's a good sign.

The taproom inside feels cozy, and the two young women working were super sweet about getting us samples and drinks. Get the Endless Summer! It's a light, refreshing beer with the perfect hints of cucumber and watermelon and it is absolute heaven on a hot day. The lime lager was also excellent. We took our drinks and went out to the patio area under the tent where they were doing the pizza vending. There was a nice vibe in the air: a mix of folks and ages, but everyone just chilling and having a fun time. Bugs weren't too bad! The outdoor pizza set up is John's of Arthur Ave, which we have always had as to-go, but wow, they are bringing their A-game here with the outdoor ovens! The pizzas are INSANELY GOOD! Like, Razza-style impressive. We were seriously blown away because it's nothing like what we've had in the past from there. We ordered their white pie with ricotta and the "Bronx Bomber." DAMN. Perfect char and chew on the dough, and while we know that the ricotta on the first pie wasn't homemade, it practically tasted it. The BB pizza was outrageously delicious as well: loved the meat and banana peppers with the hot honey, which we're normally not a fan of, but it was perfect here. Cannot say enough good things about the pizza! Overall, a wonderful visit despite a heated conversation about world events at our table! Four very happy stars and we hope to have just as good of a visit next time, which will hopefully be soon.

It was founded by business partners Vince Benedetto, Justin Genzlinger, Joe Napoli, and Greg Pollock. Genzlinger is the CEO of the Settlers Hospitality Group while Benedetto is the founder and CEO of the Bold Gold Media Group. The two decided to team up when they saw that the space originally occupied by Irving Cliff Brewery was available. They teamed up with additional managing partners Pollock and Napoli; the latter owns a brewery in Atlantic City. Together they formed an LLC dubbed "D&H Brewing Company": a reference to the historic Delaware & Hudson Canal which used to run through Honesdale. The brewpub has a railroad theme which is an homage to Honesdale's rich railroad history. Many consider Honesdale to be the "birthplace of the American railroad". My family and I visited Runaway Train for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. We all love trains and we loved all of the railroad decor in the brewery; it almost felt like we were in an old train station. The historic train tracks right outside the brewery are the same ones that the "Stourbridge Lion" (the first locomotive to be operated in the United States) ran in 1829. After looking over the menu, I ordered the "Breakfast Burrito" (eggs, pico de Gallo, avocado and cheddar cheese in a wrap served with fries), my wife ordered the "Ranchero Salad" (crispy chicken, chopped lettuce, tomato, red onion, roasted corn, bacon, house made ranch dressing), our older son had the "Chicken Bites w/ Fries", and our younger son had the "Buttered Noodles" (penne pasta tossed in butter). We all enjoyed our choices. To drink, I ordered a beer flight that featured "Honesdale Rail Cream Ale", "Party On the Patio" (Lager w/ Lime), "Ticket To Ride" (Czech Pilsner), and "Day Tripper" (IPA). I think that the Cream Ale was probably my favorite of the bunch! Great food, great brews, great decor, and great service! We all give Runaway Train Brewhouse our seal of approval!
