Our first time here and it was absolutely amazing! We brought the kids and everyone loved it. The burgers and fries were so delicious .my daughter even said they tasted like they were 'made with love.' The service was excellent; the staff was so friendly, professional, and really welcoming to my family. As for the ambience, it's a perfect classic, old-school burger stand. It has a great 'mom and pop' vibe with outdoor seating that's perfect for a casual family meal. It is so rare to find a local spot that the whole family (from my 3-year-old to my 14-year-old) enjoys this much. We will definitely be back! read more

This place is on the on the side of the Hardy toll road. It's just outside seating, which as okay with me, the weather was nice and I had my dog. The service is really friendly. The food is great, especially the onion rings! The food takes a minute because they make a lot from scratch, like fresh banana in my chocolate milkshake. This burger spot has been open on this little Northside location forever! Driving by I was shocked to see it still open! We whipped in and it was like being a young man frozen in time!! The food is still great at great prices and the owners are friendly and fast! Every bite and the setting was just as it was 30 odd years ago! Truck stop joint in every way which is cool. Outdoor seating and a classic truck stop menu of burgers and fries and all that's related. I got the fish and chips dinner which is like the fish dinner but with strips I guess. Nicely battered and crispy. Those crinkle cut fries are good too. Also very crispy. Texas toast on the side. It's just toast actually. There's nothing on it. But goes with the vibe. Don't look for anything else around here this is it. Just the freeway and some neighborhoods and gas stations. Located off the tollway. There were a few people ahead of us. The wait to order and get food was about 20 minutes. We ordered the chicken nugget basket which includes fries and the nuggets, chili cheese burger with fries, chili cheese fries. This is a walk up burger stand. They do have seating out on the patio. We were sitting outside eating but the flies took over and we left to eat at home. I also ordered a hamburger. The burger patty was thin and it lacked flavor. Everything else was just ok. This is def a mom and pop place , Food was amazing and sooooooo crispy! The fries , the shrimp , the onion rings. I got the shrimp basket dinner This plate was $14 and some change , it was sooo good! You go to papas seafood and they charge you over $30 and not even a good quality compared to here. This is my go to spot from now on, so happy I gave them a try. This is a north side landmark. If you grew up in north Houston you should know this spot. It's down the street from Sam Houston High School and it's a great place for a homemade burger! Prices are very reasonable as you can get a burger and fries for under $6. These are the crinkle fries and they are cooked to perfection! Crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. All burgers come with the option of single meat or double and you are able to request your burger which ever way you like. I would also Recommend you try one of their shakes while you're there. I love the Chocolate banana shake. Not sure what they use for chocolate but it such a great taste and not too sweet. They use real bananas in the shake which gives you the perfect flavor! read more

I used to live in the area 26 years ago. The food is just as good as it was back then. The prices are amazing for the quality. Cheaper and better than any fast food place. I found this jewel back in 2020 based on a previous review. I was shocked how great it was for a Northside establishment. Don't get me wrong there are jewels all over this city. You just have to find them. As a result of my job I've had to find other jewels. Tonight I had a chance to visit again and ordered the shrimp dinner. Yeah it's fried but once in a while... I don't know where they source or how they do it... but they put restaurants charging 3x to shame!
