The bathroom toilet leaked so this room was completely empty for them to the sub floor. We also removed all of the floor trim so they could get to the edges. We made sure to pay them in full as soon as they said the job was complete. We found minor issues such as exposed nail holes, areas missing finish and scratches from them putting the fridge back. The biggest problem is the bathroom floor is crooked and not square with the kitchen floor that it butts up to. It took weeks of texts and calls to get them to come back. One guy finally came out and said they could only fix the nail holes. We asked for the owner to contact us and he still never has. Poor way to do business and handle services. He won't return texts or call. I would not recommend.

After six days with no samples nor estimate, he blamed us for not picking out vinyl for the estimate. Because of his demeanor, I requested he stay off our property. The fact is that if he were to come on our property, police will be called immediately. Any contact will be viewed as harrasent!

Same with the vinyl. Then they brought a remnant and installed it. It was damaged. Then another remnant. It was wavy and damaged. Then they put down a piece that didn't match. It took forever to get this job finished. By the time it was finally right the floor trim was ruined from pulling it up so many times (this is in my front doorway, I should add). We never got one word of apology, only a lot of nasty attitude from the owner. I still don't understand why the attitude. I only wanted what he promised. Now that it's paid for I can't get him to even answer my calls. The rug they sent off to be bound is too long, their measurements, not mine. They should fix this or refund what I paid to have it done, instead they won't even talk to me.

One thing led to another and our new home was move-in ready in November 2020. We couldn't be happier with the build. We found Kerns to be easy to work with, flexible, and responsive. We were new to homebuilding and thus had numerous questions throughout the process. We didn't always get the answer we wanted but we always got an answer. Of importance was the quality of work and although I am neither in construction nor design, I can attest to the quality workmanship thanks to friends who are. Worth noting is that Kerns employs an in-house designer and we found her profoundly helpful. Contrast that with run-of-the-mill builders who instruct you to go "pick out what you want" and you can see the value in having someone dedicated to that space and willing to guide you. As one would expect, we have had minor issues since moving in but they have all been addressed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner. Again, we couldn't be more pleased with our new home and highly recommend Kerns Homebuilders for all the right reasons. Trust me - you'll feel right at home.
