Moved from out of state to the Boise area. Had an appointment to have Big Boy Movers meet us at the home to help unload the truck. Even though we were running two hours late, BBM met us at the house to help us unload. They were unable to extend the time helping due to other jobs so I can't blame them for that. This review and five stars is more about the two young men who helped us; Gage and Trent. Both of them were polite and professional and KICKED @SS. These two guys hustled and unloaded a 26 foot truck packed to the gills in under 2 hours (with the help of my son-in-law) with my directing what furniture and boxes went where. Their work ethic is outstanding and they never rested or paused. Hats off to these fine guys! read more

Absolutely would not recommend this company. Originally contracted to move items out of my house so that flooring could be replaced and the interior painted while we were on vacation. During the load out, I watched and listened using the interior security camera as the two crew mocked the quality of our furnishings and the general cleanliness of the house. Every time they came back into the house, both were busy scrolling through their phones (this will be important later). When the time came to move things back into the house, our expectation would have been to have things in at least the same room they were in. Despite calling the company and asking them to have the crew (same two guys) wait, as we were almost home, when we arrived, it was very obvious that they were rushing to leave before we got there. We walked in to the house to find stuff literally everywhere, shoved into closets, placed in inappropriate locations, etc. As an example, one half of a china cabinet that belonged in the living room was in the master bedroom, and the other half was in a bedroom across the house. The crew rolled their eyes when we asked for a few simple things to be done, and then demanded payment. To make matters worse, I had to be admitted to the hospital the next day, and it was almost a week before I was able to get back into the house and discover additional issues. The power brick for my adjustable bed was missing, and the company attitude was, "well, we don't have it, so not our problem", forcing me to buy a replacement. As to the haphazard placement of items, the company stated, "We don't have photographic memories." No, but your workers had phones that they were obsessively checking that could have been used to (gasp) take pictures of room contents before unloading the house to use as reference when loading things back in. Then, salt in the wound, the company refused to acknowledge any responsibility for fixing anything, and had the gall to charge a guy with a leg injury and his disabled wife $200 for 30 minutes of work moving items around the house and back into the appropriate rooms. The whole vibe when getting that arranged was, "You weren't there during move in, sucks to be you." Since then, I have discovered that our furniture and belongings were not treated well (chips and dents on furniture, etc.) during either the move out, move in, or both. It's just not worth the hassle of dealing with this uncaring, predatory company to get compensation or even an apology for a horrible experience. If we could rate zero stars, we would. Stay away. The two men showed up spun out of their gords and I am missing 1/2 my electronics they refused to send an invoice they overcharged me to get my thing from them I had to pay 1000$ to get my things or they would not deliver the stuff they would store it for 500$ a day is what I understood I guess I learned my lesson on trying to have a couple of people move my things for me without watching them move my stuff I think for now on I will stay and watch I had a glass door and it was never brought with my stuff I'm thinking that I lost about $1000 in Electronics and half that in furniture read more

I used your company, Big Boys, to pack my moving van for a move from Idaho to Michigan. I wanted to write to you to describe my experience instead of being negative on social media. I know how it is to move. I've done in 8 times in the last 20 years. It pains me to tell you that this was the worst experience of all. Your employees, while very personable, were very young and did a poor job of loading. I had moved from California to Idaho in 2021 in the same size van as this time. We purged our belongings before moving this time and were told not all our belongings would fit. I had to have a hitch attached to my vehicle and rent a uhaul to accommodate the rest of my possessions, at an additional cost of $1000. Upon arriving in Michigan I was shocked at how the van was packed. It was a mishmash of items seemingly stuffed here and there without regard. My lazy boy was placed arms down directly on the bare floor with items stacked on top of it. The arms are black with filth. My dresser was destroyed, fragile boxes were smashed as heavier boxes were piled on top. Several pieces of furniture had large scrapes and scratches, my bedside lamp was destroyed, my refrigerator was dented and my washer had big black marks on the front. The people here to unload opened it and immediately called their boss to declare the state of the pack job and sent pictures so they would not be liable for the damage! They were appalled at the loose pack job. We had purchased tie downs for them to use but they just packed the boxes of them in the van after using a couple as garlands. The rest of my belongings would have easily fit if the van had been packed properly and I would not have had to encure further expense, not to mention having to replace several items of furniture. I am deeply disappointed and angered with this transaction. read more

