Miami Lakes is becoming quite the little foodie town and not just steaks and burgers! Tucked away…read morein Main Street near what used to be the fountain and now just a planter is 1910 Restaurant. My ladyfriend and I heard about this spot through the Gram, earning a free mojito with our meal for signing up on their mailing list/ loyalty program. Speaking of service, our server was very friendly and great in timing with food recommendations and plating, even taking our picture. We came in last minute without a reservation, and were able to get a table for 2 next to the bar. They also have outside seating. Their menu is a fusion of various types of Spanish cuisines, and portions are generous. We shared various appetizers, a main & dessert and still had leftovers. As far as main course, their risotto with grilled chicken added was perfect! The chicken had a yummy slightly smoky flavor from the grill on a bed of rich, creamy rice. I believe I also tasted notes of Parmesan cheese. We also enjoyed crispy tostones, cheese balls (I skipped the crème sauce) and croquettes with a yummy pineapple sauce. Knowing that I'm a dessert fiend, I ordered the "1910 dessert": flambéed pistachio crepes with ice cream. Our waiter said they only light it up for birthdays and since her birthday was most recent..yes the staff sang for her. Highly recommend this spot for great dinner in Miami Lakes!

I was looking for a place in Miami that would serve fried fish and I saw from Xavier's photo that…read morethey had it but unfortunately when I was there the lady said they didn't have it. The lady up front who took my order does not speak English but she was nice enough to work with me. The store is very tiny, there's 10 tables that can seat 4 and a bar stool that can seat another 10. I came in on a Tuesday around noon expecting it to be full but it was moderate, at first there was only myself and these 3 ladies, but soon after people started to come in. They had the AC going so it wasn't hot as I thought it would be since everyone is crammed in there. So I wanted fried fish but I ended up with fried filet with yucca and coconut rice. The salad that came with the dish was just simply salad with Italian dressing. The yucca came out nice and hot but soon hardened, I think they should allow options such as french fries but I guess that's too American. The fish was banging hot, it was salty in some area but after squeezing the two limes on it, it wasn't so bad. Their coconut rice is amazingly good, I never had such thing but it was so sweet like plantain, it pretty much help balanced the saltiness of the fish. I also had the Colombiana kola which was pretty good. I paid a total of $14 plus tip for the entire lunch meal. Overall I would come back for more, just wish they would speak a little bit of english.