Two to three stars. 1st the good. Big Boy was prompt, on schedule. Crews were hard working, respectful & tireless. Thanks to them. Big Boy quote for a 500 mile move for two vans was half that of the highest estimate in Boise. A popular mover in Boise (not Big Boy) that was highest bid also wanted a $3,100 fuel surcharge to move 500 miles. Gimme a break! Big Boy did not add a fuel surcharge. The not so good. Most of our furniture is 100 to 150 years old. Some older. We cautioned the crews but in hind sight not enough moving blankets were used to pad much of the furniture. The result, lots of dings, scrapes, dents, chips & scrapes. Lots of minor repairs & restoration necessary as a result. A couple will be difficult. There was no major damage. Happily none of the 100+ year old glass broke. Everything we had wrapped or boxed ourselves prior to the move came through without damage. Several years ago we had moved 1000+ miles out from the coast using several PODS that were professionally loaded. Nothing, nothing was damaged. It can be done.....more blankets & pads please. read more

Big boys movers were just what I needed. They did an excellent job of packing my belongings into two pods. They moved quickly and efficiently as I needed. I used another local company to move from Nampa to Meridian. That company was not efficient or timely. They made excuses for not being able to fit my furniture into the truck, but they did not pack the truck properly. My realtor offered to assist me in moving, though it was not his job. Kind man!! I wanted to put a good word in for Big Boy Movers. We sold our home and reserved a Saturday with Big Boy Movers. Our escrow didn't close so we had to reschedule with very short notice. Big Boy Movers rescheduled us for the following week on the day that we needed them. They were so nice and understanding, even though they lost a day of moving. Then the same thing happened again the next week and once again Big Boy Movers kept their composure and were very empathetic and tried to fit us on another day with an already full schedule. In the end, we weren't able to use Big Boy Movers but I wanted to applaud them on their fantastic customer service. read more

I hired these guys because they were cheaper than the rest. Never again will I go for cheap over professional. My first warning sign was that they showed up in a U-Haul. Then I caught each mover checking messages on their phone when they were supposedly out of sight. I purchased a large sofa that wouldn't fit through our front door, so two guys from a thrift shop figured out a way to get the sofa in through sliding glass doors. But these movers could not get it back out! I had to call a couple of neighbors who were able to figure it out in about 5 minutes. That was a waste of 30 minutes and at $60 an hour, plus what I had to pay the neighbors, They caused me to lose money. When they were moving furniture in, one item was a large desk and they told me it just wouldn't fit. I had to teach them how to get a piece of furniture like this, snaked around the door sideways. I am an artist and I had a set of drawers containing a couple of hundred die cuts. The set of drawers clearly had a top and a bottom, yet these movers placed it upside down in my living room. Now I have a big mess to clean up. I'm noticing dings in my furniture that weren't there before. I'd be willing to bet that they didn't use blankets to cover my furniture. read more

The day before our moving truck was to arrive, my driver had to move it one day later. I panicked because we had Big Boy Movers all scheduled. I called immediately to see if I could reschedule. They had no one available when my truck was to arrive. To make matter worse, my driver had a short window to unload and go to his next job. Well, after calling around I found no one. I called Big Boys back to see if they had anyone to recommend. Not only did they have someone else, they did the scheduling and it worked out perfectly. The company was flexible to work with my schedule and fit me in on the day I requested even though they were already booked out. I really appreciated this because we were eager to move into our new house and not stay another night in a hotel. I was moving across town (Idaho Falls) with not that much stuff. The people on the phone were really nice. Big Boy movers showed up almost a half hour late and only called a few minutes before scheduled to tell me. That wouldn't have been a big problem on it's own but they took two hours to just load 3/4 of my tiny 800 sqft apartment. In less time, my friends much more professional movers loaded their entire house included two couches and a piano. I called about 1.5 hours in to explain what was going on and Big Boys told me I had to pay them anyway for the two hours no matter what. The rest of their solution was for me to keep my movers there until finished, pay extra for the uhaul time (even though I paid for 4 hours instead of just the 2 I scheduled just in case..and that still wasn't going to be enough because they were late and slow), take a few more hours off of work and then they would MAYBE adjust the price at the end. Instead of two movers, I got a mover, someone "in training" , and his supervisor who mostly watched them and talked on the phone. Most of the time it looked like they were just hanging out or asking me what to load (uhm, the boxes?). I felt like I hired the neighborhood kids to move my stuff. I still was charged the same for a guy "in training" as I would have been for actual movers. So the 2-2.5 hour job lasted 4 hours and only because I fired Big Boy and had my friends' movers finish the job. In 45 minutes the other movers had changed out the old washer and dryer in my basement (it took 35 for BB to even get the other ones out of the house after a discussion on which one is the dryer), put the new ones in, and moved all my stuff to exactly where I wanted it in the new house. 45 minutes. It would have easily taken the BB movers another two or three hours at my expense. So I had to take a full day off of work and hire a second moving company after dealing with Big Boy for a whole morning. The Idaho Falls movers they contract are nice guys but completely incompetent movers. I'm filing a charge dispute with my bank as soon as the Big Boy charge clears. They've responded to my review elsewhere that I didn't disclose the washer/dryer pick-up location which isn't true. I asked about that the day I arranged for the movers. And the "extended location" they had to move the washer and dryer to my truck was across the street because they told me not to move the uhaul. By "plumbing issues" they mean my friends dealt with the small leak from the washer hook-up, not the movers. They also called the "supervisor" while I was standing there to tell him I was unhappy and then wondered why I didn't want them to continue the move and risk them breaking my stuff or not taking care with things because they were mad. What they still couldn't explain was why their movers took over twice as long for a job as other movers. read more

They figured out how to get an enormous Chesterfield leather sofa into the house when it wouldn't fit thru the front door (this entailed lifting it over a side gate and maneuvering it through a sliding glass door). Big Boy Movers was a third party mover tasked by Pack N Load to do the job. Pack N Load had written up a proposal to unload a piano and unpack two large PODS including re-assembling bedroom furniture and a dining room table. I was disappointed with the service that they performed. They were on a very tight schedule to do a Herculean task. At the request of the leader, I was told to start unwrapping the beds and frames (king including a vanity, queen, and twin), including the mattresses and dining room table, if I wanted them to be re-assembled after they unpack the PODS. I did complete the portion of the work that were supposed to be tasked to do. It took me many days to recover from the unwrapping of the shrinkwrap. While this was going on, the leader was always on the phone with his supervisor. Since they had only two people, it took them longer than expected. That day they were triple-booked. I was the first job of the day. To me, that creates unsafe decisions to be made by the mover and movee. It was supposed to take them 3 1/2 hours and ended up being 4 1/2 hours to do the job. I think if they had one more person, the move would have been better experience. I blame the either supervisor or dispatcher that did not understand the scope of unloading the two large PODS, not the two twenty-somethings tasked to do the job. They were not empathetic and I was double their age doing their job (unwrapping to keep up with them), a recent widow. I was very upset through this whole unloading process and they knew it. I would NOT recommend them for unpacking and packing because their management does not understand scope of their work to be done, and the amount of manpower to do the job safely and properly. read more

The crew did a professional job loading and unloading our whole house full of furniture plus a heavy compressor and tool boxes from my shop. They showed up on time when they said they would and even helped find me a company to move my 1150 pound gun safe. Their bid was a lot less than the "National named moving company". Would highly recommend and would use again if the need ever arises again. read more

These guys were terrific! I had everything from a 3-bedroom home in a storage unit and needed it moved into a house and they did a great job of handling that for me. I had a time scheduled for later in the day and on the day of the move I called to ask if it could be changed to that morning they happily accommodated and were ready with the truck 30 minutes later. Dalton and James were the two guys that handled the job for me and they both worked hard the whole time and were careful with everything. They did a perfect job of loading the truck, which was quite full, ensuring only 1 trip was needed and no time was wasted. When unloading the truck into the new house they were both careful and respectful markings on boxes to be sure anything fragile wouldn't be harmed. Boxes and furniture were all thoughtfully placed into appropriate rooms, which included a lot more upstairs than I remembered having when I was originally describing the job over the phone to them. On top of all that, both Dalton and James were a pleasure to chat with while working, which made for a nice way to spend the morning. Love them! Easy to work with, reliable, and professional. We've used them twice now and it's been great. Once when we moved to Boise, then to move our stuff from one storage unit to another when it flooded. That time was last minute and at the end of winter and they were able to get a team together quickly and help us out; it was the highlight of a bad situation! I used Big Boy Movers in December 2019 and was greatly dissatisfied. My move was from Fruitland ID to Caldwell ID. First of all they showed up in a u-haul without any moving blankets or packing material. Just a few tools. So many of my furniture items were scratched and my new washer and dryer got all dinged up. Also I had broken items and Knick knacks that I've had for 20 plus years. My keep sakes and antique furniture. Also one of my glass shelves in my entertainment center was completely missing? How the heck could that happen? They took things apart and didn't put things back together. They didn't even hook up my 2 year old washer and dryer set correctly. Reversed the hot and cold water hoses. Left behind the dryer vent and clamp. I had to go buy new ones. Missing hardware to put back together furniture. They couldn't get my small 2.5 x 3' gun safe up one flight of stairs. They even called in a 3rd person, which was a skinny teenager and no help at all. Over all bad attitudes. Strongly advise you against this company! I wouldn't give them 1/2 star, but only had the option of 1 star minimum! read more

They were good hard workers in a day that hit 118 degrees. I was getting heat stroke watching them work. I did not like some of the packing techniques like putting the hide-a-bed on end. It shook some of the mechanisms loose. Same with a couple of other things. They also did not have a receipt book with them. They promised to email me a receipt for taxes but still have not. Recently, I hired Big Boy Movers for a large move. Mostly, everything went well. First, what went well...the guys were very polite and moved things without damaging anything. They arrived on time. They worked the entire time and were efficient. There was no standing around or wasting time as I have had with other moving companies. Next, what didn't go well. When I scheduled, I told them I had a very large move and what I needed. In the end, they didn't move everything that I needed moved. They said some stuff that I had in my garage wouldn't fit in the truck and I could take it in my SUV. I told them that I needed it moved because I couldn't do it myself (There were a few large items). I was told that they had another job they had to get to and refused to finish my job. Now I get to hire someone else to finish the job that they refused to finish. read more

We hired Big Boy Movers to move our furniture into/out of our garage while we had carpet installed in our home. Both teams of movers did an excellent job! They disassembled and reassembled our office desk/hutch, king sized bed, moved a treadmill down from the second floor, etc... and did so with care. They were polite and I loved listening to their laughter and chatter, as they were working hard! Additionally, our carpet installation took a day longer than originally anticipated - Big Boy Movers was flexible in accommodating our last minute date change. Much appreciated! I moved from Sacramento in 2018 and used a highly recommended moving company who lost the top to one of my tables, splintered the leg of one of my dining room chairs, and lost one of my shelves. Their "so what?" attitude really appalled me. They did pay for the repair of my chair, and they did find the top to my table; I had to pay nearly $200 to have it shipped to me. This was after I paid over $6,000 for the move. After arriving here, I had to have a major remodel done to my part of the house, and that same part was full of furniture and unpacked boxes. I needed to have them all moved to a storage unit, but did most assuredly NOT want to call the movers I had used before. Someone recommended Big Boy and I called them. They were amazing. The young men that showed up were friendly and courteous. They had to carry boxes through the snow to get them to the truck, but they never complained. They were very careful about not tracking snow and mud into the house and they treated my belongings carefully and respectfully. They finished the job in the time and for the amount that had been agreed upon when I received the estimate. If I ever have to move again, I will definitely call them first. Not great. We have moved 7 times in the last three years and have worked with numerous moving companies. The guys were nice, but it took them forever to unpack a 12 foot truck which we have seen moved rather quickly in the past. There was damage to the hardwood floors and a lot of disorganization. When I spoke with the company to book, they assessed the amount of furniture and boxes and quoted us a 2 hour move, which included assembly of one bed. The unload alone took two hours (as I've previously seen done in an hour or less) and they could not figure out how to assemble the simple IKEA bed frame. After showing them how to do it, they were still confused and said they hadn't seen anything like it before. I finally told them that me and my fiancé would do it because we were about to go over the time we were estimating and they still charged me for the amount of time it took them to try to figure out the bed that they couldn't even build even after I walked them through it. Definitely disappointing. We have moved a ton for work and have worked with a lot of companies and I would not recommend these guys. read more

The lied as to the price concerning time, and damaged my belongings when told on delivery promised compensation which never came. When confronted on the phone denied any damage . Had also charged my credit card before delivery so no way to change any billing could be done. Would hole hearted not recommend then to move anything across town,state,or street. I was extremely disappointed with their services. They did not work efficiently or timely which resulted in them not fitting all my stuff which should have fit, then paying for them to take extra time. They took their time and would wait for each other to walk back out to the truck or bring in loads so they could finish their conversation. They went to the incorrect address after I specifically verified with them because I knew there can be confusion. They didn't fold blankets which took my mother and I another 25 minutes. They open two bags of blankets and only used half of each. They didn't use the dolly which was SPECIFICALLY asked for when I hired their services. I also then had to pay for an additional moving van to move the remaining items, and my 62 year old mother doing most of the heavy lifting as I am still recovering from shoulder surgery which is why I hired movers in the first place. No pleased, and will not be recommending to anyone I know. read more
